I'll try to have the skeleton completed by Monday

[Overview]

  • Hasn't changed much, but still an excellent physical wall
  • Sand Stream, competition with Tyranitar
  • Keldeo and Tornadus-T are a huge pain
  • Rain more popular
  • Needs team support to function at its best
  • Sets up sand so Stoutland / Landorus can sweep
  • Only weather starter with reliable recovery
  • Underestimate at your own peril
[SET]
name: Physical Wall
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Ice Fang / Roar
move 4: Slack Off
item: Leftovers
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Outstanding physical wall
  • SR - Entry hazard, allows Landorus and friends to sweep easier
  • EQ - Powerful STAB which hits hard even without investment
  • Ice Fang deals damage to Gliscor, Salamence, and Landorus, but Roar can shuffle the opponents team around and gain SR damage
  • Slack Off is reliable recovery which greatly aids Hippowdon as a wall
  • Leftovers allow Hippo to recovery HP steadily each turn
  • more soon
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • EVs prevent help fend off Landorus
  • Blissey absorbs special attacks fired at the hippo
  • Amoonguss counters Keldeo
  • Landorus or Stoutland sweep with sand
  • Mamoswine checks Therians
  • Rapid Spin support appreciated (Starmie, Sandslash, etc)
[Other Options]

[Checks and Counters]

Can you explain exactly what those 12 EVs do in Special Defense?

Also, I would possibly make a Specially Defensive set, or at least put it in OO

Make Toxic a slash, or at least an AC mention. Hippowdon is one of the best Toxic stallers out there.
Also put the LO Tank set in there; in sandstorm it hits like a truck.

Obviously Hidden Power Fire needs to be standard on all Hippo sets

... Jk

But in all seriousness, does Hippowdon really need a revamp? It didn't get anything new other than Whirlwind now being legal with Stealth Rock, and it really only needs mentions of new bw2 threats, all of which can be easily changed through the SCMS. A full revamp is unnecessary for a Pokemon that has hardly changed, not to mention it was one of the more recent analyses uploaded.

yee's QC thread said:

Hippowdon

-"Physical wall" and "Mixed wall" need to be made into one set, both EV spreads talked about under the current "Physical set". The Life Orb Tank I've mostly heard good things about and WeepinbellTamer likes it. Ginganinja also told me all about the good things it does.

OU Worthy: Yes
Worth a revamp: No

I was under the impression that it was QC's decision that Hippowdon would not be receiving an update. Certainly it was never listed as eligible for reservation in the reservations thread. Has this changed at all?
