Hispanic Circuit I (Information & Commencement)

Approved by the Upper Staff.
Hosted by: Español room.

Hello everyone! I am Exi0022 and I will be your gamemaster together with Elian and PanDag. If you're reading this, consider yourself invited to our Hispanic Circuit! One of the biggest tournaments events hosted by the Hispanic community so far, here you will have the chance to demonstrate your competitive Pokémon skills!

Qualifying Dynamics and tournament description:

There are two different methods that will allow you to earn your spot in the final play-offs and achieve glory!

1. Annual leaderboard

It's easy, just by participating in the daily tournaments that will be held at fixed times in the Español room, you can be awarded a certain amount of points depending on the number of participants!

This cycle will take place between the months of February and October, at the end of the latter the top 8 will directly advance to the Round of 16 of the play-offs!

In the event of two or more players ending the cycle with the same amount of points, the tie-breakers criteria will follow this priority (in descending order):

- Number of tournaments won
- Extra points (awarded if the tournaments reach a certain number of participants)
- Number of participations in finals
- Number of participations in semi-finals

2. Grand Slam

From the 1st of November until the 30th of November, it will be the turn for the Grand Slam, this is a event where multiple activities will take place throughout the month.

Each activity will give a certain score to the winners (depending on the number of participants). At the end of the month the 16 players with the most points will qualify for the Hispanic Circuit play-offs to be held in December. The activities will vary from Tournaments, Quizzes, Hangmans and Games inspired in those from our subroom Eventos!

Play-Offs Dynamics

At the 1st of December, the qualified players will receive an official notification from the hosts (Elian, PanDag or me) through a private message on Smogon. The confirmation of participating will be required within a week, otherwise the spot will be given to the next player with more points. Once we have the 24 qualified players, you will face the best from the event!

*Note: In case that a player happened to be both Top 8 in the leaderboard and Top 16 in the Grand Slam, their result from the leaderboard shall take precedence.

This will be based in a single-elimination bracket, on Bo5 format, with each player choosing two tiers from a defined pool, and the remaining being SV OU. Players entering via the annual leaderboard will await their opponents on the Top 16, while those qualyfiing through the Grand Slam will need to play an additional round. Potential tie-breakers deriving from the Grand Slam phase will take place at this stage as well.

Each round will have a week deadline (extensions may be considered based on the players feedback). Replays are NEEDED and must be shared in the thread to keep record of the battles. Standard rules from Smogon Tournaments should be followed regarding game scheduling.

Legal notices:

- Banned Smogon and/or permalocked PS! users will not be granted points from tournaments or Grand Slam activities while their punishment remains in force.

- Banned Smogon and/or permalocked PS! users qualified to the play-off stage will not be allowed to take part in it, and in case of being sanctioned during the play-offs stage, they would be not eligible for a prize.

- The alt that you use must be associated with your Smogon account, otherwise it will not be taken into account.

- The alts of each user will be taken as 2 different users. E.g.: If one day Elian decides to play with his main and scores, it will be added to his main, but if the next day he uses Elian-san, which is a different alt from his main, it will be added to Elian-san and not to the other one, so each alt will be treated as a different user. Even if Elian-san manages to qualify for poff he will be able to make the change and play with the main in this case Elian, only if he qualifies. Keep in mind that the points counting, apart from the extra points, is automatic. No exceptions will be made, so please make sure to restrict to the same alt during the whole cycle.

Schedules & Tournaments:
There will be 3 tournaments per day at the following times.

First tournament: 5pm GMT
(11am Central Mexico - 1pm Venezuela - 2pm Argentina - 7pm Spain)

Second tournament: 7pm GMT
(1pm Central Mexico - 3pm Venezuela - 4pm Argentina - 9pm Spain)

Third tournament: 9pm GMT
(3pm Central Mexico - 5pm Venezuela - 6pm Argentina - 11pm Spain)

*Note: Consider that your local time may change during the cycle, so use these only as a guide, schedules based on GMT times will be those to always take into account. Anyway, these timetables are subject to changes, which would be properly reflected in this thread.

Aiming for variety, we have created a system to play an old gen tournament, a current gen tournament and there will be a format that will only change every month, the spotlight.

So the order will always be:

Current Gen -> Spotlight -> Old Gen

How will the tournament points be distributed?

Up to 16 players:
3 to the winner, 2 runners-up and 1 semi-finalist.

+16 and up to 32 players: 4 to the winner, 3 finalists and 2 semis.

More than 32 players: 6 to the winner, 4 finalist and 3 semis.

The distribuition of the points will be based in principle on the first case, and if the tournament reaches the necessary amount of players, extra points will be awarded.

Prizes and rewards:

For the hard work done during these months and of course for winning the whole circuit, the valuable reward will be: A CUSTOM AVATAR.

The winner will get the Room Prize Winner (RPW) rank in Pokemon Showdown Spanish Room with a duration of two weeks.

*Note:
For those who already have a custom avatar, you can choose between claiming an inactive account or a colour change.

This thread is informative, and will remain open on purpose for potential inquiries. However, it is not necessary to formally register for the event, joining Español room to participate in the tournaments and activities in the room is enough. Any doubts can also be privately forwarded to Elian, PanDag or me.
