[SET COMMENTS]
Although it faces competition from the many other viable Fighting-types in RU, Hitmonlee stands out because it can sweep through teams with the Speed boost given by Unburden, which allows it to outspeed the entire unboosted tier as well as all common Choice Scarf users. However, Hitmonlee provides next to no defensive utility and requires the support of a Terrain setter to sweep. Knock Off is able to hit Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Dhelmise, Golurk, and Sigilyph. Stone Edge lets Hitmonlee hit Flying-types such as Mantine and Charizard, and Earthquake helps it better damage Dragalge. There is a lot of overlap between the targets of Hitmonlee's three coverage moves; therefore, any combination of two of Knock Off, Stone Edge, and Earthquake is usually sufficient. In the final slot, Bulk Up lets Hitmonlee sweep, giving it the power to break through walls not weak to its attacks such as Vaporeon. The combination of Unburden and Psychic Seed boosts Hitmonlee's Speed and Special Defense when Psychic Terrain is activated, which allows it to set up a Bulk Up on strong special attackers such as Dragalge. 124 Speed EVs are enough for Hitmonlee to outspeed Choice Scarf Togedemaru, the fastest relevant Choice Scarf user, once Unburden is activated. The remaining 132 EVs are invested in HP to help Hitmonlee set up more easily.
Hitmonlee requires Psychic Seed to be activated in order to sweep, so Indeedee-F is a necessary partner. It could use an Electric Seed or Grassy Seed in conjunction with Pincurchin or Thwackey, but Indeedee-F is a far more viable Pokemon so Hitmonlee is typically best with it as the Terrain setter. Klefki is also a useful partner, since Spikes makes it much easier for Hitmonlee to break through physically bulky Pokemon such as Vaporeon and Tangela. Offensive pivots can help wear down the few walls capable of taking Hitmonlee's attacks; Heliolisk and Vikavolt can force Dhelmise and Dragalge to take damage early in the game, making it easier for Hitmonlee to KO those Pokemon, while also giving it setup opportunities against passive defensive Pokemon. Dragalge can bring Hitmonlee in safely against Steel-types with its slow Flip Turn and chip potentially troublesome walls like Mantine. Finally, consider pairing Hitmonlee with other fast offensive Pokemon so that one can wear down the other's checks for it to sweep. Barraskewda, Inteleon, and Salazzle perform well in this regard while also being able to finish off the opposing team if Hitmonlee's sweep is stopped.
