Hiyakki

------------------------------

[Overview]

  • Its the only Water-type that gets Nasty Plot (aside from Slowking, but Hiyakki is fast enough to abuse it.)
  • Good base 101 Speed means it can abuse Nasty Plot well to sweep.
  • Great offensive movepool and decent base 98 Special Attack.
  • Very, very bad defenses.
  • Totally outclassed by Manaphy who is far bulkier, gets a bigger power boost with Tail Glow, and can heal off status with Hydration.
[SET]
name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Hydro Pump
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Grass Knot / Focus Blast / Taunt
item: Life Orb
nature: Timid
evs: 6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Set Comments:

  • This is the only thing Hiyakki can really do well. Fortunately, Hiyakki has decent Special Attack and good Speed, so it can pull this off pretty well.
  • Nasty Plot boosted Hydro Pumps in the Rain really hurt.
  • Ice Beam is great to cover Dragon-types and Grass-types.
Additional Comments:

  • Grass Knot takes care of enemy Water-types.
  • Focus Blast hits Rotom-W for a nice chunk of damage while covering Dialga and Empoleon.
  • Taunt is something Hiyakki has over Manaphy. With Taunt, Hiyakki stands a chance at beating Blissey as well as blocking attempts to status it.
Teammates & Counters:

  • Any faster Pokemon with a super effective attack can beat Hiyakki as it can't take a hit at all.
  • Blissey totally walls Hiyakki unless it has Taunt.
  • Jaroda, Latias, and Latios all outspeed Hiyakki and OHKOes with an appropriate attack. They can also switch in on anything bar Ice Beam.
  • Rotom-W and Vaporeon take nothing% damage from Grass Knot, resist every other attack, and can fell Hiyakki with Thunderbolt or outstall it with Toxic.
  • Scizor can handle Jaroda, Blissey, Latios, and Latias easily with its strong STAB U-turn.
  • A sturdy Grass-type such as Shaymin or Birijion can deal with Rotom-W and Vaporeon.
  • Wobbuffet can trap and KO Choice Scarf Pokemon and help Hiyakki set up with Encore.
  • Kyogre/Politoed provide infinite Rain support to help fuel Hydro Pump.
[Team Options]

  • As many entry hazards as you can get.
  • Screens can help Hiyakki set up.
  • Rain increases the power of Hiyakki's STAB Hydro Pump.
  • Strong physical attackers such as Terakion, Scizor, and Salamence can help deal with Blissey.
  • Shaymin-S can deal with most Grass-types and bulky Waters
[Optional Changes]

  • Surf can be used over Hydro Pump for more accuracy, but Hiyakki needs all the power it can get.
  • Substitute and a Pinch Berry can be used alongside Gluttony, but this is a very risky strategy that usually won't pay off.
  • Hiyakki can attempt to go mixed with Cheer Up as it has a good movepool on both sides of the spectrum.
[Counters]

  • Blissey.
  • Fast Grass-types such as Jaroda, Shaymin-S, and Birijion.
  • Latios and Latias don't really care about anything except a boosted Ice Beam.
  • Anything faster than Hiyakki with a moderately powerful super effective attack beats it.
  • Anything that counters Manaphy counters Hiyakki.
[Dream World]

  • Hiyakki gets Torrent as its Dream World ability.
  • Gluttony does not help Hiyakki at all as it is too frail to really make good use of Pinch Berries, so Torrent is always the superior option.
