Hoopa

Overview
#######

Hoopa is very unique in multiple ways.It has a typing that does nothing positive for it, while that typing is exclusive to Hoopa, it leaves the jumper terrified of all pokemon thats name starts with "Bi" and end in "Sharp". It's stats are also sort of odd, being really huge in some of it's stats, namely the special stats, and some being abysmal, it's physical defense. That's not to say that those stats are completely useless; it's, while seemingly poor, 70 base speed gives it the option to use a choice scarf fairly effectively.
If the jumper fairy were even a 90 base speed pokemon, we would see it in OU a lot more than it's typing gives it the ability to be. Overall, Hoopa feels like a wasted potential, but when it's wearing the choice scarf, it will be a very effective revenge killer as long as it stays away from dark types, and all ghost types even remotely faster than it.

Choice Scarf
#########
Name: Indigo Montoya
Move 1: Psychic
Move 2: Shadow Ball
Move 3: Focus Blast / Brick Break
Move 4: Energy Ball / Hyperspace Hole / Hidden Power Fire
Ability: Magician
Item: Choice Scarf
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid / Hasty

Moves
=======
The Move you'll be using the most is more than likely Psychic, as it is very reliable, and has the highest damage output of the set. Shadow Ball will be doing the same damage as that of a Brave Aegislash, which is pretty damn high. Dark types present to you an offensive problem too. You need something to hit them super effectively; Focus Blast is the move of choice here, but Brick Break is a nearly as effective choice, simply because of it's greater reliability and the jumper's workable 110 base attack. In your last slot, Energy Ball is the superior option due to Rotom-W's omnipresence, but Hyperspace Hole will surprise the hell out of a Gliscor Player.

Set Details
=========
Choice Scarf is what makes Hoopa tick, the jumper would be too slow to even touch a poke before it died to the all powerful knock off. This set is severely outclassed by Hoopa's older brother Gengar, with the single exception of Hoopa's STAB Psychic's hitting for absurd damage. This same set could also be ran with the Choice Specs, but you would miss out on a crucial speed tier. The ability here is Magician, that's because it's literally the only ability you can "take advantage" of. If you run the Brick Break variant, replace the HP Evs with Attack Evs.

Usage Tips
==========
Get the hell out if the opponent is a dark type that doesn't learn pursuit. If the opponent is anything that learns pursuit, you have to pick your best move and hope for the best. Bulky physical attackers are a huge problem for the jumper, as you won't be able to OHKO any of them, particularly Conkeldurr. With the fairly limited movepool that Hoopa's got, this is the closest we can get to perfect coverage, so you may have trouble dealing with entire teams, or you could sweep entire teams, which again shows how odd Hoopa really is.

Team Options
===========
Hoopa pairs very well with it's greatest enemies. Hoopa will make a fairly solid offensive core when paired with it's biggest counter, Bisharp. Tyranitar also makes a very good partner to the jumper. A pokemon that has the kind of offensive presence that can defeat dark types is a huge help. The best of which being the obvious Conkeldurr. Another great pokemon to pair with on the offensive side is Azumarill. On the defensive side, Mega-Scizor is a huge help, simply because it as a huge problem to Bisharp, as long as it's packing superpower.

This Pokemon isn't even released so we can't really make an analysis for it because it cannot be used in the metagame at this time. This is in addition to the fact that we have no fully explored Hoopa and its movepool, so we don't fully know what this thing could do right now. In addition, this is the wrong formatting.

I apologize if I have broken any rules.

It's movepool is here: http://serebii.net/pokedex-xy/720.shtml And you didn't break any rules.

Edit: Wait, why are you apologizing? You didn't do anything wrong.

This is called preview analyses, I feel like with all of it's data we can make an accurate assumption of what it's presence will be, and that's what this set review is for.

Welcome to Smogon, trios678. With analyses, we don't write them until the Pokemon is actually released, so a preview is unnecessary. When Hoopa is released, then we'll go ahead with all of this. Try going to Mentorship here to learn how the community works, or just watch the forums and get a feel for the way things work over time.

I was unaware of the rule that I can't post analyses for unreleased pokemon. Thank you for telling me. I've been playing for years, still new to the forums.
