[Overview]

Hoppip is seldom used in Little Cup because of its bad typing and mediocre stats. However, Hoppip is immune to ground-type moves and has a great support movepool, including Momento, Sleep Powder, U-Turn, and Encore. At first glance Cotonee may seem superior to Hoppip due to it having Prankster, but Cotonee doesn't have several of the important moves that Hoppip has, such as Sleep Powder, Memento, and Acrobatics. The being said, don't let its adorable appearance fool you, Hoppip can easily lead to the demise of you team.

[SET]
Name: Sunny Day
Move 1: Encore
Move 2: Sleep Powder
Move 3: Sunny Day
Move 4: Memento / U-Turn
Item: Heat Rock
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 236 HP / 36 Def / 196 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Sleep Powder can put most leads to bed. You then use Sunny Day to make your Hoppip's speed faster and to set up for any other Pokemon that benefit from sunlight. Hoppip can then either Memento or U-Turn to your next Pokemon. If you decide to keep Hoppip in play then you can Encore you opponent into using a non threatening move. Then if the foe has woken up you can Sleep Powder again then Memento or U-Turn Hoppip out of play. If you plan to use Hoppip again in your match then U-Turn is a better option then Momento because U-Turn leaves Hoppip alive to fight again. If you are only using Hoppip to help set up for a sweeper then Memento is superior to U-Turn because Memento lowers the foe's Atk and SpA to give your sweeper more chance of surviving hits.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Under sunlight, Chlorophyll and Jolly give Hoppip 28 speed, outspeeding virtually everything. 236 HP EVs make sure to give Hoppip a high chance of surviving at least one hit. The Heat Rock makes Sunny Day last longer, hopefully either until the end of the battle or until Hoppip can get back into the match. 196 Speed EVs bring Hoppip's speed stat up to a maximum of 15, which, under sunlight, is 28, which is very fast.

Fire-type Pokemon with the ability Flash Fire, such as Growlith, Ponyta, and Houndour, all make great team mates with Hoppip because they can take out the biggest threats to a Little Cup Sunny day team: Pokemon that can change the weather with an ability such as Hippopotas and Snover, and they get the added boost from sunlight. Even though fire moves have no extra effact against Hippopotas, Snover gets hit four times as much as normal.

[SET]
Name: Support
Move 1: Encore
Move 2: Aromatherapy
Move 3: Sleep Powder / Leech Seed
Move 4: Memento / U-Turn
Item: Eviolite
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 236 HP / 36 Def / 196 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

As soon as you get in, Encore the foe. The opponent will, chances are, switch to a new Pokemon. Sleep Powder or Leech Seed the new opponent. While the foe either sleeps or gets its health drained use Aromatherapy to help heal your team. Then U-Turn or Memento to a new Pokemon. If

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Under sunlight Chlorophyll and Jolly make Hoppip incredibly fast, outspeeding almost everything. 236 HP EVs make sure to give Hoppip a high chance of surviving at least one hit. Eviolite raises Hoppip's Defense and Special Defense, giving it more chance to survive hits and support his partners longer. 196 Speed EVs bring Hoppip's speed stat up to a maximum of 15, which, under sunlight, is 28, which is very fast.

Fire-type Pokemon with the ability Flash Fire, such as Growlith, Ponyta, and Houndour, all make great team mates with Hoppip because they can take out the biggest threats to a Pokemon in Little Cup that requires sunlight: Pokemon that can change the weather with an ability such as Hippopotas and Snover, and they get the added boost from sunlight. Even though fire moves have no extra effact against Hippopotas, Snover gets hit four times as much as normal.

[SET]
Name: Swords Dancer
Move 1: Swords Dance
Move 2: Acrobatics
Move 3: Protect
Move 4: Seed Bomb
Item: Flight Gem
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 36 HP / 196 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SpD / 196 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Sword Dance to get the Attack stat up. to hit harder. Next, use Acrobatics. The Flight Gem makes Acrobatics hit extremely hard. If you're still alive after using Acrobatics, use Protect. Then either use Acrobatics or Seed Bomb. Doing one Swords Dance with Flight Gem and then you use Acrobatics will hit the opponent with 247.5 power. That is a big enough hit to OHKO many of Hoppip's biggest threats, such as Mankey.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

For this set to work you have to be under sunlight. Without sunlight Hoppip will be outsped the majority of the time. Hoppip being as frail as it is can't survive many hits, so it's vital to be under sunlight to get both Swords Dance and Acrobatics in before the opponent can hit you twice. Chlorophyll, along with Jolly nature and 196 Speed EVs make Hoppip one of the fastest Pokemon in the game. 196 Attack EVs make sure to pack a punch when attacking, and 36 EVs in HP, Defense, and Special Defense make sure that Hoppip has an all around good defense.

[Other Options]

Synthesis could be a good option in the Sunny Day set because Synthesis get boosted healing power in sun light. Regaining health could give you more time to stall your foes. Protect or Substitute is a potential way to avoid attacks to keep it in the game longer. In the Support set Reflect could take the place of Aromatherapy.

[Checks and Counters]

You don't normally have to worry about your foe's Pokemon outspeeding Hoppip under sunlight, but without sunlight, it will almost always be outsped. That being said, any foe Pokemon who takes away sunlight, such as Snover and Hoppopotas, can be a major thread to Hoppip. Also, due to Hoppip's major weakness to ice, any Pokemon with Ice Shard can really hit Hoppip hard. Taunt also is a major threat to Hoppip because, when Taunted, Hoppip is rendered useless without its supporting moves. Any Pokemon with Vital Spirit also can tear Hoppip to shreds because it won't fall asleep and then can hit hard if it knows any Fire or Ice moves.

[Dream World]

Hoppip's Dream World ability, Infiltrator, is not nearly as good as Chlorophyll. Infiltrator makes moves like Reflect, Light Screen, and Safeguardunder not effect Hoppip. Since none of these moves are commenly used in Little Cup, Infiltrator is virtually useless.

The Overview needs to be bigger, its too small. If you can, then in your Dream World section, add what Infiltrator is and why it isn't as good.

Suggestion: When getting stuff QC'ed, its always better to use Bullet Points, then formalize it before GP. Its easier to edit.

Your Set Comments are way too small for the Swords Dance set. You need to describe the role of every single move in the set. Describe it in comparison to which Pokémon it is best to be used against.

Your Additional Comments for the Support and Sunny Day sets are again small. Describe in specifics what the EVs, ability and item do.

Hoppip only reaches 28 speed with chlorophyll, just a nit pick. Otherwise, this effectively summarises Hoppip.

[SET COMMENTS]

Always start with Sword Dance to get the Attack stat up. [No full stop] to hit harder. [It is a bit confusing to follow and I'm not sure the strategy is quite right, so I tried making it a bit more efficiently] Seed Bomb or Acrobatics should be used as required. Protect can be used to stall out poison or burn damage, or to just scout. If you choose to use Synthesis instead of Protect, then Synthesis should be used to recover health, and when combined with Eviolite, Hoppip can be tanking a few neutral hits. After one Swords Dance, a Flight Gem boosted Acrobatics has a Base Power of 247.5. That is a big enough hit strong enough to OHKO many of Hoppip's biggest threats, such as Mankey.

General Comments

1. U-turn is spelt with a lower case 't', but it is a common mistake which I wouldn't have picked up if I didn't read the grammar article.

2. I've changed and suggested a fair amount of things in the Swords
Dance set. Feel free to change some of my suggestions, but most of the descriptions should be adequate if you choose not to put Synthesis in the suggested moveset. And I hope your Flight Gem calculation is right.

3. I have no idea what the maths is, so you should check them. I'm too lazy and opening tabs makes me lag.

Hope I have helped.
I still don't get the GP stuff, but I think I can GP stamp you or something like that. (I did someone elses earlier, and they claimed that I GP'd them, or something)
