Can you answer it yourself? If yes, don't post it.
Will people know the answer? If not, don't post it.
2: Make the question engaging
Don't just ask "what is your favourite colour?", ask "What colour APPEALS to you the MOST?"
3: Make sure the question hasn't already been asked
There's a search function on the forums, use it.
4: Repeat step 1
