Hyper Offence to the max!

Hyper Offense OU Team
Hi everyone, I am NickPwnz and this is my first ‘Rate My Team’. I have read many RMTs and have enjoyed reading about unique strategies and have discovered that the articles can improve everyone’s gameplay. Just letting you know, that this isn’t the most complex RMT, and I will not be writing comments such as “This Pokemon has enough EVs to OHKO…” etc.

As most people would know, a majority of the top players in OU, or any tier for that matter, run stall, or at least have an element of stall in their team. But I have decided to run a hyper offense team, just for a different aspect of gameplay. This isn’t a top 100 team at the moment, but I have tested it and with good prediction and knowledge, it can be very effective.

Ok, the main idea of this team, is that every Pokemon (except my lead) should be come close to KOing at least one Pokemon in the battle. I don’t really have a team building process, because my team doesn’t have the best synergy, just the fact that they can all dish out a large amount of damage to a variety of types makes them a threat.

The thing I like about this team is that you actually do have to be a good player. There are a lot of teams I see that anyone can pick up and be good with them. This team requires prediction and knowledge of what each Pokemon is like so you know how to combat each and every one in a certain situation.

NOW TO MEET THE TEAM…

DEOXYS-S
Role: Lead / Fast Taunt / Dual Screener

Item: Light Clay

Ability: Pressure

EVs: 252 DEF / 152 SP.DEF / 104 SPD

Nature: Careful (+SpDef –SpAtk)

~Taunt ~Stealth Rock
~Reflect
~Light Screen
~~~ Deoxys-S is my standard lead, unless there is an obvious threat on the opponent team (Prankster? Believe me, I don’t really want Deoxys-S taunted). There are two roles that Deoxys-S plays on my team – Dual Screener, and a Fast Taunter, although the latter is not used as much. The strategy is usually just to set up both screens (order depends on which pokemon my opponent has active at the time) and switch. With both defences at 279, and a very high speed stat, I can pretty much set up screens whenever I feel like it, unless I switch Deoxy-S in on a Taunt. Speaking of which, Taunt is a must on this set, as it can deter leads from status moves, as well as setting up entry hazards. Note this is especially important because I will be switching a lot and I do not have a Rapid Spinner. Night Shade is there just to deal some damage whenever I have a free turn, having already taunted + set up both screens.
From reading some of the feedback below, I am considering changing Taunt to Magic Coat and Night Shade to SR. I personally prefer Taunt, because it stops them from setting up entirely, whereas Magic Coat only protects Deoxys-S. The positive about Magic Coat is that it bounces back their status move, so that evens it out. SR would probably be good over Night Shade because if I play smart, I shouldn't get taunted, and SR would be more beneficial in the long run.
SCIZOR
Role: Physical Choice / Priority / Scout
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 ATK / 8 SPD
Nature: Adamant (+Atk – SpAtk)
~U-Turn
~Pursuit
~Superpower
~Bullet Punch
~~~ Doesn’t this set look familiar? Yep, it’s just your standard Choice Band Scizor. Standard moves, standard nature, standard EVs. Nonetheless, it is still one of the most feared Pokemon in the game, and almost always leaves gaping holes in the opponent’s team. But it can be used even more efficiently with prediction. U-Turn is for scouting, as well as getting Scizor out when predicting a switch. Many-a-time has a Heatran switched in, just to receive a goodbye and U-Turn in it’s ugly face. Pursuit. Ah Pursuit. I have said good game to many Lati@s’ choice locked into Draco Meteor. It really makes my day. Superpower is just a high power move which can surprise a lot of Pokemon (Magnezone, Heatran). Bullet Punch is probably Scizor’s signature move. At a whopping 591 attack, a Technician-boosted, STAB priority is sure a move to be feared by many.

ROTOM-W
Role: Special Choice / Scout / Wallbreaker

Item: Choice Scarf

Ability: Levitate

EVs: 252 SPATK / 252 SPD / 6 HP

Nature: Modest (+SpAtk –Atk)

~Hydro Pump
~Volt Switch
~HP Ice (changed from Thunderbolt)
~Trick (changed from Shadow Ball)
~~~ To go with my physical choice attacker, I decided I needed a special attacker. Most people love the Volt Switch/ U-Turn combo, but would probably go for Raikou. Personally I just like using Rotom-W, mainly because of it’s typing, ability, and bulkiness. Hydro Pump is there plain and simple, because it is a 120 power + STAB attack. It also hits Gliscor if I don’t feel like risking Volt Switch (if it turns out Gliscor doesn’t switch and I go for Volt Switch, then I’m in BIG TROUBLE). Volt Switch is pretty much Rotom-W’s equivalent to U-Turn on Scizor – it’s a solid 70 power STAB and useful for scouting. Thunderbolt has been changed to HP Ice as it gives me better coverage over a teensy bit more power, plus I can hit some dragons even after a DDance. Shadow Ball has been changed to Trick because my team desperately needs a wallbreaker and it seemed like a good opportunity.
STARAPTOR
Role: Physical Attacker / Late Game Sweeper
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 ATK / 252 SPD / 6 HP
Nature: Jolly (+Spd –SpAtk)
~Brave Bird
~Double-Edge
~Close Combat
~Roost
~~~ That bird in the picture above looks fierce, and believe me it's not just his look which is fierce. He gets nearly perfect coverage in his moves and even physical walls have a hard time stopping him. As you can see, there are a few things I am unsure about, (noted in bold writing) so please comment below with your opinion. Brave Bird is a move that most Pokemon don’t like to be hit by, particularly when boosted by Life Orb and Reckless. Same goes for Double-Edge. Close Combat hits nearly all Pokemon which resist the previous two moves, especially Rock and Steel types (FERROTHORN!). I I have listed the ‘Raptor as a late game sweeper because with most Pokemon having little HP left, I don’t need to worry about the backlash of Brave Bird and Double-Edge.

I have switched U-Turn for Roost at this time, although I am considering using Leftovers over LO. I could turn my Staraptor into a more bulky version, although I suppose my team is 'Hyper Offence', so I think Roost should be enough for healing the recoil. Also maybe Choice Band could be a good idea? I don't really like having 3 choiced Pokes on my team, but I suppose I would be able to run U-Turn more effectively and there wouldn't be any backlash from the Life Orb.

SALAMENCE
Role: Intimidator / Physical Attacker

Item: Life Orb

Ability: Intimidate

EVs: 252 ATK / 252 SPD / 6 HP

Nature: Jolly (+Spd –SpAtk)

~Dragon Claw
~Dragon Dance
~Earthquake
~Fire Fang
~~~ Salamence. What a beast. He achieves perfect coverage (other than Air Balloon Heatran) with his three powerful moves. Dragon Claw is for his mighty STAB attack, EQ is pretty much standard, but I have chosen Fire Fang over Fire Blast. I just like the higher accuracy, and this way, my nature doesn't hinder my defences and Dragon Dance benefits all his moves. Intimidate is a lot more useful than people think. When switched on a physical attacker such as Gyarados or Excadrill, it really does hinder them, and they usually switch out.
NIDOKING
Role: Status Resistor / Special Attacker
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SPATK / 252 SPD / 6 HP
Nature: Timid (+Spd –Atk)
~Flamethrower
~Thunderbolt
~Ice Beam
~Earth Power
~~~ How this monster is UU I will never know. Just step back and take a look at him. Awesome ability. 4 moves with fantastic coverage and 80+ power boosted by Sheer Force (1.3x). Not to mention his stats are alright as well. Nidoking may be UU, but he sure can hold his own in the OU environment. He can check many common threats such as Ferrothorn, Jellicent, Dragonite, Gliscor and Tyranitar. Flamethrower equals death to Scizor and ‘Thorn as well as covers my large Ice-type weakness; Thunderbolt is trouble for threats such as Skarmory, Tornadus and Politoed. Ice Beam takes down Ground-types, but more importantly; the mighty Dragons. Earth Power is obviously there for a hugely powerful STAB attack which rounds out the set. Something a lot of people over look on Nidoking is that it absorbs Thunder Wave and Toxic, something only it and three other Pokemon (Gliscor, Excadrill, Steelix) can boast.

So that is my team. Thanks for reading my first RMT and please give feedback below, it doesn’t take long. Also I’m sorry there is no threat list at this time, but I might add one in the future.

Great job on your first RMT, layout and descriptions are concise and clear. Pictures are a bit problematic, just change them cause i can't see them either. Hyper offense is an interesting concept and it does take a lot of prediction to pull off effectively in this metagame. The main problem concerning this team is the lack of a wall-breaker which is gonna make stall a pain in the ass. There are a couple of things to address this problem however, some possible changes are

-giving nidoking earthquake/a physical move and splitting offense EVs
-changing nidoking to a more capable wall-breaker like sazandora etc. (there are plenty in BW that possess better offensive and defensive stats)
-Run a mixmence over ur current physical mence and keep the nido
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/salamence this is a bit outdated but the idea is more or less the same.
-giving rotom-w trick instead of shadow ball (remember it doesn't get STAB this gen)

Onto some other stuff, u'll find that hazards wil help you a lot on an offensive team like this, especially with a suicide lead. give deoxys-s stealth rock instead of night shade. i wont question ur methods but dual screen is a bit pointless on this team as u have 2 choiced pokes and only one pokemon that can take advantage of the defense boosts to set-up, perhaps the traditional deoxys-s lead might work better. Staraptor is a double-edged sword, i suggest lleftovers, as with all the recoil moves as life orb wil kill as fast as u kill the enemy poke. anyways i dont have much left to say. you can follow my comments or ignore them, its up to u and once again well done on ur first RMT.

I generally play a bulkier sort of offence relying on synergy, so I'm not going to ask you to switch any Pokemon around--except one. I have no experience with hyper offense, so I'll keep this short.

1) If you're scared of taunters for your Deoxys-s, try Magic Coat>Taunt. You can taunt them back and get your own entry hazards, which offensive teams love and you don't have, and maybe Stealth Rock/Spikes > Night Shade.
2) HP Ice>Thunderbolt, Trick>Shadow Ball on your Rotom. Volt Switch is very viable as the sole electric STAB move, and HP Ice rounds off the coverage. Trick is very very needed on Rotom specs.
3) INTIMIDATE > MOXIE. SALAMENCE NO CAN HAS OUTRAGE WITH MOXIE. DD/Outrage/Fire Blast/Roost. Do it. Your current Salamence set kind of sucks.
4) LO 3 Attack Starmie + Rapid Spin > Nidoking. On a team like this, hazards would probably fuck you up with all of your choiced Pokemon. Starmie can absorb status too, like Nidoking, has arguably better coverage (Only Shedinja/Lanturn resist), and can spin those hazards away. Of course, with Magic Coat>Taunt on Deoxys-s, that might not be necessary, but still. Very helpful against stall.
5) Roost>U-Turn on Staraptor. Suicide bird needs healing.

That's all I've got. I understand, HEALING? ON HYPER OFFENSE? Yes, or stall shits on you. I don't see how this team works against weather, at all, but if it does, props.

PS ignore the above rate, screens are great with choiced pokemon.

Zach your wrong. Hyper offence has between 2-4 not the whole team. That would literally do nothing in a battle. Second NEVER and I mean NEVER put earthquake on Nidoking he functions amazingly as a special attacker never as a physical attacker. Although sazandora functions great as a wall breaker, combined with the sheer force boost with life orb, nidoking basically has 469 special attack, which is absolutely monstrous. Umm another change would be putting either a choice band or choice scarf on Staraptor, one has an unparalleled amount of power and the latter has amazing potential as a revenge killer. For Salamence Id recommend the standard mixed DDance set, Naive Nature, 252 att and 252 spe with the last 4 evs in spec att. Dragon dance, outrage/dragon claw, earthquake, fire blast. Other than that with great screen support and nice sweeping capabilities this team could go far :D

ROTOM-W
Role: Special Choice / Scout

Item: Choice Specs

Ability: Levitate

EVs: 252 SPATK / 252 SPD / 6 HP

Nature: Modest (+SpAtk –Atk)

~Hydro Pump
~Volt Switch
~Thunderbolt
~Shadow Ball / HP ICE

Hey man nice team and everything but I wouldn't run Volt Switch AND Thunderbolt on the same set. either pick Volt Switch for the scouting or Thunderbolt for the power. You can put the HP Ice into the other choice. I would switch the choice specs for choice scarf and the nature to timid. you would be able to outspeed most things and use rotom as a revenge killer as well.

Nice team fellow queenslander! go ahead and use volt switch and tbolt on the same set. Works wonders
This set on salamence:

name: Offensive Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Outrage
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Fire Blast
nature: Naive / Naughty
item: Life Orb / Leftovers
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

Slight change on Deo:

name: Dual Screens
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: Taunt / Magic Coat/Superpower
move 4: Spikes
item: Light Clay
nature: Jolly
EV's: 4 Def / 252 HP / 252 Spe

Change scizor's set. this fits well with this team, and is the best poke in OU imo:

name: Bulky Swords Dance
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Bullet Punch
move 3: Bug Bite / Superpower
move 4: Roost
item: Leftovers / Life Orb
nature: Adamant
ability: Technician
evs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SpD

also, try swapping staraptor out for something that isn't slow, like a NP Thundurus. Very menacing. or a LO latios. also very menacing

On Deoxys, I'd definitely go Entry Hazards>Dual Screens; you only have 1 set up Poke that can benefit from it, while the whole team can benefit from entry hazards.

Also on Nidoking, go LO, Sheer Force prevents Life Orb recoil iirc.

On Rotom, definitely go either a HP of choice or Trick over Shadow Ball.

That's about as much as I can help with the direction you are trying to go with your team; it's up to you to work on synergy and strategy. GL, bro.

EDIT: Changes ~~

Staraptor -- U-Turn changed to Roost
Salamence -- Stone Edge changed to Dragon Dance
Rotom-W -- Thunderbolt changed to HP Ice
-- Shadow Ball changed to Trick

I am going to test Deoxys-S with the following set

~Light Screen
~Reflect
~Magic Coat
~Spikes

I seriously don't see how you deal with Excadrill... I mean, okay, Salamence + Staraptor Intimidate, but still, are you seriously expecting it to survive a Rock Slide anyways? So, what I suggest...
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Impish Nature
Trait: Poison Heal
Ev's: 252 HP, 184 Def, 72 Spd
~ Swords Dance
~ Taunt
~ Earthquake
~ Ice Fang
...Stallbreaking Gliscor. I'd say over Salamence, since you don't want two X4 Ice weaknesses... And to complete the core...
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Calm Nature
Trait: Serene Grace
Ev's: 252 HP, 224 Sp. Def, 32 Spd
~ Wish
~ Body Slam
~ Stealth Rock
~ Iron Head
I would say get rid of Scizor. Hope I helped!

On deoxys I kno your testings magic coat buy I think taunt works better. Need to be able to stop skarms from phasing you around and other taunters from stopping you set your spikes down.

You should un-slash the Expert Belt on Nidoking. Not only does LO give 1.2x power on ALL moves, not just SE ones, you don't receive Recoil either. I think the end multiplier come out to 1.7x or something? Plus, you can switch moves and whatnot.

I can't stress that enough, NEVER run Expert Belt.

I really like the Staraptor, I can just imagine how it can tear up pokemon with Dual-Stab-Reckless-Boosted-Base-120-Power-Moves.
