I don't think I'll ever be able to get a team made

For the past few months I've been lurking around and researching Pokemons in order to try and get a team set up that I would like. But everytime I do, I see a flaw in it and go back to the drawing boards. This seems to be like a never ending pattern. And now that I finally finished training a Tyranitar/Garchomp I finally realize how boring they are to use. I'm never going to have a team done ~_~ How do you people do it?

Working around one Pokemon is usually how I do it. Say I want to build a team around Gyarados, I might want to inlcude Electivire because it works well with Gyarados. I could also include Blissey because it can wall heavy Special Attacks, and Gyarados can switch in on Fighting attacks for it, which otherwise could be it's demise.

In short, remember that there is no perfect team this genration. There wasn't even one last generation. So if you can only find a flaw or two, consider yourself lucky.

Interesting. So, if I wanted to build a team around Snorlax I would need to have a Fighting wall and Special Attacker to take what he can't?

Just pick the ones that you like the most.

When building teams, I generally pick a "favorite", and then look at other guys whom I like to build it around.
Afterwards, I'll analyze the weaknesses and such... and then change guys and whatever accordingly.

Gah, there are just too many to choose from

Yeah I know Garchomp/Blissey/Salamence can be hard to train but you can always opt for Dragonite which looks cool and maybe you have a fun time doing it.

I'm currently training Gliscor and Tangrowth for Physical walling because I'm bored of using Skarmory over and over again.

And like Origin said, you can pick your favorites and work with it.

I also have a hard time making teams, mainly because most pokemon I want to use are Special Attackers and I'd be immediatly wall'd by Blissy, and therefore lose to 90%+ of the population on Wi-Fi. I'm trying to build a team that involves Togekiss Flinch haxing/sweeping a team and making it weak, then having my Porygon-Z or Specsmence come in when Togekiss finally goes down to clean up, but I just can't decide what to do with the other team members.

i personally dislike using the same standards ans everyone else, so the team i'm training is slightly unorthodox (although still standard).

and just because something is the absolute best at what it does, doesnt mean you should limit yourself to it. i refuse to use blissey cos it just gets so boring.

I've always liked Dragonite for some reason. Maybe just because he was a better team player than most other sweepers. My fave Pokemon has always been Snorlax. So, I'll try and get a team working around him. And since Snorlax has thick fat I can switch into him if Dragonite is going to get Ice Beam'd. Or something like that

dragonite in turn can take a fighting move.

you're gonna need something to take care of CB sweepers though, rock slide/stone edge ppummels dragonite, and most other moves cause snorlax trouble.

maybe tangrowth or gliscor to go against the skarmory norm, or even something liek scizor if you want to be really cool :D

Thats a great start. You might even want a Heal Bell Dragonite, as it can heal itself of status conditions preventing it from sweeping, ALONG with waking Snorlax up.

Scizor FTW. Seriously, he's really underesitmated IMO. He has a great typing, and has some good STAB moves and attack power. I'm thinking about leading with my Scizor with Weavile becoming more and more popular now, just to scare it off.

Is Scizor fast enough to take CBers though? I know he needs at least one Agility to get up to pace with them most of the time. And I was thinking a CB Snorlax instead of the usual Curselax just because he covers more. Body Slam/Earthquake/Crunch/Fire Punch >:3 Just plain evil

Scizor is none to fast without Agility, but he should be able to take a hit at least, thanks to his decent defense and great typing. Just don't put him out against a fire attack. You could also use Scizor as a Baton Passer, to give your Snorlax a huge boost late game, to finish off your opponent. Swords Dance/Agility/Baton Pass/Filler.

Filler could be Substitute there.

You know what's really cool and you should use it? Leafeon. It can take a few physical hits (namely EQ), and Wishpass to Lax if you're using CB.

Troof. But I only think Agility is neccessary since Snorlax already has pretty amazing attack as is. Something like X-Scissor/Aerial Ace/Agility/Baton Pass.

Yea, that could work. You could also substitute Aerial Ace with Double Hit to make him a Sub Breaker. Either way, go with Technician as Scizors ability, it'll help a lot.

I just train everything I like, then each time I battle, I combine them to build a solid, but fun team. This way I can also test them in battle and not stay on the theory.

Also, Dusknoir would make for an excellent partner with Snorlax. It's over-used, but I still really like him. His Ghost typing makes him immune to fighting attacks, and he can WoW physical sweepers. Pain Split makes sure he lasts a long time in battle. Shadow Sneak and Focus/Thunder/Ice punch to get some damage in.

I also do this. I have about 12 Pokemon who I can call upon to form a team. This is especially easy now that battles automatically raise your Pokemon to level 100. Plus, it means when I'm rematching people I've already played, I can suprise them!

Indeed, the set to 100 matches is the best thing to come out of D/P for me,
i have a box of EV trained, egg moved pokes and about 2/3 of them are IV bred, out of that batch i think only 4-5 are OU and ill ussualy only put 1 on a team and still win, or come close.

Either way, if you dont have fun with you can always change it

I'm just going to aim to eventually train EVERY pokemon, so I'm not reallty bothered about teams at the moment. I just train stuff up, and then make teams out of them later :D

I think thats the most noble ambition I have ever heard.
