Ok so I used to play pokemon a lot , then I stopped for a while after school started because I jsut didn't have the time. Just about a week ago I started getting back into it again since I have more time. I made a new team for platinum, tested it a few times, changed it, tested, and changed it again, and now this is the result. I definitely could use any comments/criticism/advice anyone has to offer and nothing on this team is set in stone, its all just testing, so help! :)
Heatran@Focus Sash
Nature: Naive
Trait: Flashfire
EVs: 56Atk/200Spe/252SAtk
Explosion
Stealth Rock
Overheat
Earth Power
I didn't really know what to use for a lead, but this seems to working out pretty well. Sets up SR, then I either scout out wall/mence/something to explode on/just attack accordingly. I like the focus sash to get the SR guaranteed, but idk. Like I said its been workin decently, but I need something better. I want to use a different Heatran and lead with something else, but I', not sure yet.
Salamence@Life Orb
Nature: Naive
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 129Atk/129SAtk/252Spe
Draco Meteor
Outrage
Earthquake
Flamethrower
Just started testing this thing out. I kinda like this version, although its kinda thrown together. It powers through a lot of stuff, and Draco Meteor ? Outrage has been working pretty well with countering certain special/physical walls, and the other 2 moves are more or less fillers and give some decent type coverage.
Scizor@Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252Atk/252Spe/4HP
Bullet Punch
U-Turn
Superpower
Pursuit
Definately like this guy a lot. Since I just started playing again with platinum out, I am really seeing why bullet punch scizor is so good. I like the chioce band for some extra power and a CB'd bullet punch really cleans up a lot mid/late-game. Although, I have been considering switching over to the life orb version, not sure yet.
Gyarados@Wacan Berry
Nature: Adamant
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252Atk/252Spe/4HP
Waterfall
Ice Fang
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Honestly, I just think this thing is amazing. I have used this on all of my teams for as long as I can remember. Its really standard, but I just love everything about it. Its so easy to switch in, especially with intimidate, Wacan Berry is so good because it with survive really any electric attack besides STAB'd thunderbolts from zapdos/jolteon. DDance IMO is the best set-up move, and with such good type coverage, Waterfall, EQ, Ice fang, it takes out so much. Although I do love it, as I said I have used it on all of my teams for so long, it is getting kinda old and I wouldn't mind replacing it and getting a new face in here.
Machamp@Lum berry
Nature: Adamant
Trait: No Guard
EVs: 252Atk/252HP/4Spe
Dynamic Punch
Stone Edge
Substitute
Payback
I've always been dying to use Machamp, but never really got around to fitting him into any of my teams. Now that I finally am testing him, I am in love. This things beasts on so much. Generally I'll bring him in mid-game on a steel/blissey/something scared of him, and set up a sub, then take my free attacks on their switch in (many times they bring in ghosts anticipating the dynamicpunch, giving me a free payback), dynamic punch is just so good, confusion has one me tons of games. It was between Ice punch and stone edge, but I like stone edge to handle all the pesky flyers that come in on machamp. I went with Lum Berry because I like getting the easy switch in on status, and not being afraid to switch in on blissey because of twave, etc.
Starmie@Expert Belt
Nature: Timid
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252SAtk/252Spe/4HP
Surf
Grass Knot
Thunderbolt
Ice beam
This guy is pretty random. A pretty strange Starmie I guess, no recover, no rapid spin, no choice item, just an expert belt and some attacks. I wanted something to give me a ride array of attacks, and since starmie has such a diverse move pool, I wanted to try it out, without cluttering it up with things like recover/rapid spin. I went with expert belt over life orb because I generally want this guy to stay in for the long haul, so I didn't want to deal with the 10% recoil. Surf for stab, boltbeam, and then grass knot for random swamperts thats try to wall it.
