I like Latios, problem? (Peaked at 1372 on PO)

Hey guys, this is my third RMT, and I think I've finally understood how to insert pictures into my posts :)

Anyways, here's my RMT:

Changes are in red

Team Building Process:
---

[pimg]381[/pimg]
Since I like Latios, I decided to build a team around him. Latios is a very good special attacker that can punch holes in many teams that either don't have a dedicated special wall, steel type, or are simply unprepared for him

---

[pimg]381[/pimg] [pimg]186[/pimg]
I'm not a huge fan of Hidden Power Fire, and I was interested in trying to see how Latios would do on a rain team, so I added Politoed to give him perma-rain

---

[pimg]381[/pimg] [pimg]186[/pimg] [pimg]603[/pimg]

Part 1 of the Rotom-Gliscor-Ferrothorn Core.
Since Latios was going to be firing off Draco's repeatedly, I needed a good teamate to take hits for Latios as he switches out. Ferrothorn naturally came to mind for me. Rain also cancels out the x4 fire weakness to only x2, making him much harder to kill. I had previously used the infamous Rotom-Gliscor-Jirachi core, but didn't find it very suiting for my play style. I switched out Jirachi for Ferrothorn. Ferrothorn not only takes hits better than Jirachi, but provides Stealth Rock support as well as Paralysis support for my team, which is crucial for Latios to net lots of kills, along with Rotom-W.

---

[pimg]381[/pimg] [pimg]186[/pimg] [pimg]603[/pimg] [pimg]477[/pimg]
Part 2 of the Rotom-Gliscor-Ferrothorn Core.
Gliscor is pretty self-explanatory, and also helps Ferrothorn take all the fighting type moves directed towards it. Protect lets me scout, Taunt helps me stop slower pokemon from setting up on me, Earthquake hits hard (or soft) when I need it, while U-turn is for giving me a switch advantage when I need it

---

[pimg]381[/pimg] [pimg]186[/pimg] [pimg]603[/pimg] [pimg]477[/pimg] [pimg]484-W[/pimg]

Part 3 of the Rotom-Gliscor-Ferrothorn Core.
Rotom is my second special attacker on the team. Rain boosted STAB Hydropump and STAB Thunder are always going to hit something really hard. Few pokemon, namely Gastrodon, Ferrothorn, and Water Absorb Quagsire can switch into Rotom-W without getting hurt quite a bit. Rotom-W is also my lead most of the time, especially if I see that there is not a ground type pokemon in their party, allowing me to Volt-Switch freely and get a switch-advantage in on the very first turn. Rotom-W is also my late game sweeper, if the only Thunder / Hydropump resist on the other team is already half dead, I can easily say "GG"

---

[pimg]381[/pimg] [pimg]186[/pimg] [pimg]603[/pimg] [pimg]477[/pimg] [pimg]484-W[/pimg] [pimg]184[/pimg]

This Aqua Rabbit is very cute <3. Previously in Azumarill's place were Toxicroak, Scizor (Bulky SD), and the Choice Banded version of Scizor. However, after trial-and error, I found out that Volcarona and Excadrill both posed pretty big threads to my team, especially if Politoed was dead, and Rotom-W and Gliscor were at low health. Azumarill covers both threats with its amazing 654 Attack Stat after the Choice Band boost and Priority STAB Aqua Jet in rain. Unless your opponent has a Jellicent, something will get seriously maimed when Azumarill comes in. Azumarill can also kill opposing Ferrothorns that are silly enough to stay and and hope to take a Superpower. Together with Rotom-W, Azumarill is also my late-game sweeper, easily picking off pokemon that were severely dented by namely Latios.

[pimg]186[/pimg]
Politoed (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Protect
- Toxic
- Perish Song

I had used both Scarf and Specs Politoed at one point, and I didn't really like either. I needed a more defensive weather starter that could stay for longer periods of time through out the match, and not make me lose weather wars. Since the Pokemon Online server allows Swift Swim, after getting severely owned by a Kingdra, the opponent kindly suggested to me the possibility of Perish Song over Ice Beam on the last move slot, and it has worked great ever since. The EV Spreads aim to give Politoed more Special defensive bulk, allowing it to contribute to taking hits along with Gliscor, Ferrothorn, and Rotom-W (to some extent).

[pimg]381[/pimg]
Latios (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Surf
- Thunder

Latios is the pokemon I built this team around. I've used Choice Specs and Scarf at one point, but I've always found Expert Belt to be the best. It has the (slight) element of surprise, and it's often easy to fool the opponent into thinking that I am choiced as opposed to some other held item. Draco Meteor hits anything that doesn't resist it really hard, Psyshock is for fighitng types, such as Breloom, though I plan to replace it with something else (suggestions please!). Surf and Thunder are used to take full advantage of rain.

[pimg]477[/pimg]
Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 176 Def / 88 Spd (Testing 208 HP / 80 Def / 220 Spe at the moment)
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake
- Taunt

Gliscor is a pretty amazing physical wall. The set is pretty "standard", though I don't use 244 HP EV's to get a little more speed in. Protect is for scouting, as is U-turn, which also gives me a switch advantage. Earthquake helps me hit steels, namely Excadrills that have lost their balloons. Taunt also helps me prevent the opponent from setting up, namely Skarmories, who usually aren't patient enough to wait the three turns out.

[pimg]603[/pimg]
Ferrothorn (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes

Ferrothorn is pretty amazing. The EV's are self-explanatory, allowing me to survive very strong physical hits as well as special attacks (copied off of the Smogon analysis :D). Thunderwave provides paralysis support for my team, which is especially helpful after my Rotom-W has tricked away his Scarf, as well as for stopping pokemon that may outspeed Latios, and Azumarill. Stealth Rocks provides entry hazards support, leech seed for recovery, and Power Whip for damage so I don't become taunt bait, and to whack those DW Espeon's hard.

[pimg]484 - W[/pimg]
Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch / Signal Beam (Needs more testing to finalize)
- Trick

Rotom-W, along with Latios, is one of the most important members of my team. STAB Thunder and Rain boosted STAB Hydropump are very deadly combinations that can tear through lots of teams that are caught unprepared. Only the occasional Water Absorb Quagsire and Gastrodon will rather annoy me. Rotom-W is also my lead pokemon most of the time if I see in team preview that the opponent does not have a ground type pokemon or a potential lightning-rod user on their team. Volt-Switch the first turn gives me literally a switch-advantage the very first turn, and it's really nice.

[pimg]184[/pimg]
Azumarill (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Huge Power
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Superpower

Azumarill is the really cute and awesome Aqua Rabbit Pokemon on my team. With Paralysis support, I can confidently use Waterfall on every pokemon not named Gastrodon, Jellicent, Quagsire, and Cradily. Waterfall will do a huge chunk of damage even to defensive pokemon like Skarmory. Super Power and Ice Punch are for killing Ferro's and Dragons effectively, namely dragons who think they're smart enough to predict a "weak" Aqua Jet coming.

Note: I can't seem to get the Ferrothorn and Rotom-W Icons to work, can someone please tell me the codes for them?

Hi, nice team. For the Ferro and Rotom pics, you can just copy paste directly into the post.

I question the Gliscor set. U-Turn gives Excadrill and Terrakion another turn to set up as you break their balloon, so they can kill you on the next try since they're now at +4. Definately replace U-Turn and Protect with Ice Fang and Swords Dance. Ice Fang also helps you hit dragons and Swords Dance+Taunt lets you beat Conkeldurr.

Your team also has problems against Reuniclus. Since most of Azumarill's roles are already replicated by Gliscor, I suggest dropping it for another abuser: Sharpedo. Sharpedo makes for a great late game cleaner with Speed Boost and can rock Reuniclus hard with a Crunch.

Sharpedo @ Life Orb
Speed Boost
Adamant
252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 Hp
Protect
Waterfall
Crunch
Earthquake

Some minor suggestions:

Try out a Relaxed nature and no more than 10 Speed IVs on Politoed. This will make you slower than Tyranitar and allow you to get up Rain first when both are sent out at the same time (like at the start of a match).

I really think you could fit in Recover on Latios, preferably over Thunder. The small bit of extra coverage provided by the latter doesn't help nearly as much as the recovery will.

Swords Dance on Gliscor is a good suggestion, as it will also help out against Conkeldurr. If you want to use Ice Fang, I also recommend an EV spread of 244 HP / 176 Def / 88 Spd to speed creep opposing Gliscor while maximizing Poison Heal recovery.

On Ferrothorn, try a Careful nature with an EV spread of 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 SDef. This will maximize your special bulk while preventing a 2HKO from CB Haxorus' Earthquake. I also think you could really benefit from slotting in Spikes over either Thunder Wave or Leech Seed - whichever you find less useful.

There are some lingering issues that I'd like to patch up, but that's all I have in terms of changes to your current team. Just be sure to watch out for stuff like SubCM Water Pulse Jirachi and stall teams, since both can get pretty problematic. A Jirachi of your own could help out against Reuniclus and the Lati twins, but you'd have to figure out what to replace. Good luck!

Sorry about the late response. I've tested out the Ferrothorn and it works pretty nicely. However, I need Thunder on Latios, though having little additional coverage, to kill pokemon like Jellicent and other Bulky Waters. The SD Gliscor suggestion also worked pretty nicely. Unfortunately, since I'm busy at the moment, I'll edit in the changes later to the original post. In the mean time, any more suggestions, people?

Nasty Plot Celebi, Swords Dance Toxicroak and Lucario seem to be the biggest threats to your team. All three can get an easy set-up on Azumarill locked into the appropriate attack, while the former two can also get in a boost on one of Rotom-W's attack as well (Celebi can set-up on any move bar Trick). Celebi can then cause a lot of damage, as your best option is then Latios's Draco Meteor which won't KO, and it can just stall you out with Recover thanks to the -2 recoil, everything else will get mauled by boosted Giga Drain or Hidden Power Fire in Ferrothorn's case. Toxicroak and Lucario are equally problematic to your team, as your main line of defense against Physical attackers, Gliscor, is handled by Ice Punch. The two 'mons faster than them, Latios and Rotom-W, are handled by Sucker Punch and Extremespeed, respectively.

Trying out Signal Beam over Volt Switch or Thunder on Rotom-W, will help a ton in dealing with Celebi, as you're doing 78.2% - 92.2%, and with a layer of Spikes and Stealth Rock, you can OHKO with ease. Volt Switch and Thunder are kind of redundant, and you won't lose much by replacing one of them, as you'l still have a solid STAB attack regardless of which one you replace. Will-O-Wisp over Trick is also a good option to hinder Moxie DD Scrafty, who looks kind of dangerous.

To help out with the Lucario and Toxicroak, you might want to try a spread of 208 HP / 80 Def / 220 Spd with an Impish nature on Gliscor, tailored to fit the needs of your team. You'll be able to outspeed Adamant variants of both (which are the most common), take their priority moves with relative ease, and KO with Earthquake. In addition to this, you might want to give Swords Dance and Ice Fang a try, to have a shot and dismantling stall, and Bulky DD Dragonite looks a bit annoying, so Ice Fang can help you out here. You have Excadrill / Terrakion / Landorus revenged by Azumarill, so the loss in bulk shouldn't be too much of an issue (it still is very bulky, though).

I know you said you didn't want Hidden Power Fire on Latios over Thunder, but given the numerous opportunities that you give Ferrothorn to set-up on you, it might be worth it (especially since you can lure it out with Surf).

I edited in some of the changes that has worked out for me. I still need some more testing to either stay or part with Volt Switch on Rotom.

What do you guys think about Choice Scarf Latios with Hidden Power Fighting?

Ferrothorn (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes

I think you need seeds.

Ferrothorn (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes

I think you need seeds.

I'll try playing without T-wave then, but that has served me well. Unfortunately, Ferro can't have Stealth Rocks, Leech Seed, AND Spikes on the same moveset. In which case, to make room for spikes, I'll have to remove Stealth Rocks.

Suggestions for a Stealth Rocker?
