I object to Zheng-i-can't-spell-his-name (ZhengTann vs Objection)

Geodude6

Look at my shiny CT!
I apologize that I took way too long to get up. So without further ado...

OK, I have 3 battle slots, so I am issuing 3 challenges.

3v3 (see below for format)
LC mons, preferably up to 20 moves only
2 substitutions
2 recoveries, 5 chills
3-day DQ

Now, here's where this gets interesting. One of these challenges will be a singles, one will be a doubles and one will be a triples. Which one you accept will determine the arena.

If you pick doubles, you'd better have a lot of fairly weak LC mons because the arena will be this:

You were traversing the dungeon. You reached the last floor before the boss battle. You found the room with the stairs. Then suddenly ... IT'S A MONSTER HOUSE!

But not just any monster house, oh no. The monsters in this monster house are pokemon from the player's own ASB profiles (with the condition that only pokemon suitable for the battle can be chosen - no bringing a 40-move Tyranitar to a weakmons fight for example - and pokemon that have been sent in for the players' teams cannot be monsters as well).

At the start of the battle, three suitable pokemon will be chosen by the ref from each player's profile, and then in each action, one of the six monsters will use one of its moves at random. The monsters will not use moves that affect only themselves or their allies except for stat-boosting moves, and when they use moves that affect opponents, the moves will only affect the battling pokemon, with single-target moves choosing randomly from the active battling pokemon and multi-target moves hitting all active battling pokemon. The monsters will not get any counters from the battle, including KOC. The monsters cannot be affected in any way by the battling pokemon.

All moves are still usable in the monster house and, apart from the monsters' moves working slightly differently as described above, they work as normal.
Taking Obj's 3v3 LC Doubles in the Monster House here. This'll be a rather difficult reffing so please avoid this unless you really want to be bugged by ASB's Pedant of Pedants :P

There was a little mix-up for my original team, but with my triples ending so quickly, I found a solution to that problem.

Have fun reffing this. Don't worry if you mess up - Obj will usually bail you out. And I will, too, if I can. Good to have refs like you :)

Rebble - Erza (F)

A swordsman wields the blade with graceful precision, just as Erza uses her attacks with dangerous beauty. She walked in on one of Gray and Natsu’s brawls, and the resulting free-for-all wore on for half a day before Zheng can subdue her with a Pokeball. Unknowingly for her, that fight left a lasting impression on the two – they’re cautious almost to the point of fearful whenever in her company since then. Wendy and Charla looks up to her as a role model, though, and it was Erza who took care of them, even though she was newer to the family.

Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Take 2 less damage from all special attacks during Sandstorm. Able to use Sand Tomb without losing focus.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Levitate
Type: Innate
This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the all seismic moves. Earth Power will have 3 less BAP. Dig and Dive can still strike a Levitating Pokemon, but only if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Other Ground moves can still hit.

Ability 2: Technician
Type: Innate
This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally deal 6 or below base damage to have their base damage multiplied by 1.5. The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) damage, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2).

Ralts - Lucy (F)

Born without a family in the wild, Lucy’s life has been fraught with peril of being hunted and bullied by most other wild, stronger Pokemon. One such incident left her under severe shock from poison by an unknown aggressive Poison-type. Had a trainer not happened by, she would’ve died or at best, crippled for life. Luckily, Zheng was the second trainer to found her, called by a fellow trainer who was looking for mushrooms in that region. Together they saved the Ralts, and after a brief discussion Zheng named her Lucy and brought her into his family. Gray was the first to be able to contact directly with her, but it was through efforts and enthusiasm of the whole gang that brought her out of trauma and into life again.

Nature: Relaxed (+1 Def, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion)

Type:
Psychic type: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks, however, cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Synchronize
Type: Innate
This Pokemon can mentally link their condition to an opposing Pokemon and pass on any status inflicted on them to their foe. Poison-types cannot be poisoned and Fire-types cannot be burned in this manner.

Ability 2: Trace
Type: Can be Activated
When entering into battle, this Pokemon can copy an ability on one of its opponents for 6 EN. The Ability remains on the Pokemon for six (6) actions. Trace can be reused with an action later in battle for 5 EN.Wonder Guard cannot be Traced.

Ability 3: Telepathy (DW)
Type: Innate

Grimer - Cana (F)

Cana is an alcoholic, probably one of the very few Pokemon throughout the world to actually enjoy imbibing such beverages. Her natural biological system is the prime cause for her incredible alcoholic tolerance, and also of her encounter with Zheng - she was drinking in the wine cellar under a small inn when the innkeeper caught her red-handed. Flustered, the innkeeper cannot do anything without Pokemons, and Zheng arrived to save half the cellar, while paying off the other half. Flirtatious and often half-drunk, she's quite an addition to the family - as well as quite the reason of Zheng's oft-empty purse.

Nature: Quiet (+1 SpA, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion)

Type:
Poison type: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Stench
Type: Innate
Cana's sexy, boozy odor reeks into each of its attacks, causing all of them to have a 10% flinch rate. This applies to each hit of a multi-hit move.

Ability 2: Sticky Hold
Type: Innate
Cana cradles her items much like the way she cradles her alcohol barrel, in a strong grip that prevents item theft or swapping.

Ability 3: Poison Touch (DW)
Type: Can be Disabled
Cana can channel her body's alcoholic resistances into a form of offense. Whenever she hits an opponent with a contact attack, that opponent has a 30% chance of being Poisoned. If disabled, all of her attacks that inflict regular poison will inflict Toxic poison (with the same chance of effect).

Intimidate (DW): (Can be Activated) When this Pokemon initially goes out into the battlefield, it generates an intimidating roar or war cry that shakes all opponents on the battlefield, reducing thier Attack stage by one (1). (e.g. Aerial Ace goes from 6 to 9, Mach Punch goes from 4 to 6, Double Hit to from 4 per hit to 6 per hit etc.) The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) Base Attack Power, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2). Because Technician is a multiplier on single hit moves, its effect is applied to Base Attack Power before any additive effects. Technician only applies to combos in the rare case that an initial hit will have 6 or less BAP.
Light Metal (DW UNLOCKED): (Innate) The Pokemon's body is made of a lightweight but extremely strong alloy. It weighs half as much as other members of the species, but is equally sturdy. The Pokemon executes weak attacks much more effectively, adding +1 priority to all their attacks with 6 or less Base Attack Power (after other ability adjustments). From Zhengg:
Chikorita - Wendy (F)

They say the calmest waters often hide the most turbulent undercurrents, the stillest air often the premonition to the most terrible storms. So does Wendy. She's nice and pretty, often the team's peacemaker (pacemaker too), but her spirit is indomitable. In battle, Wendy wields the very force of nature itself - the plants and the wind that blows between leaves are her primary defences. Wendy is very trusting of strangers, despite Charla's frequent rebukes, but the fact that they're inseparable makes most Daycare visitors hesitate - except for Zheng. Wendy looks upon Natsu and Gray as big brothers, and they respond in kind - protective of their siblings as if of the same lineage.

Nature: Calm (+1 SpD, -1 Atk)

Type:
Grass type: Grass STAB; immunity to Leech Seed and Worry Seed. 50% reduction in status effect chance of oncoming "powder" attacks. More mobile in areas with strong natural light sources. Superior senses in tall grass and forest areas. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus.

Riolu(*) Gray (M)

Gray the Riolu first clapped eyes on Zt when he hatched, and has followed him ever since, after bidding goodbye to his birth parents. His desire to be as good as his father (who was a well-known Pokemon in Sinnoh) drives him to perfect his body and trademark Aura Sight in all forms of training. Gray is Natsu’s rival in every way, however it’s not unusual to see them interrupt their fights just to face ‘outsiders’. Like his Ice-Making namesake, Gray is a thinking brawler. His intuition for fights, along with his uncanny ability to read his opponents movements, means he can usually counter the same instant his opponent makes a move. Oddly enough, despite numerous brawls, he sometimes still can’t read Natsu’s moves correctly.

Nature: Adamant (+1 Atk, -1 SpAtk)

Type:
Fighting type: Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw. Superior reaction time in close quarters.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Steadfast
Type: Innate
If this Pokemon is flinched, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases Speed by one (1) stage to make up the difference. This Speed boost is maintained at the end of each round.

Ability 2: Inner Focus
Type: Innate
When an opponent attempts to flinch Riolu, it stands firm and continues its attack. If it has another ability that would be activated by flinching, that ability activates.

Ability 3: Prankster (DW unlocked)

Riolu is always prepared for engaging in subtle tactics, giving its non-damaging attacks an increase in priority level.

Snorunt - Juvia (F)

Juvia has a terrible crush on Gray. Period. This romance probably started when she spied Gray practicing the Ice Punches (since it worked quite well against Natsu) and she has been tagging along ever since. There's nothing Zheng could do to dissuade her, so he figured he might as well adopt Juvia too. Unfortunately, Gray is blind to the obvious - or rather, he does not find it in himself to reciprocate. Faced against such cool indifference, Juvia did not back down, making a promise to herself that she will, one day, let Gray see that she is already in his heart. Not that Gray isn't acting like a gentleman - so some of his actions towards Juvia was probably misleading, as well.

Nature: Timid (+15% Speed, +8% Accuracy, -1 Atk)

Type:
Ice type: Ice STAB; immune to freezing and Sheer Cold, no vision loss or damage in Hail or snowstorm conditions, perfectly accurate and 30% Protect breaking Blizzard in Hail. Superior senses and mobility in frozen caves and other frigid arenas.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Inner Focus
Type: Innate
When an opponent attempts to flinch Juvia, she stands firm and continues its attack by reminding herself of her love towards Gray.

Ability 2: Ice Body
Type: Innate
Juvia loves ice and hail, thriving in Icy conditions and able to absorb energy from Hailstones to recover two (2) HP/action in Hail.

Ability 3: Moody (DW)
Type: Innate
Juvia's unreciprocated love causes her feelings to always fluctuate, and its greatly influencing her capabilities from one round to the next. In addition to her general nature, Juvia displays a burst of emotional power each round that shares characteristics with other natures, affecting the Pokemon's Ranks directly. At the end of each round the Pokemon changes its Moody nature (roll out of 25 R1 and out of 24 in subsequent rounds), a nature that has the regular drawbacks of a nature but enhances that nature's strengths.

Uhm, sorry about the corrections:

- Rebble's Mud Shot costs 5 EN after Technician, and deals (6*1.5)+(6-3) = 18 damage to Cranidos A1.
- Cranidos' Iron Head deals [8+2+3+(7.5-3)] = 26.25 damage to Rebble A1 and A3 after factoring criticals and Sheer Force, and 21.75 damage in A2.
- Scizor's Aerial Ace A2 would've dealt [(6*1.5)+(7.5-3)]/1.5 = 9 damage to Cranidos after factoring Technician.
- Voodoll's Follow Me costs 8 EN and 12 EN in A2 and A3 respectively after STAB.
- Cranidos' Iron Head costs 6 EN, 10 EN, and 14 EN for all 3 actions (attacks cost 4 more EN per consecutive use)
- Earth Power is not a spread move, so Rebble only dealt 9+(6-1.5) = 13.5 damage to Voodoll A2.
- Larvitar's Dark Pulse A3 deals [8+(4.5-1.5)]/1.5 = 7.333 damage to Voodoll, or in other words, it broke the Substitute.
- Rebble's Mud Shot deals (6*1.5)+(6-1.5) = 13.5 damage towards Voodoll, and still costs 5 EN due to Technician.

So, all in all, these would be the post-round stats:

Voodoll: 63 HP, 68 EN, -1 Speed
Cranidos: 65 HP, 70 EN, -1 Speed
Rebble: 15 HP, 83 EN
Grimer: 100 HP, 87 EN

I might have left something out, so Obj should look over as well if there's time to do so.

Err...

  • Taunt from Voodoll costs 9 EN due to STAB, and have the 85% accuracy after Minimize.
  • Pain Split also costs 1 EN less due to STAB, so in the end Voodoll would end up with 39 EN post-round.
  • Cranidos spent 16 EN total to end at 54 EN post-round.
But aside from that, I'll continue on.

Not that it matters much, but Voodoll does not get STAB on Mach Punch, so it should only have done 8.25 damage. By contrast, it does get STAB on Faint Attack, meaning that should've done 10.5 damage. Furthermore, since Cranidos fainted on action 1, Grimer's Thunderbolt on action 2 should've been directed at Voodoll (and done 13 damage because this Voodoll's special defence is pants). Voodoll's Substitute appears to be missing from the end of round summary. Finally, since we both have only one benched mon left, sending out can be done automatically instead of explicitly (although I will say that AUTO the Klink will hold an Exp. Share).

Okay... I always thought Voodoll was Normal-Fighting, dunno why. Other than that, the errors have been fixed, thanks for pointing them out. :)

Lotso the Voodoll: Taunt (Ralts) - Psychic (Grimer) - Psychic (Grimer)
If Ralts uses a protective/evasive move on action 1, change that action to Faint Attack (Grimer) and push actions back.
If Psychic is disabled, replace all remaining instances of it with Faint Attack (Grimer)
If Grimer is KO'd, change all remaining actions to Faint Attack (Ralts)

AUTO the Klink (@ Exp. Share & Plus): Gravity - Gear Grind (Grimer) - Gear Grind (Grimer)
If Grimer uses a damaging Fire-type move on you and you did not use Protect on the previous action, change that action to Protect and push actions back.
If Grimer uses a damaging Ground-type move on you and you did not use Protect on the previous action, change that action to Protect and push actions back.
If Grimer is KO'd, redirect all remaining actions to Ralts.
