Sounds good on paper, since scoops can definitely do get stuck trying to carve out super frozen ice cream, but you can also get the same benefit by just dunking the spoon in hot water between scoops. makes for a slightly moister but still satisfying ice cream serving (:

When I worked at one we just left a scoop in the ice cream tub for each flavor. Convenient and stops cross-contamination between the nut and non-nut flavors.

We used the hot-water trick on metal spatulas when we scraped the sides of the tubs at the end of the day, though
