Ike123 vs. Husk: An uber warstory

Ubers are a long lost metagame that have recently been restored through the uber ladder on Shoddybattle. My opponent was Husk, and he is quite a formidable foe and despite being known for his excellent OU skills, he is no pushover in the uber metagame. I urge many of you to try out the uber tier for it provides a much faster pace than any other metagame in d/p and provides a much more interesting battle as well and I hope this warstory can convince you to join this metagame. However you’ll are not here to listen to me rant about the awesomeness of the uber tier and are here for a battle.

Nicknames will be omitted.
Weather Effects will be ommited.
Leftovers will be omitted.
Score will be presented after each KO (Ike123-Husk)
Battle Text will be in Bold.
Commentary will be plainly written.
If 2 of the same pokemon are on the scene together than mine will have a star next too it. *

Before we start I'd like show the teams and also this was done with little knowledge of each other’s team.

Ike123’s Team

Husk’s Team

SO LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!

husk sent out Darkrai (lvl 100 Darkrai).
Ike123 sent out Darkrai* (lvl 100 Darkrai).

My darkrai is maxed speed but I can’t take unnecessary risks and I would not like to lose the speed tie since husk’s darkrai is most likely maxed as well. As a player who tries to avoid the hax against me, I retreat to my Kyogre who can absorb the sleep with no problem at all since it’s a resttalker.

Ike123 switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
Rain began to fall!
Darkrai used Dark Void.
Kyogre fell asleep!
The rain continues to fall.
Kyogre lost 12% of its health.
Kyogre's leftovers restored its health a little!
Kyogre restored 6% of its health.

--- This went exactly as planned as I now take Darkrai’a sleep and retreat to jirachi to take an expected thunder.

Ike123 switched in Jirachi (level 100 Jirachi).
Darkrai used Thunder.
Jericho lost 30% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.

Voila, thunder it is. Now Husk knows that his darkrai is at a disadvantage against my jirachi for I could easily stall it out with wish and protect. However I was thinking on the same line as Husk and I use u turn on the expected jirachi counter coming in.

husk switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
The rain stopped.
The sun began to shine!
Jirachi used U-turn.
Groudon lost 12% of its health.

Just as planned Groudon comes smashing in, only to be met by jirachi fleeing from the scene but not before delivering a light blow to its face.

Ike123 switched in Darkrai (lvl 100 Darkrai).
The sun continues to shine.
Darkrai used Substitute.
Darkrai lost 25% of its health.
Darkrai made a substitute!
Groudon used Earthquake.
The substitute took damage for Darkrai!
Darkrai's substitute faded!
The sun continues to shine.
Darkrai's leftovers restored its health a little!
Darkrai restored 6% of its health.

--- I now summon darkrai to the field again for a repeat performance and expecting a switch to some one to absorb the sleep, I used substitute to shield myself. Little knowing the surprise I was in for.

Darkrai used Dark Void.
Groudon fell asleep!
Groudon's Lum Berry cured its Sleep!
Groudon used Earthquake.
Darkrai lost 81% of its health.
Ike123's Darkrai fainted.
The sun continues to shine.

--- Damn that lum berry took me by surprise and looks like Groudon was that sleep absorber I thought he would switch into, so now one of my best Pokemon is down and out for the count . The sun is still up so I have to send out Kyogre since Palkia can’t KO in the sun or Latias so I took my chances with my resttalk Ogre

5-6 Advantage Husk

Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
The sun faded.
Rain began to fall!
Groudon used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
Kyogre is fast asleep!
Kyogre used Sleep Talk.
Kyogre used Surf.
It's super effective!
Groudon lost 88% of its health.
husk's Groudon fainted.
The rain continues to fall.
Kyogre's leftovers restored its health a little!
Kyogre restored 6% of its health.
--- Yes, as expected he uses stealth rock and I actually pull off a surf which sends crashing waves down upon his Groudon like a ton of bricks and this evens the playing field.

5-5

husk switched in Palkia (lvl 100 Palkia).
Palkia is exerting its pressure!

Now Palkia is on the field and a match up against a resttalker Ogre is clearly its advantage. And from an encounter with it a week ago, I could tell that it was scarfed and so I retreated to Jirachi to take a hit from its special rend or thunder seeing as it needs 2 hits to even KO this pixie.

Ike123 switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Palkia used Thunder.
Jirachi lost 37% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
---
It thunders me and in the rain even protect can not sheild me against his thunder’s wrath but knowing that husk would most likely be too aggressive, I switch into Groudon for a free switch in.

Ike123 switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
The rain stopped.
The sun began to shine!
Pointed stones dug into Groudon.
Groudon lost 6% of its health.
Palkia used Thunder.
It doesn't affect Groudon...
The sun continues to shine.
Groudon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Groudon restored 6% of its health.
---
Now I know that husk will switch out since his Palkia is less useful than a caterpie currently and although I have dragon claw, husk would expect me to use it against his palkia. However, after thinking it through, I knew that he would retreat to his Specs Ogre since it can take a dragon claw with ease and retaliate with its higher speed so I intended to hit it hard before it could attack and at the same time suppress his water spout’s power.

husk switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
The sun faded.
Rain began to fall!
Groudon used Earthquake.
Kyogre lost 64% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
---
Now I faced the dilemma of whether he would ice beam or surf seeing as both are a 1HKO on groudon, but my latias could take on any assault launched at it, even a Specs Ogre ice beam.

Ike123 switched in Latias (lvl 100 Latias ?).
Pointed stones dug into Latias.
Latias lost 12% of its health.
Kyogre used Surf.
It's not very effective...
Latias lost 37% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
---
Now I thundered hoping to take down that bloated whale once in for all with a mighty blast.

husk switched in Metagross (lvl 100 Metagross).
Latias used Thunder.
Metagross lost 47% of its health.
Metagross is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
The rain continues to fall.
---
Dang only 47 percent, this is one of those times that I wished I had Latios instead of Latias for he would 2HKO unlike Latias, however last time I checked husk had life orb for his tin can spider which means a KO against him if he attacks, so I stay in hoping to finish it off.

Angelina has entered the room.
Latias used Thunder.
Metagross lost 47% of its health.
Metagross used Explosion.
Latias lost 51% of its health.
Ike123's Latias fainted.
husk's Metagross fainted.
The rain continues to fall.
---
Damn explosion, now a double KO and I send out my scarfed Palkia to hopefully take his darkrai switch in by surprise.

4-4

Angelina has left the room.
husk switched in Palkia (lvl 100 Palkia).
Ike123 switched in Palkia* (lvl 100 Palkia).
Palkia is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Palkia.
Palkia lost 12% of its health.
Palkia is exerting its pressure!

Damn its husk’s scarfed Palkia and I don’t want to risk a speed tie since my palkia is the only thing faster than his Kyogre besides jirachi who can’t do shit to it. So I switch out to Jirachi to take a special rend.

Ike123 switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Palkia used Spacial Rend.
It's not very effective...
Jirachi lost 20% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
---
I was right again as he uses it but now I had less than 20 percent health and I had to use protect which now puts me out of KO range.

Jirachi used Protect.
Jirachi protected itself!
Palkia used Spacial Rend.
Jirachi protected itself!
The rain continues to fall.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
---
I would be screwed if husk had switched into his Rayquaza for it could set up as I wish but nonetheless I needed more health if I wanted to take on his Darkrai or Palkia another day.

husk switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
Jirachi used Wish.
Jirachi made a wish!
The rain continues to fall.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
---
I used protect to simultaneously heal and scout out his attack to make my next move against husk.

Jirachi used Protect.
Jirachi protected itself!
Kyogre used Surf.
Jirachi protected itself!
The wish came true!
Jirachi restored 50% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
---
Now was the moment, this was the moment I needed to come in and send another one of his pokes packing and so I change to Palkia.

Ike123 switched in Palkia (lvl 100 Palkia).
Palkia is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Palkia.
Palkia lost 12% of its health.
Kyogre used Surf.
It's not very effective...
Palkia lost 28% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.

--- An easy switch in for my Palkia but still I was accumulating a lot of damage due to the rocks digging into my Palkias body like knives and those roaring waves that did about 30 percent even with quad resistance.

Palkia used Spacial Rend.
A critical hit!
Kyogre lost 36% of its health.
husk's Kyogre fainted.
The rain continues to fall.
---
Down into oblivion that sea beast goes but husk takes no time in grieving for his monster and sends in Darkrai to harass my Palkia. Now this sucks, at full health his devil of a Pokemon can survive my rend and almost ko it, so my secret weapon returns again.

4-3 Advantage Ike123

husk switched in Darkrai (lvl 100 Darkrai).
Cuteslims has entered the room.
Ike123 switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Darkrai used Dark Pulse.
Jirachi lost 28% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
---
Guess who? It’s jirachi who takes the assaualt as easily as taking candy from a baby and having more than 50% health meant that I could survive at least 2 blows before falling, so I u turn out to possibly scout out his last pokemon or deliver a mighty blow which puts Darkrai in KO range for my scarf Palkia.

Cuteslims: Go, Husk!
Cuteslims has left the room.
husk switched in Rayquaza (lvl 100 Rayquaza).
Jirachi used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Rayquaza lost 8% of its health.
Ike123 switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
The rain stopped.
The sun began to shine!
Pointed stones dug into Groudon.
Groudon lost 6% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.
Groudon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Groudon restored 6% of its health.
---
Oh that was real cool, but this motivated me onward to beat husk.
Husk must have thought that I would use protect and get a free switch in for his Ray and set up on me possibly sweeping my whole team but now that Groudon is on the field his Ray is as dead as a duck. Now I can’t over predict and earthquake and try to kill his Darkrai, so I was blind to an great switch in by husk.

husk switched in Darkrai (lvl 100 Darkrai).
Groudon used Dragon Claw.
Darkrai lost 40% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.
---
My dragon claw was a glancing blow on his Darkrai and now I could take a dark pulse from his beast or I could retreat to jirachi who can take more than 2 blows even with stealth rocks digging in its body. I have to retreat to jirachi since Groudon needs to be at full health to take on his Sky serpent.

Ike123 switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Darkrai used Dark Pulse.
Jirachi lost 28% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.
Jirachi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jirachi restored 6% of its health.
---
Now with a bit over 30% which means I can survive at least 1 more blasr from his demon. By now husk must be really annoyed at this little pixie who stands up to his Dark Nightmare repeatedly without falling and at my current health I made the choice to use u turn to injure his Ray or to bring in my scarf Palkia to KO Rai if it stays in.

husk switched in Rayquaza (lvl 100 Rayquaza).
Jirachi used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Rayquaza lost 8% of its health.
Ike123 switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
Pointed stones dug into Groudon.
Groudon lost 6% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.
Groudon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Groudon restored 6% of its health.
---
Same old, same old as I use u turn on his Dragon of the Sky and send out the Rock Titan to absorb his steel claws.

Rayquaza used Swords Dance.
Rayquaza's attack was sharply raised.
Groudon used Dragon Claw.
It's super effective!
Rayquaza lost 66% of its health.
The sun continues to shine.
---
He uses his sword dance and gives it an extravagant boost in power and I knew that despite his magnificent boost it falls short of KOing my Titan.

Rayquaza used Dragon Claw.
Groudon lost 66% of its health.
Groudon used Dragon Claw.
It's super effective!
Rayquaza lost 18% of its health.
husk's Rayquaza fainted.
The sun continues to shine.
Groudon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Groudon restored 6% of its health.
---
It was do or die for his Ray since he already used a SD and took a dragon claw from my Ground legend so now he dragon claws or his SD would have been wasted. His serpent falls from the sky but not before delivering a near fatal blow.

4-2 Advantage Ike123

husk switched in Darkrai (lvl 100 Darkrai).
Ike123 switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Darkrai used Dark Pulse.
Jirachi lost 26% of its health.
Ike123's Jirachi fainted.
---
An idiotic move that was since jirachi still could wall his scarf Palkia if it used special rend and pp stall it out especially since Groudon with only about 30 percent health left was useless to me. I knew this battle was going to be down the wire with our Palkias eventually facing off in a showdown now that my walling pixie was out of the battle.

3-2 Advantage Ike123

Ike123 switched in Palkia (lvl 100 Palkia).
Palkia is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Palkia.
Palkia lost 12% of its health.
Twist of Fate has entered the room.
Palkia used Draco Meteor.
Darkrai lost 60% of its health.
husk's Darkrai fainted.
Palkia's special attack was harshly lowered.
The sun continues to shine.
---
I was still not going to take chances with a special rend not KOing his Rai so I used an attack so powerful that you lose some power after its use, Draco Meteor.

3-1 Advantage Ike123

husk switched in Palkia (lvl 100 Palkia).
Palkia is exerting its pressure!
Ike123 switched in Kyogre (lvl 100 Kyogre).
Kyogre's Drizzle caused a storm!
The sun faded.
Rain began to fall!
Pointed stones dug into Kyogre.
Kyogre lost 12% of its health.
Palkia used Spacial Rend.
Kyogre lost 37% of its health.
The rain continues to fall.
Kyogre's leftovers restored its health a little!
Kyogre restored 6% of its health.
---
The choice was obvious, since my meteor storm had weakened me to the point that I could not KO his time machine. I switched to kyogre to take his dragon blast.

Palkia used Spacial Rend.
Kyogre lost 39% of its health.
Kyogre is fast asleep!
The rain continues to fall.
Kyogre's leftovers restored its health a little!
Kyogre restored 6% of its health.
---
It struck with a force so mighty that my whale would be fish sticks in another blow but I stuck in to absorb another time blast and hopefully absorb all of its power to win the battle in the most unskilled way possible.

Ike123: what is your spd for palk
husk: no idea
Palkia used Spacial Rend.
Kyogre lost 24% of its health.
Ike123's Kyogre fainted.
The rain continues to fall.
---
To the locker my pokemon goes and now my nerves are shot. My thoughts all center around the thought of whose Palkia was faster. Mine or his, the thought revolved around me but I had to send out my now worthless Rock monster to hopefully score a dragon claw on his Palkia through a miss.

2-1 Advantage Ike123

husk: what's yours?
Ike123: is it timid
Ike123: mine is timid maxed spd
husk: nope mine isn't timid
Ike123 switched in Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).
Groudon's Drought intensified the sun's rays!
The rain stopped.
The sun began to shine!
Pointed stones dug into Groudon.
Groudon lost 6% of its health.
Palkia used Spacial Rend.
Groudon lost 34% of its health.
Ike123's Groudon fainted.
The sun continues to shine.
---
However this did not come to past as his time blast traveled at me at lightning speed and shot down my Titan like a common Pokemon. Now I send out my Palkia, my last Pokemon for the ultimate showdown between 2 Palkias. Only one Palkia can rule and the question was which one. Would my Palkia emerge victorious or would it be left in the dust? The question was tearing at me and we exchanged pleasantries to pass the time, but the ruler of time would have to be revealed. It was now or never and the winner will be decided as I press draco meteor to send him to the abyss if I was faster, if I was faster.

1-1 Down to the wire

Palkia* is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Palkia*.
Palkia* lost 12% of its health.
Palkia* used Draco Meteor.
It's super effective!
Palkia lost 100% of its health.
husk's Palkia fainted.
Ike123 wins!
husk: hasty =/
Ike123: gg husk
husk: but gg anyway
husk: 462
husk: speed
Ike123: oh
husk: now that I open teambuilder
husk: heh
Ike123: mine is 492
husk: well ok
husk: gg
husk has left the room.
Twist of Fate has left the room.

Yes so it seems his Palkia was only built to outspeed the standard quaza after a DD, unlike mine which was maxed speed and due to this I was able to send his Palkia to the abyss.

Props:
-Sets are not standard ones like Lum berry Groudon, Scarf Palk and etc.
-Jirachi for taking hits and scouting out attacks from his choiced pokemon.
-Husk for being a good opponent.
-Groudon for taking care of SD Quaza who is a thorn against my team.
-Kyogre for taking Darkrai’s sleep.
-Not much hax took place and it was irrelevant in the match really.
-My Palkia for being faster than Husk’s Palkia

Slops:
-Darkrai for doing nothing except fainting.
-Latias for only getting exploded by Metagross
- Me for sacrificing Jirachi instead of Groudon since jirachi can wall Palkia’s attack and would have won me the game without having to hope that his Palkia wasn’t maxed speed.

I don't know, first time writing a warstory for me . I just copied and pasted from microsoft word

The teams are missing. The battle was pretty good, but I think that none of the commentary was too exciting. But it was a good battle and read. It's easier to read now though. Good job on winning the battle.

Nope, the teams are missing for me as well Jeb.

An interesting match, gives a pretty good insight of the high level Uber battles that go on at the Smogon ladder. Gives everyone a reason to use Max Speed Scarf Palkia and also Jeb's Jirachi.

Also, much easier to read after the change. Thanks Ike.

Yes sorry about that I will try to edit it for teams.

And Jeb, I will edit my post for teams when I have enough time, and thanks for commenting.

great warstory. the one thing i didnt like was how badly you walled husk with jirchi. husk, use fire blast on scarf palkia next time, it kicks ass, and surprrises those god damn jirachis

Yea I noticed that too. Sometimes I wonder how scary ike can get when he fights for his friends.

Yeah, this was a fun match Ike123 GG.

@ultimifier: I'm was/am really new to ubers so forgive me for not knowing to use that. To be honest I didn't know palkia learned fire blast.

Yea GG Husk and yea it can learn fire blast, which is jeb's signature move on his Palkia

It was an excellent match, and the commentary gives insight into what you're thinking at each point in the battle, which is something I enjoy seeing in warstories. I would like to see more like these because I'm still fairly new to the competitive Pokemon metagame and warstories with the logic behind the moves help me improve my game.

Aeroblacktyl, just because it wasn't timid doesn't mean it couldn't have been hasty, so Ike still didn't know if was going to be a speed tie.
