ORAS UU I'm struggling plz help

I have been trying to create an offensive UU team based on a Feraligatr-Entei core. The idea is that CB Entei will dent holes in teams for DD Feraligatr to sweep. I'm having trouble being successful with the rest of the team though, so I wanted some input. The most successful version of the team is posted here, but I'll put other Pokemon I tried using on the team below the Pokemon that fit a similar role/typing. Leave suggestions; I want Entei and Feraligatr to stay on the team (preferably with similar sets), but any of the other Pokemon can be swapped out.

entei.gif

Entei @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Stone Edge
Core mon #1, my physical wallbreaker and backup sweeper with Espeed. A pretty straightforward set, with Stone Edge for coverage as the best option against top tier threats like Salamence, Hydreigon, and MegaAero. I tried an AV set, but the tradeoff of damage to better check Florges was not working out.

feraligatr.gif

Feraligatr (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
Core mon #2, who is my main physical sweeper, but carries wallbreaking potential also. I see it working well with Entei, as it checks Rock and Grounds while Entei checks Grass mons. I chose Crunch as the final coverage move since I have a bit of trouble with Psychic types with the current version of the team.

whimsicott.gif

Whimsicott (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Encore
- Moonblast
- Giga Drain
- U-turn
My team is kinda slow with those just Entei and Feraligatr, and I needed some support alongside pure damage. Offensive Whimsicott makes up for that, and lets me check the bulky Waters. Whimsicott's Fairy typing lets me check Dragons and Fighting types too. U-turn lets me keep up momentum and scout, while Encore can force other support mons like Forretress or Blissey to either have to switch out or let me switch in and set up.
Other Options: Celebi, Mega Sceptile

cobalion.gif

Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 232 HP / 24 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Volt Switch
- Iron Head
- Close Combat
A Steel type was needed to help check Fairies, mainly Florges, since Entei couldn't safely switch into a CM set with hazards up. It's also my Stealth Rocker, and creates a VoltTurn core with Whimsicott for momentum. Cobalion is also good for checking Bugs and Dark types like Mega Beedrill and Umbreon. I decided to use a bulkier EV spread because most of my team is pretty fragile, and it'll give me a chance to set up rocks more reliably and often.
Other Steels: Mega Aggron, Metagross, Doublade, Empoleon
Other Fighting types: Conkeldurr

nidoking.gif

Nidoking @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Superpower
My team lacked special damage, particularly a special or mixed wallbreaker. Cobalion could not take Fairy type attacks that well either, being part Fighting. A Ground type helps deal with Fires, Steels, and other Poison types also. Ice Beam is for bulky Grounds, especially Donphan and Krookodile. Superpower is to throw off Blissey and other special walls.
Other Poisons: Dragalge, Nidoqueen
Other Grounds: Gligar, Swampert, Krookodile
Other Special mons: Hydreigon, Mega Ampharos, Heliolisk

aerodactyl-mega.gif

Aerodactyl (M) @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 216 Atk / 40 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Stone Edge
- Defog
- Roost
I needed a defogger so Entei would not be worn down so easily. I wanted a solid Flying and Fire check too, so Aerodactyl fit the bill. Along with a bit of bulk, Mega Aerodactyl hits pretty hard and provide a lot of speed for the team too. This current version of the team relies a lot on Aerodactyl, and since I have a lot of coverage already, I put Roost on it so I can heal up. Defog forces me to run Pressure, but I tend to automatically mega evolve Aerodactyl anyways, so i don't see much use in Unnerve, despite it being better.
Other Flying types/Defoggers: Salamence, Crobat

Entei @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Stone Edge

Feraligatr (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Ice Punch

Whimsicott (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Encore
- Moonblast
- Giga Drain
- U-turn

Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 232 HP / 24 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Volt Switch
- Iron Head
- Close Combat

Nidoking @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Superpower

Aerodactyl (M) @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 216 Atk / 40 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Stone Edge
- Defog
- Roost

Nice offense :O

  • Firstly, I see that your team is very weak to Stealth Rock, and how Aerodactyl-Mega isn't a good Defogger, I think that replacing Nidoking with Offensive Tentacruel will be perfect for your team, as you lack a good Fire-Resist and a solid Fighting Switch-In. Tentacruel do it's job very well, that is Spin-Off the hazards aside of demolish Physical Walls. Nidoking is a hard switching Pokémon, but he still loses some matchups and doesn't fix very well on your team.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Sludge Bomb
- Rapid Spin
  • How you have a Spinner, Aerodactyl doesn't need Defog, so you should use Pursuit instead of it, since your team is still very weak to both Alakazam and Chandelure. Also, you can change the EVs from 216 Atk / 40 HP / 252 Spe to 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe and your main Ability from Pressure to Unnerve, as you can stop BellyBuff in the switch.
aerodactyl-mega.gif

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Wing Attack
- Pursuit
- Roost
  • Whimsicott is actually very frail with Life Orb, as she already lacks recovery to be a Support Pokémon, so I recommend you to use Pixie Plate instead of Life Orb, of course that your most powerful STAB will do a few less damage, but Whimsicott struggles while using U-Turn and Giga Drain with a 9% Recoil.

Whimsicott @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Giga Drain
- Encore
- U-turn
  • How nothing on your team can do a safe switch in Mamoswine, Shuca Berry could be used over Leftovers on Cobalion, since Leftovers doesn't grants you anything and Shuca Berry grants you a Safe Switch in Mamoswine, Krookodile and other Ground-Types.

  • Lastly, Feraligatr such as a Dragon Dancer is completely outclassed by Dragon Dance Gyarados, so Swords Dance + Aqua Jet could be used over your actual set, since Fera can 2HKO the big majority of the metagame after a Swords Dance paired with both Whimsicott and Aerodactyl-Mega, and you already can't outspeed Sceptile-Mega after a Dragon Dance. Crunch is the preferencial coverage move, as the big majority of the Dragon-Types are faster than Feraligatr or are Bulky (Ampharos-Mega) and your team struggles to defeat Psychic-Types.

Full version of the Team:

Hey dbe00, cool team you have here. Mr. Highways already made a couple of good suggestions for the team, but I'd like to add onto the work he's done to further optimize your team's performance.

While Gyarados does often perform better than Feraligatr when utilizing Dragon Dance, I definitely wouldn't say it completely outclasses it in that role, as Feraligatr is much more powerful (by a margin of about 50%). Since your team is structured to set up for a late game Feraligatr sweep, I'd like to keep its set intact. However, the EV's can definitely be tweaked a bit. Dragon Dance Feraligatr cannot afford to run Adamant over Jolly, as without the speed boosting nature you are still outsped by Crobat (which is seeing a rise in usage due to the recent drops) and neutral speed natured base 145's (i.e. Mega Beedrill, Mega Sceptile), two benchmarks you don't want to miss out on. I suggest changing your spread to 64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spe with a Jolly nature, as this allows you to outspeed said threats at +1 and gives you a bit of extra bulk to ensure you live certain hits. The HP investment, for example, guarantees you live a LO Earthquake from Mamoswine after rocks.

Something I noticed about your team was its lack of speed control. Scarf Fighting types in particular cause your team a lot of trouble, as your two resists are quite frail and often cannot take more than one resisted hit. I agree with the above suggestion to change your Whimsicott's item to Pixie Plate, as this vastly improves its survivability. I would also go as far as to suggest replacing Giga Drain with Stun Spore to at least give you some counterplay against the rare Scarf Mienshao or Heracross, which could otherwise clean your team late game. Even with Giga Drain, your team seems to struggle with bulky waters, which leads me to my next suggestion.

I believe replacing Cobalion with bulky Toxicroak would help your team out immensely. Toxicroak provides you with a nice fighting resist that can actually soft check threats like Heracross, as well as a hard counter to most bulky waters in the tier, something your team desperately needs. The standard SD moveset with an EV spread of 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 Spe with an Adamant nature and Black Sludge would work well. The HP investment allows you to tank Close Combats from Heracross and High Jump Kicks from Mienshao, which also preventing Florges from 2HKO'ing you. The speed investment ensures you outspeed max speed Sylveon, which has been quite common after the recent drops. Max attack investment with an Adamant nature is preferred to ensure you maintain a high level of damage output despite the absence of LO.

Since I suggested you remove Cobalion, you are short a rocker. Your Hydreigon switch in isn't really there at this point considering you're running offensive Whimsicott, so I think changing Nidoking to Empoleon would be a solid change. On top of checking Hydreigon and other offensive Dragon type pokemon, Empoleon also provides a ton of role compression that your team sorely needs. I would suggest a moveset of Stealth Rock / Scald / Ice Beam / Defog with an EV spread of 252 HP / 164 SpA / 92 SpD with a Modest Nature and a Shuca Berry. The special attack investment ensures you OHKO Mamoswine and Salamence 100% of the time, with the rest of the EV's maximizing Empoleon's bulk. Shuca lets you check Mamoswine, DD Salamence, and Mega Aerodactyl, among many others, and is generally the best item for offensive Empoleon to run.

Lastly, I believe you can change up your Aerodactyl set to better support your team. Since you have Defog on Empoleon, you can switch that out for Pursuit, which is fantastic in the current meta, as it lets you trap Alakazam, Mega Beedrill, and plenty of other fast, frail pokemon. Your team is quite weak to Cobalion at this point, and it comes in for free on your current set. Since your team is so offensive, I don't think you'll be utilizing Roost as much, as it can potentially kill your momentum, so I think you can pretty safely swap that out for Earthquake. With this change, Cobalion and Empoleon lacking Shuca Berry can no longer check you, and even if they do have the item, you can potentially trigger it on the switch and KO them later on in the battle.

I think, with those changes in mind, you have yourself an extremely solid team that does a much better job of setting up a potential Feraligatr sweep in the late game, which appeared to be your goal when building. I hope you try out my suggestions! Good luck with everything.
