This is just a thread for documentation of important announcements, whether it be a system update, inclusion of a new CAP, new data changes that are significant, or other.

Update: If the keyword Hotfix is appended before a data change, it is considered to be in effect immediately, even in the case of ongoing matches. If nothing is mentioned, the change does not affect ongoing matches.

Mumbao and Jumbao are officially released in BBP! Go enjoy the fluffy sumo while we wait on CAP25 to come to us never soon(tm)

All moves with a Table BAP/EN have been changed to formulas, with an exception to Fling, who's table is here and in the Handbook

The Battle Tree facility is now officially open! Bring your Stage 3+* mons and test your mettle against randomized teams for a chance to raise your Pokemon all the way up to Stage 5*!

Metronome and Assist have had their descriptions updated to account for the addition of new Protective/Evasive Moves.

This change is effective immediately, and affects matches that started prior to this post.

The effect of Spider Web has been reverted to its base in-game effect of preventing the opponent from switching.

This change does not affect matches already in-progress, but is effective for all future matches.

Barrier and Acid Armor are now generic Defense-Boosting moves and no longer have their damage prevention.
Iron Defense no longer has its recoil effect.
Morning Sun has been nerfed to have its effect in-line with Synthesis, instead of being arbitrarily placed higher in effectiveness.
Moonlight is also nerfed to match the above. Shore Up has had its EN cost upped to match these moves, but its effect is unchanged since that was already in line.

Combo Tech from this point now allows two moves connected by the tech (such as Fairy Wind + Dazzling Gleam) to be legal combinations, even though they do not share combo types and subtypes.
Combo Tech cannot stack their effects together on a combo. This should only affect a small percentage of cases, but prevents absolutely absurd outliers or just weird wording manipulation.

These changes do not affect in-progress matches.

Revising the RC payment policy as follows:

If the battle was NOT self-reffed, award THE REF additional RC according to the Bonus RC Formula:
  • Bonus RC Formula: (Number of Rounds)-(3*(total mons on smallest team))
This was my intention from the start, but I forgot to be specific. As written, the bonus would go to the battlers as well, which is bad because it could encourage the battlers to stall to farm Counters. Hot-fixing immediately, effective for all battles that have not had their claims approved.

Heat Crash has had its BAP adjusted to match the nerf given to Heavy Slam in the Gen 8 transition

Previous BAP: 4 + (User WC - Target WC)*2, Max 20
Current BAP: 6 + (User WC - Target WC)

This does not affect matches/RPs/etc started before this post.

Economy Update

- Halve the cost of all purchaseable items.
- Change the JC payout formula(s)
Code:
Normal: [JC paid by battlers] + [# of mons on the smallest team]*2 - 2
Self-Reffed: [JC paid by battlers] + [# of mons on the smallest team] - 2, minimum of 1
Double Self-Reffed: 0
- TC can be converted to RC at a ratio of 4:1

These changes are effective immediately.

Combo changes:
  • Fake Out has Combo Type: None, Combo Class: n/a; Combo Subclass: n/a.
  • Sucker Punch has Combo Classes: Body, Cunning; Combo Subclass: Arm.
  • Land's Wrath has Combo Classes: Earth, Light; Combo Subclasses: Deluge, Meteorological.
Mechanical changes:
  • No Retreat now inflicts a Trapping effect upon the user instead of completely preventing switching.
  • Leek now guarantees crits and applies to Sirfetch'd.
  • Lucky Punch now guarantees crits.
Trivial changes:
  • Dawn Wings name change to N-Lunarizer.
  • Dusk Mane name change to N-Solarizer.
  • Land's Wrath flavor description changed to better match in-game.
This does not affect matches/RPs/etc started before this post.

  • Deep Sea Scale and Deep Sea Tooth have been re-introduced to BBP. They only apply to Clamperl.
  • Gorilla Tactics and all the Choice Items nullify Consecutive EN cost penalties.
This does not affect matches/RPs/etc started before this post.

Struggle changes/clarifications
  • Struggle is now a Command, not a Move.
  • As such, Struggle can now directly be ordered, and directly be the result of a substitution if explicitly named.
Data will be updated later, am busy :p

Because I didn't know I had to explicitly put this shit on paper

Once an opponent has ordered, you cannot edit your actions/substitutions at all.

-.-

This is not a change to shit, this has always been in effect, and I'm just writing it down so no one can say "hurr durr but it wasn't written down"

Smokomodo, Snaelstrom, and Caribolt have had their Event Moves added to the Data Audit (listed as Tutor Moves). In addition, added Hyper Beam to Caribolt's TM Moves (it was accidentally omitted in a bookkeeping error).

The Handbook now states that Stage 4* and Stage 5* Pokemon cannot evolve.
The Battle Tree thread now states that challenging Pokemon cannot evolve while advancing their Stage.
A new rule in the Battle Tree allows players to decline to advance the Stage of one of their eligible challenging Pokemon in return for 4 RC.

Currently working on unmerging DA spreadsheet cells so I can add a "bypasses Substitute" column.

Mechanical Changes:
Darkest Lariat now has 9 BAP to match in-game.
Steam Engine now triggers if Flash Fire blocks a Fire-Type move.
Hunger Switch applies at the end of each Round instead of each Action.

This does not affect matches/RPs/etc started before this post.

Battle Tree changes:
Tree refs can now only ref 1 Tree challenge at a time.

If a ref is currently involved in more than one Tree challenge, they may continue reffing. However, no ref who is currently reffing a Tree challenge may take on another one until they are finished.

Some rule clarifications/updates:

Substitutions
- Chance clauses are checked by default at the start of the Pokemon's turn. While this was already decided once a while ago in a previous vote, the Handbook had two contradicting lines in it, one that supports the side of the vote that won, and one for the side that lost. This has been fixed as it was likely just an error in transcription and we could not find any conversation or vote from a time more recent than that vote to change the rule.

Currency
1. If you don't have the JC in your account at present, you cannot sign up for a battle/roleplay/etc. This does not factor in "pending" expenditures from matches in progress and the like.
2. You cannot claim rewards from any match(es) that would put you in the negatives.
3. You cannot sign up for any RP that you have currently have an unclaimed completed run for.

Mechanical Changes:
Early Bird: +15 hp per action during Rest instead of 18.

Minor/Inconsequential Changes:
Pursuit and Trick Room changed to no longer mention Dodge.
No Guard changed to no longer mention Dodge.
Insomnia/Vital Spirit and Huge Power/Pure Power changed to no longer mention BRT.

This does not affect matches/RPs/etc started before this post.

In addition to these raw BAP/EN changes:

- Block now does 5 fixed damage instead of 2*(User WC)
- Bounce, Fly, and Sky Drop now cause 10 fixed damage as recoil for being grounded mid move instead of 2*(User WC) + 4
- Jump Kick and Hi Jump Kick now do BAP+2 recoil for missing, instead of BAP+WC

Also, Pikanium Z and Snorlium Z now provide +3 BAP to their respective Z-Moves instead of the +WC effect.

As per usual, ongoing matches are unaffected by these changes. The Data Audit will be updated with this information later, and I'll edit this when that has been done.

Nightmare and Dream Eater are having their combo interactions updated because the current combo interactions are archaic and lead to rulings issues.

Nightmare: If combined with Hypnosis or Dark Void, the combo will succeed if the target is awake, and will apply one (1) additional Sleep counter.

Dream Eater: If combined with Hypnosis, the combo will succeed if the target is awake. If combined with Nightmare, the damage done will not trigger any sleep reduction.

This does not affect matches/RPs/etc started before this post.

Weight-based move change:
Body Slam now has 9 BAP and 7 EN cost. (We missed that one).

Move clarifications:
Endeavor and Super Fang now indicate that they deal Fixed Damage.
Clear Smog (Fog), Mist (Fog), Smog (Fog), and Smokescreen (Fog) now indicate that they target the entire battle.
