Caught a Litwick, Ferroseed, Joltik and Sigilyph since I last posted. I'm saving the entire review of them until I beat the League, but I have to say that Litwick wasn't as hard to train as I expected. Practically everything in Celestial Tower, where you catch it, is Ghost or Psychic type, which it defeats easily with Hex. It took about 20 Super Potions and 3 Revives to keep it alive the entire way, but it was a heck of a lot stronger by the time I left the tower. All it took after that was ten or so Audinos to get it to Lv. 41 and evolution.

Tirtouga is your main weakness. Having him in the team results in you having 3 Pokemon weak to both Fighting and Ground. Replace him with Oshawott (or any other water Pokemon really) and your team will be fine for weaknesses.

... Bug is weak to Fighting now? What.

In other news, I'm digging the Lillipup line. Currently at Nimbasa, and even though I stupidly forgot to give her Take Down, Pip the Herdier has decimated everything in her path. What a shame I'm ditching her soon in favour of Deerling...

Also, Burgh was a pain in the ass, because he outsped my Woobat, and spammed Struggle Bug with Leavanny :(

I don't think it actually really matters if you prepare a team or not. With a bit of grinding and the right Pokémon for the right gym, you outpower everything anyways.

On the point of natures, I usually just catch Pokémon of the same kind until I get at least a neutral nature on the most important stat. It sucks to have like a Calm Dragonite, knowing that you could also have like an Adamant one.

i have started my white playthrough, i have been using scraggy and i really think it should be in a higher tier...
i mean with hi jump kick at level 31 it kills staff so easily...

adorable, quick, and an utter killing machine when you get thunder. requires a little training when you get him but the payoff is immense. Top
Testifying he's not so bad when you pick him up. You get him in the cave... oh, funny, you were just handed a Lucky Egg! He's not amazing in the cave since Team Plasma have a lot of Ground-types, but you can get him a bit of EXP, and then he's just plain gg in Celestial Tower, giving him several vital levels, especially if you give him the newly-attained Charge Beam TM (waiting for Thunder, which of course is when he starts being fantastic), since it's mostly Psychics and other Pokémon like Sigilyph (weak to Electric attacks) and Deerling (weak to Signal Beam). So you don't really have to baby him for that long. (Incidentally, if you don't want to give him the Lucky Egg, you do pick up the Magnet in the cave, which is fun! Basically, the game wants you to use him, handing you Charge Beam, Magnet, the Lucky Egg, and Signal Beam via level ups when you catch him.) Doesn't take long to evolve him with the Egg.

Edited my team a bit(posted ~4 pages ago)

Emboar
Conkeldurr
Liligant
Swanna
Escavalier
Klinklang

I know about the Flying and Fire weaknesses. Swanna looks very good on paper, actually. Being able to learn both Fly and Surf is never a bad thing. One question: Is it worth to breed pokes to get egg moves?

Well, my 'Run through the game with stuff that no-one else ever uses' run is going well.

I've just caught 4 members of my final team, and only need one more.

So, how are these guys doing?

568.png

Wound up getting one with Sticky Hold, but, frankly, I couldn't care that much. Lax Nature, which is good for what I have in mind. Currently abuseing Evo Stone, Respectable Defenses, and Acid Bomb + Sludge. Not too shabby.

557.png

Not actually began to train it yet, but, I used one in a Japanese run until the 6th Gym, where it had just evolved. This little guy is useful. Also, STEALTH ROCK murders the 4th Gym, which is otherwise a pain, due to those Emonga [The Rock-types die to them, and you have no Ice-type attacks, they're immune to Ground, and are part Flying for Grass-types]

502.png

Average. IMO, it's the worst Water starter ever...and middle for the region. That said, all the starters are rather bad in 5th Gen. I'm replaceing him with Basculin after I get Surf, because BASCULIN GETS NO LOVE.

556.png

For this stage in the game... Inferior Cacturne >> Snivy. I happened to get a Bold one, with Water Absorb. 65 Sp.Attck at Lv 26, and Giga Drain. Synthsis too. 46 Attack with Needle Arm andPin Missile isn't bad either. [Bearing in mind -Attack Nature]

520.png

Haven't used it since the 3rd Gym, as it ended up overleveled, and I rushed ahead to catch my intended team. However, I purchased TM Return. Return + Scope Lens + Super Luck + Decent Attack stat. Not as much of a derp as most people give it credit for.

Couldn't trade an Ant over, so I'm using this guy. Can't touch Audino due to Refresh and Normal Typing, so he's been EXP.Shared for now. He's proven his worth when I came across some Emonga though. Haze > Double Team.

I'll be sure to provide updates on how this Low-Teir run goes as it proceeds. Who knows, something might need to be bumped up a teir or two.

Only if you're willing to invest the time. You can go through the game as efficiently (see: top tiers) or as inefficiently (see: lower tiers) as you like.

Well, Emboar and Lilligant are both ealry game, and destroy everything. I've not used Conkeldurr, but I hear it's good if you can trade evo it, albeit, a litter redundant with Emboar.

You can get to the 5th gym easily with that team, if you pick up a Rock/Bug thing, level it to SR, and let the 4th gym's Emonga suicide themselves. Lilligant destroys Gym 5 if you evolve it between Lv 26 and 28. [Get Giga Drain, dont miss Butterfly Dance]

From there, the combination of Emboar/Swanna/Kilink destroys the game, Klink only having trouble with Renbu out of the whole of the remaining storyline [It really should be teired equal to Electraspider, if not higher]

May I put up a small case for Cobalion? It doesn't come THAT late (Past Gym 6, makes a great final team member) and since it's a legend, it has great stats, particulary for in game. The cave you get him is great to go to anyway for the Dusk Stone and thanks to reusable TM's having to use Flash and Strength isn't a big bother. Furthermore its a small cave anyway.
What's more important is that Cobalion comes at a respectable level and single-handidly WRECKS the final two gyms, and gives you a very nice weapon against the likes of Hydreigon.
Really, if you're looking for a final team member, Cobalion can fill that slot perfectly.

Having defeated the Seventh badge, 5 pokemon over level 40; I have decided to replace SImisear with a Litwick. Going to be some serious grinding...

@Lucindrill where did you fight audinos?

On Route 7, I just went on the raised platforms and ran back and forth until one appeared, which was usually right next to the platform so I could just jump off right into it. Occasionally an Emolga appeared, but it was mostly Audinos.

And how has Litwick served you now it's been trained up?

TBH Colonel M hasn't updated the tierlist in like, eternity.

Anyway even if you are not planning to use Cobalion for endgame, he demolishes the 7th gym all by himself, giving you ample opportunities to EXP. Share your party if it's badly underlevelled. Terrakion is bullshit(wtf Victory Road?) and Virizion is arguably ok if you don't have a good grass type.

Coba > Viri >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Terra. Cobalion, like I said, just happens to have the 2 STABs to roflstomp Icirrus Gym and Brycen. He definitely needs to be higher. Virizion can stay, Terrakion goes down.

The E4 are so easy. The Fossilbird with U-Turn/Crunch/Acrobat/FillertillEarthquake can spam Ohkos all day on them, it just get problems with some of the darks and cofragigus who survives the crunch. Scraftys pre-evo with the evolutionstone is kinda broken in-game.

Daikenki - revenge is surprisingly good
Scrafty - maybe one of the best pokemons in-game ever, a lax´ed one with payback and hi-jump-kick...
chandelure (raped the whole icegym alone) Will-o-wisp + evil eye isnt that bad, sometimes ways better than shadow ball
Fossilbird - deal ohko´s at pretty everything, and some type-jewels for the extra-lol. lucky that i got an adamant one in the museum....
Amoonguss (hadnt evolved till it learned spore at level 50 (grinding in mt helix) and then ready, as long as it isnt agains ice/psyhco/flying/fire-stabs, it walled pretty everything pretty good and no sleep-clause is just epic)
Deino (holding exp-share during the top 4 and some psycho-ohkos lol)

Till the E4 i didnt noticed that Haxorus is ways earlier available.
Cockodile is in in-game terrible.
Ghetsis Hydreigon and the emolga-emolga-spam-gym was pretty badass to beat through. amoonguss was dropped against n in favor of zekrom, whose initial moves really sucks.

The early Shadow Ball TM (well early, not far after Litwick evolved for me) helped me in making it a Chandelure.
And. It. Wrecks.
Seriously, its not THAT far underleveled when you get it, it can stomp most of the Ice gym by its self (even as Litwick it can handle the Cubchoos, Mirrors and derpcreams) and its just...good. That speed is annoying though.

Actually I find Litwick to be rather underwhelming. It's so slow and weak, and it takes ~20 damn levels to evolve into a Lampent. And even when it's a Lampent, its stats are still below average, not to mention it's as frail as heck... However, mine did help a lot when I evolved it into a Chandelure!

Get Litwick at LV28
XP Share him up to late '30's
Let him take the final levels in the Ice gym and voila, Lampent
Get Shadow Ball TM and Dusk Stone and you have a wrecking ball.
He needs only 13 levels.

I EXP shared him on route 17 and 18 as well. Level 41 --> Lampent. Go to Fukyose cave. Get Dusk Stone, and Voilà, you just got a Chandelure.

A Pokemon that needs 13 levels to do anything useful is not a good ingame Pokemon. Its a terrible ingame Pokemon in fact.
