Indeedee ♂

Base Stats
60 /65/55/105/95/95

Abilities:
Inner Focus: Immunity to being Flinched and to Intimidate
Synchronize: If that Pokemon gets burned/paralysed/poisoned, the other Pokeon also gets that status.
Psychic Surge: Summons the Psychic Terrain on switch-in.

Notable Moves
Offensive Stab:
Psychic (90), Psy Shock (80), Stored Power (20+)
Hyper Voice (90), Tera Blast (80), Fake Out (40p)
Coverage:
Shadow Ball (80), Energy Ball (80), Dazzling Gleam (80-Fairy)
Status:
Trick, Trick Room, Calm Mind, Encore, Healing Wish,
Substitute, Psychic Terrain, Psych Up, Imprison

Pros:
-Is currently with its female counterpart the only non-legendary with access to Psychic Surge, making it as essential for Psychic Terrain strategies as Pelipper is for Rain teams.
-Choice Scarf sets can work pretty well due to surprise factor as Indeedee is (currently) not a huge threat.
-Has a rare type combination with only two weaknesses ...

Cons:
- ... which are sadly pretty common in the metagame with moves like Knock Off and U-Turn.
- Extremly frail especially on the physical side, can't really switch into anything besides ghost and psychic attacks
- Gets outclassed offensively by Espeon with similar power and way better speed.
- Gets outclassed by Farigiraf as a bulky Psychic-Normal Trick Room setter AND it has its own Priority Move protection.
- Is hard to slot with a team that relies on its own Priority Moves like Extreme Speed, Fake Out or Prankster users.
- No Expanding Force for Indeedee in Gen 9 :(

Terastallization:

Coverage & Defensive - Fairy/Fighting/Ghost
In order to turn its weaknesses (Dark & Bug) into resistances, it's possible to use Fairy or Fighting in a pinch.
Fighting: Hit Bisharp and Tyranitar hard with Tera Blast, while OHKOing physical Orthsworm sets.
Fairy: Provides a better overall offensive spread and boosts your Dazzling Gleam.
Ghost: Hits other psychic types and can be used to dodge an incoming Boomburst or Close Combat, but you're still weak to dark.

Sweep - Psychic
Usually you're not using Indeedee to sweep the enemy team as you'd rather use someone with a higher attack and speed stat,
but Choice Scarf sweeps are possible once the opposing dark, psychic and steel types have been taken care of.

Special Matchups
lokix.png

Lokix

Indeedee slightly outspeeds the notorious bug and can switch in on a predicted First Impression or Sucker Punch,
but still has to fear Leech Life, U-Turn and Throat Chop.
If Lokix received any hazard damage or you're willing to use Tera Fairy, you'll be able to threaten to KO it before it can do anything.
252 SpA Indeedee Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Lokix: 242-286 (85.5 - 101%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO (without Tera)

tyranitar.png

Tyranitar

The king who usually resides in each OU tier has decided to mess with the Gen 9 UU group, and Indeedee does not like that guy.
Sand Stream gives Tyranitar a huge Special Bulk that lets it usually survive one Tera Fighting blast.
252 SpA Tera Fighting Indeedee Tera Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 304-360 (89.1 - 105.5%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

gengar.png

Gengar

One of the rare cases where being part Normal Type becomes one of Indeedee's strengths.
A healthy Scarf Indeedee can switch in freely on a predicted Shadow Ball or Nasty Plot and force Gengar out with Psychic,
but not without taking some damage if Gengar is holding a Scarf, too.
Be wary of Gengar switching to Tera Dark.

Possible Team Mates:

Psychics - Those who benefit greatly from Indeedee's Strengths

armarouge.png

Armarouge:
It's currently the only Pokemon with access to Expanding Force which gets absurdly strong. Sadly Armarouge is in a weird Speed Tier where its often outspeed and doesn't really benefit from Trick Room either, but it can work if you predict a physical attack coming in that triggers "Weak Armor".

gallade.png
gardevoir.png

Gallade/Gardevoir:
They are neutral to Indeedee's weaknesses and can boost strong physical/special attacks with choice/lifeorb sets, but like Armarouge are neither really fast nor slow enough for Trick Room.

espeon.png

Espeon
Currently carries the strongest psychic with 130 Special Attack and stab.
Is essentially a stronger version of Indeedee that appreciates boosted psychic attacks and the immunity to sucker punch.
Synergizes well with lead Indeedee as a T1 switch in due to Magic Guard allowing it to reflect Spikes/Rocks.
Downside: Gets walled hard pretty well by Slowking, Tinkaton and other steel types even with access to Shadow Ball.
252 SpA Espeon Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tinkaton in Psychic Terrain: 91-108 (29.2 - 34.7%)

polteageist.png

Polteageist
Although not a stab psychic mon, it's absurd Special Attack of 134 combined with Shell Smash and access to Stored Power
turns Polteageist into a monster that's compareable to Espathra.
+4 252 SpA Polteageist Stored Power (260 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Blissey in Psychic Terrain: 657-773 (92 - 108.2%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

hawlucha.gif
Hawlucha
It can use Psychic Seed to activate it's Unburden ability once, making it outrun everything except a Barraskewda in rain.
Be wary that as long as it's a flying type, it won't benefit from the protection against priority moves.

I was already writing those before beta started, so I decided to keep that part here.
Hatterne (and to some extend Bronzong, Slowbro, Slowking)
These are a strong match, as Indeedee provides is with extra damage potential, Trick Room and immunity to priority attacks for a few turns.
Bronzong needs to not run Levitate as it otherwise does not touch the ground and won't benefit from the terrain.
Espathra:
Allows it to be used as an immediate threat with Lumina Crash or protects it against Prankster users while setting up with Calm Mind.
Others psychic mons to consider: Rabsca, Bruxish

Defensive Partners

tinkaton.png
sylveon.png

Tinkaton, Sylveon
Resist both Dark and Bug type moves and can utilize a good special defense set.
tauros-paldeawater.png
orthworm.png

Tauros-Palean (Any), Orthsworm
Intimidate users and overall bulky physicals help with pivoting into your psychics.
Orthsworm's shed tail can wreck havoc if used at the right time, but this is for almost all teams the case.
Tauros-Water is prefered if you need something against rain teams (especially Floatsel), while Tauros-Fire stops Lextremo's bug stab.

hariyama.png

Hariyama
Althought Hariyama can't use Fake Out while the enemy is touching the Psychic Field, it's still a great pivot and it loves having Trick Room set up.
Alternatives are Lucario, Slither Wing, Heracross.

Possible Sets

Choice Scarf Sweep
Indeedee @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
Tera Type: Fighting / Psychic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick
- Dazzling Gleam
- Tera Blast / Ghost Ball / Psy Shock
- Psychic / Psy Shock

The standart offensive set. It can use Trick to switch its Scarf onto a defensive mon or alternatively revenge-kill anything with a strong psychic stab or its coverage moves to hit Dark, Steel and other Psychics.

Field & Trick Room Support
Indeedee (M) @ Focus Sash / Terrain Extender
Ability: Psychic Surge / Synchronize
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Healing Wish
- Encore
- Psychic / Hyper Voice / Tera Blast

Focus Sash is prefered if you plan to use Indeedee as a lead and don't want to risk losing it before it's able to set up Trick Room. Alternatively use the Terrain Extender if you priotize additional Terrain turns.
Healing Wish acts as a pseudo teleport after using Trick Room or can be later used to heal one of your bulky cores.

Indeedee is arguably much scarier than many players realize. It's mere presence can make some of its team members into complete warlords. The best example of this is Poltergeist, in Psychic Terrain it is incredibly difficult to stop. It also has access to healing wish to further support the team. Offensively it's no slouch either and can hit quite hard with boosted attacks. It is very susceptible to physical moves and has only decent speed though. Indeedee is still a very underprepared threat.
