With the release of Heartgold and Soulsilver coming very soon, I thought I would give creating a competitive team a try again. I know the following team needs a lot of work so please help. I'm currently testing the team out on Shotty Battle before the games are release and I try to create this team.

First Look of Team:

METAGROSS| SKARMORY | BRELOOM | ROTOM-H | INFERNAPE | GYARADOS

Metagross @ Occa Berry
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Atk / 12 Def / 8 Spd
Adamant (+Atk -SpA)
Trait: Clear Body
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch
- Explosion

My Lead, start off with Stealth Rock and proceed to damage with Earthquake and Bullet Punch if possible.
Otherwise suicide and go straight for the kill using Explosion.

Go into Skarmory and proceed to lay Spikes and hazing or switch to Breloom.

Skarmory @ Shed Shell

EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 Spd
Impish (+Def -
SpA)
Trait: Keen Eye
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind

After Metagross has set up Stealth Rock and taken out the opponent's lead.
Skarmory comes out to set up 3 spikes and proceed to Whirlwind through my opponent's team.
If they switch to a spinner or am forced to switch out to Dusknoir.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
EVs: 48 HP /252 Atk / 208 Spd
Impish (+Def -SpA)
Trait: Poison Heal
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Focus Punch
- Spore

Breloom's job is simple, come in Leech Seed and Substitute.
Than proceed to Focus Punch the opponent or hope fore switch for Stealth Rock and Spike Damage.
Spore is to force a switch and give time to set up Substitute and hit targets that can be hit by Focus Punch.
Repeat with Leach Seed and Substitute.

Rotom-H @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Sp
d
Bold (+Def -Atk)
Trait: Levitate
- Discharge
- Shadow Ball
- Overheat
- Reflect

Rotom-H's job is to prevent my opponent from removing my Stealth Rock and Spikes.
His second job is to switch in to take hits with the resists he has.
At the same time do some damage and slow down my opponent with discharge.
Along with that set up Reflect to reduce damage for the Pokemon I switch to.

Infernape @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 64 SpA / 192 Spd
Naive (+Spd -SpDef)
Trait: Blaze
- Close Combat
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Stone Edge

Infernape comes into the game when it has to do inflict some damages.

Stone Edge to cover fliers and Salemence. Poor thing does last long if sent in early or into Stealth Rock though.

Gyarados @ Leftover
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant (+Atk -SpA)
Trait: Intimidate
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Gyarados comes in very late into the game when opposing team has been weaken.
Goal is to set up Dragon Dance and proceed to S
weep the remaining Pokemon.
I chose Leftover over Life Orb so he can last longer.

Sceptile @ Leftover
EVs: 216 HP / 40 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly (+Spd -SpA)
Trait: Overgrow
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Leaf Blade
- X-Scissor

Sceptile's job is to annoy my opponent and have them switch if Skarmory was take out early.
Leech Seed and Substitute in hopes they switch out or do damage.

Sceptile was made to be a special sweeper, maybe focusing on its special attack is a better idea.

Try this guy.

Sceptile @ Leftover
EVs: 216 HP / 40 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid (+Spd -Att)
Trait: Overgrow
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Leaf Storm
- Focus Blast/Hidden Power Ice/X-Scissor

Also, is it me, or is it that I see a weakness to tyranitar?

Swapped Sceptile for a Breloom, found it to be more effective at forcing switch and take more hits. I also switched a few EV points around to increase the speed on some Pokemon.

How abou rotom-H over dusknoir? It can usually survive longer and can throw around nasty paralysis. (See smogon rotom-H discharge set)
Sorry I cant do calculations (im hopeless with that ;P), but I hope I helped.

Good luck with the team!

Kind of knit-picky... but I think the Rotom moveset should at least be changed to Tbolt and WoW... but I think that a non SpA nature no Evs is not worth having three attacking moves on.

having w-o-w AND reflect might be overkill, but at least your not screwed by bliss immediately. Heatran will still stop it cold though. If you use this I recommend using Bliss. skarm Bliss would be even deadlier with a WoW'd sweep and temprary reflect up.
