Welcome to Smogon! Since you enjoy collecting Pokemon, I'd say the Wi-Fi forum would be a great place for you to start. You can find many friendly users offering Pokemon you might need for trade. Chesty and Fluke are great people to talk to if you need any guidance with the Wi-Fi forum. As for team-building, what tier are you trying to build a team for? One of the biggest helps when building your first few teams are the Viability Rankings, which tell you what the most viable Pokemon in the tier are; you can find the Viability Ranking threads for OU here and for UU here, but if you need another rankings for another tier, check out the Competitive Discussion forum to find them. In addition, check out this Teambuilding Guide for help with structuring your team. I would recommend asking this question in the Simple Questions Simple Answers thread, but I think a few good team options for the set you have are Excadrill, Ferrothorn, and/or Latios.

Recently I got an awesome Shuckle figure along with a super cute Pikachu shirt, but too bad the shirt is a little too small.. Normally I wear M, and I bought an L just in case. And it's still too small, argh! You're aiming to get in the top 10 of every tier? Holy moly, good luck with that. I've been playing competitively for ages and I still can't climb that high. What are you favorite tiers? Mine are NU, RU and UU, and a while ago I also got into Ubers and AG. At the moment I'm playing a lot of Random Battle on PS, just because it allows me to do a quick battle or two.

Hello everyone, I'm Interfectrix!
My favorite pokemon is quagsire and scrafty. I started playing pokemon in gen 3 and have been a long time avid fan. I usually breed, hatch competitive shinies and can even rng abuse emerald on an emulator ,but never gotten into competitive battle. If there was someone willing to teach me, I would love to learn :)

Hello all, I'm new to the forums.
- Your favorite Pokemon: Dunsparce (Bet you couldn't tell)
- Are you on PS?: Yes, I am. I've been on PS for about a month and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time talking with others. I mainly chill in the "Tournaments" chat so I can get better at the game.
- What you plan to do here: I really do just plan on having some fun with some of the other members and fans of Pokemon. Very few of my other friends in real life aspire Pokemon the way I do, so it's hard to get a nice VGC battle with them or such. I generally enjoy helping people to my fullest, so I'll try doing that frequently (Of course, RMT won't happen till I'm greater at competitive battling). I've heard really fantastic things about this community and I'm hoping to see that for myself (no pressure, again).
- Things you might need help with: This is an easy one. Fitting in and competitive battling. Generally, on forums, I tend to be the silent awkward one, which isn't usually like me, because I'm very extroverted. I find it hard, with the thousands of registered users on this forums that I'd be able to be a regular here. Regardless, I'm going to try and make that experience a little bit different :). Competitive Battling. I'm decent, like I understand how to breed, the type chart, different speed tiers, ect. I'm not the best at building a good team and the actual battling aspect itself. Again, I'd like to say that I'd need help with hat :3.
- A little background info about you in real life, if you're ok with sharing that: Ohh, fun. My name is TJ and I'm 14. I've been a fan of Pokemon since Emerald was released. I got into competitive battling at around ORAS though, so I'm very fresh into it. I have a vocal disaffect that makes me vocal chords develop slowly then others, so despite I'm 14, I should like a 11 year old. I generally don't like skypeing with others, and I've hesitated about creating a YouTube because of this. Although, I've been supported, yet, the Internet tends to be less tolerant because it's not human face to human face conversation, and yourself can't be hurt, which really sucks. Though, I do enjoy just text chat or PM, along with actual thread posting.
- Favourite Pokemon games: Black 2. This generation it the generation that included pretty much all my favorite Pokemon, including Snivy, Unfezant, Stoutland, Leavanny, Keldeo, ect. Anyways, Enough said, Thank You
What up SkeleyTheDunsparce, welcome. Is Dunsparce really your favorite Pokemon? Like, really? I always hoped it would get an awesome evolution, just like Magikarp. A man can dream, I guess.. When I was younger I also had a similar vocal disaffect. Fortunately for me it completely changed at the age of 15, and now my voice sounds quite normal in my opinion. So don't worry, I know what you're talking about. I know the internet can be cruel, but it is really only because of the anonymity. I'm pretty sure people in real life react differently.
Anyway I see you're looking for help regarding competitive battling. I have been into competitive play for ages, so I think I can pretty much help you with any of your questions. Most importantly, don't be afraid to make a thread in the Rate My Team section. Even if the team you put together really sucks, everything that matters is your argumentation and if you actually played with it. Be as descriptive as possible. The best rates can only come after playing with the team. However, the raters are obviously not willing to play thirty battles with your team to figure out what is wrong with it and how it works. That's why they want you to tell them about your team. Try it out for yourself, and if you live up to Smogon's rules you'll figure that the feedback you get will be really helpful.

Aww. I have a couple nice pokémon plushies and shirts. Pikachu, Drilbur, Cyndaquil, Chespin and Eevee. I love playing Little Cup the most (currently top 100, aww yiss) and PU. I change it up every once in a while so it does not get stale though. Nice to meet you too! :)

i suppose my favorite pokemon is Flygon, tho i currently dont even own one :D. I have been playing pokemon since gen 3 and have been enjoying it ever since. I have recently moved to another city to study and i thought it would be the best time to catch up on the break i was taking since the end of gen 4. I am trying to start competitive play a nd preferably do so with my own bred pokemon but as that takes a lot of time i am always interested in obtaining pokemon for breeding from other trainers to skip a few steps along the way. As it seemed like most of the pokemon on the GTS and those you can get from wondertrades were obtained from some sort of exploit or outright hack i was looking for a place to get genuinely bred pokemon from and thought smogon would be the best place to do so. I hope i can find a few nice people to trade and fight with and maybe learn a few strategies for competitive play.

What's up, TGOoORAS, welcome to the Smogon community ! Flygon is a pretty cool Pokemon that I've always wanted to use both in-game and competitively, but never got the chance to. The Wi-Fi sub-forum is the place to go for trading, as you will find tons of trade shops & helpful threads to get you started there. As for competitive play, heading over to the Competitive Discussion sub-forum will definitely give you a good start concerning competitive Pokemo and even more ! Like Dr Ciel already said, the Wi-Fi section is definitely the go-to place when you're looking for genuinely bred Pokemon. Smogon doesn't allow hacks, so you don't have to worry there. There's also a nice giveaway section where cool and useful Pokemon are being given away, so make sure to check that out too!

My favorite Pokemon are Ninetales and Dragonite, although Suicune and Lucario were both phases. Pokemon has been part of my life since I was 3, although my dad may have shown me Pokemon Blue before then. I didn't actually own a game until I got Heart Gold at age 11, in which I chose Cyndaquil and probably screwed everything up. I also have White and White 2, which I chose Tepig for, Pearl, which I chose Chimchar for, and got another copy of HG a few years back after I lost my first one. I chose Cyndaquil for that. :|
I'm REALLY sick of Fire starters. Give me a Chikorita or a Bulbasaur any day XD
What is PS? I feel like I need to know what it is. I can't do it if it's voice chat, though.
I'm more of a casual player, currently playing the older generations on emulators. Generation 3 is probably my least favorite, but I can't really think of my favorite one this late at night. I resent grinding (Probably due to Heart Gold), and like the actual game part more than this competitive stuff. I feel more satisfaction in finally evolving my Dragonair, or getting that Fire Stone in Silver, than finally beating someone with a team I crafted solely for that purpose. I don't know, there's just this sort-of empty feeling when you get so far that that's all you care about. That said, I get the strategy of these fights and can set up pretty good teams.
I do not have a 3DS of my own, and I doubt that my sister is going to let me touch her games, so I can't get involved in the gen 6 metagame. But hey, it would be nice to get to know you guys and have a nice chat about Pokemon.

I have also been a PokeTuber in the past (about 4-5 years ago) and I really enjoyed doing it. One day I might return, who knows. Are there any particular reasons you joined Smogon? Like, do you use it as a competitive resource? Let me know, and perhaps I know some places that could be very interesting to you and your YouTube channel :)
What's up Redmayo, welcome to the site. Dragonite had been among my favorite Pokemon too, but when I became older I saw it was actually this friendly Dragon-type Pokemon, which I didn't like at all. Ever since then I lost my interest in Dragonite's appearance. I'd rather see something like Gyarados, even though it's not a Dragon-type Pokemon. You have been into Pokemon since you were 3 years old?! Wow, that's quite early. I remember getting Pokemon Yellow and a green Game Boy Color for my birthday like it's was yesterday. I was about 5 years old and I didn't understand any English, so it was kind of hard for me. I still remember that I never got to the Cycling Road because I didn't have a bicycle, even after I completed the Pokemon League. Some friend of me told me I had to complete the Pokemon League 2500+ times in order to get a bike, and that the Cycling Road would open doors to a whole new world. I actually believed it, but I gave up after about 100 times of completing the League. Only years later did I find out that the bike was actually free. But yeah, Pokemon really taught me the basics when it comes down to the English language.
Anyhow, PS is short for for Pokémon Showdown. It is a Pokémon battle simulator which allows you to play Pokémon battles online. You can play with randomly generated teams, or build your own. And everything is fully animated. Not as nicely animated as the actual Generation VI games, but it's still nice. It's really fun in my opinion since you have the option to chat with your opponent, and because you can quickly jump in and out of battles, something that's not really possible on Wi-Fi. Maybe we can do a battle or two while we have a nice chat about Pokémon? Would be cool. If you have any questions for now, just shoot me a PM and I'll try to help you.
