Right, so. This team was built mostly around bluffing webs with Galvantula, and setting up paras as much as I can. Since I needed to use Glalie, I said 'fuck it' and went without rockss and decided to set up as many spikes as possible. Yanmega itself was pretty much giving the finger to things that might resist it and blasting through instead. Entei was because I have issues with bulky waters, and Lucario is a thing to handle business on things not named Blissey. Ursaring... well, there's not much to say for the village destroyer. It gets Quick Feet, then it breaks things.

Mega Glalie is pretty cool, sporting Refrigerate with moves like nuking Explosion and Double-Edge. I used Freeze-Dry because I didn't want bulky waters to just come in on Glalie, you know. Super Fang is used to cripple stuff like Maggron. Choice Specs Yanmega is also really cool as it has like 0 switchins thanks to Tinted Lens and is a really good wallbreaker in general. I added offensive Tentacruel to add hazard removal as the core was weak to Rocks and also provide a good offensive presence. Acid Spray is chosen over Sludge Bomb or TSpikes because it helps break down walls and Calm Mind sweepers. Tentacruel also checks Fire types and Fighting types, which helps a lot. Whimsicott was chosen to be a good Dark and Fighting and Dragon check while also providing useful U-Turn support and hitting decently hard. I needed a sweeper or cleaner at that point, and I was really weak to Electrics, so Choice Scarf Moxie Krookodile was a perfect choice, checking Electrics and Psychics while also being a good late-game cleaner. Shuca Berry Metagross is chosen to be a good Fairy check while also beating Mamoswine and setting up Rocks (Also another Fighting answer) While this team is still weak to some things, like Entei, it is overall a cool bulky offense team and I hope it wins!

Basically built around some heat sets with LO Tinted Lens Yanmega w/ Hypnosis to break down stuff and 4 STAB Mega Glalie being the wincon most games. Magneton was added to help remove Steel-types and have a Rock resist. Florges + Seismitoad core was added in to fill in things on the defensive end, as I wanted a balanced team. PuP Seismitoad to help beat Cune, and lastly Salamence for hazard removal and secondary Fight / Fire resist and offensive pressure.

So being my first time at Iron Chef, I felt really pressured since I'm not a good team builder myself. However, luckily I'm familiar with these 2 mons so I was very excited. When i saw the "Secret Ingredient." I immediately was seeing the big Stealth rock weakness and Fire weakness so i wanted to make a team that can cover there weakness and most of all keep rocks of the field. My thought process was immediately 3 things. 1. A Defogger that is nto weak to rocks. 2. Fire resist. 3. Rock resist. For Number 1 I decided to go with Eviolite Gligar. It provides rocks for the team as well as being the teams defogger. For Number 2 I went for Doublade. This gives me a rock resist as well as a win condition for the team. For Number 3 I went for my good ol pal suicune. I went for roar cune since Pokemon like Cm Chandelure can easily sweep the whole team. It also helps me deal with rock types and provides a fire resist. For the last mon I went with Florges to basically help take special attacks from strong pokemon such as Choice Specs Rotom-Heat, Hydreigon and etc. Florges also gives wish support and is the cleric of the team. The main issues were of course trying to make the team fuctionable. I'm not the most experience builder myself so i was worried if it would succeed. I didn't made any changes as I think the team is fine as it is in my opinion.

You want to see their teams in action?
They're here!

You may now vote for the most favorite team in terms of the three categories: Creativity, Use of Ingredient, and Effectiveness. You can also vote for one team in different categories. Here's the template on how to vote:

Creativity: Player X. [insert reason here; hint is way too self-explanatory to explain]
Use of Ingredient: Player Y. [hint: did the ingredient strongly benefit the whole team?]
Effectiveness: Player X. [insert reason here; hint is way too self-explanatory to explain]

You have until
DECEMBER 20, SUNDAY, 7:00 AM EST
to cast your vote on this thread who are
the most awe-inspiring,
the most essential,
and
the best-tasting
dishes ever witnessed this round!

Allez, cuisine!

Creativity: Not a big surprise, but Nightingales takes this. To be completely honest, even with the other people being creative on their own (such as Kreme's LO Tinted Lens Yanmega).
Use of Ingredient: Abstain. All of them seem to use the ingredient by incorporating what Mega Glalie and Yanmega do best (i.e. break walls)
Effectiveness: Imma give this one to xVarsity as I feel his team not only looks decently standard, but also uses the core as a lure core, which I really like :)

Creativity: Nightingales because she used Strong Bear. Nothing more needs to be said

Use of Ingredient: Abstain. I was looking for an "overload" team that had a wincon that enjoys Steels being softened like DD Mence, but nobody's team really did that

Effectiveness: Hmm id say Kreme. Classic Florges + Mence + Water core sprinkled with wall breakers

3, 2, 1... TIME'S UP!

Unfortunately, with the extremely low turn-out of votes for this episode (and most of them are abstaining in some categories), I have devised a plan which only applies for such instances. Scores will be up veeeeeeeeery soon!

The winner for this round is...

Chef BrandonBeast!

While Chef Nightingales impressed the Iron Chefs in the judging as she garnered the highest score, Chef BrandonBeast's win over Iron Chef Hogg brought him the upper hand to seal the victory in this episode.
. . . . . . .
Also, with the extremely low turnout of votes this episode (with 2), it happened that those two voters abstained for the Most Essential dish, and a tie happened for the Best-Tasting dish. As such, the Chairman will declare who is the Most Essential and the Best-Tasting dishes this episode. Presenting to you the special awardees of this round!

MOST AWE-INSPIRING DISH: Nightingales (unanimous votes from NV and Do A Bibarel)
MOST ESSENTIAL DISH: Nightingales (Chairman's Choice - see comment)
BEST TASTING DISH: xVarsity (Chairman's Choice - see comment)
. . . . . . .

Here are the scores and the consolidated comments from our beloved Iron Chefs!

BrandonBeast: 15.5 + 2 - 1 = 16.5
CREATIVITY: 4.5 / 5
This team actually is one of Nightingales's serious contenders in this criterion as most components of the team are very uncommon, such as Mega Glalie with Super Fang, Choice Specs Yanmega (with U-turn!), Offensive Tentacruel, Choice Scarf Krookodile, and Shuca Berry Metagross. No wonder with those unconventional sets, Iron Chef R0ady considered it to be the favorite team among the rest of the team.

USE OF INGREDIENT: 4 / 5
While there is the presence of Mega Glalie and Yanmega in the team, the supporting cast isn't strong enough for the core to shine; the lack of strong sweepers (besides Choice Scarf Krookodile) holds it back from garnering a perfect score from this criterion.

EFFECTIVENESS: 7 / 10
This is another team with great potential as the sets utilized, while uncommon, will definitely rock the opposing team quite nicely. There are some weaknesses worth addressing, however: first being Fire Spam as one of the most pressing issues to deal with in this team--once Tentacruel gets defeated (even from a very strong Fire attack due to poor physical bulk), any Fire attack would roast this team alive; the second being the lack of potent Fighting-types (or, say, Fighting attacks) to deal with Snorlax and Porygon2, the Pokemon that would give your team a hard time dealing against as it could tank a lot of hits and deal some damage back at your team. Consider putting a Fighting-type somewhere (probably Lucario) to clean house once the opposing team is weakened; Krookodile isn't enough as there are some switch-ins to both of its STABs. Otherwise, this team could be soaring to greater heights when executed very well. Well done!

Nightingales: 16 - 1 = 15
CREATIVITY: 4.5 / 5
Among the unconventional sets like a different Speed-controlling Galvantula with Thunder Wave, Spikes Mega Glalie, Liechi Berry Entei, and Choice Specs Yanmega, it is Ursaring that is a massive draw for such points. However, what holds it back to become a perfect score for this criterion is the Mega Glalie with Spikes being slapped for the sake of Creativity when it needs more coverage moves.

USE OF INGREDIENT: 5 / 5
While no spectator voted for the most essential dish, this deserves a special mention for the Chairman's Choice for such award. The reason for that is the strong incorporation of the secret ingredient in a way that there is an attempt to break Steel-types with the core, most especially coming from Yanmega's Choice Specs, Tinted Lens-boosted STAB's, and cleaning house with Lucario and Ursaring after the opposing team is sufficiently weakened to make a sweep.

EFFECTIVENESS: 6.5 / 10
Your team has great potential to make it a huge success. However, there are problems worth addressing: first being the Mega Aerodactyl problem due to the lack of Ice Shard on Mega Glalie (and Mega Aerodactyl will still outrun Ursaring even with the Quick Feet boost), second being the questionable move selection on some Pokemon in the party; finally being the lack of prompt answers to Fire attacks (though the team happens to be a heavily offensive one). The team in itself can counteract Bulky Waters very well through Galvantula; as such, Entei's Natural Gift would be a waste of potential as it is a one-time move. While Thunder Wave on Galvantula is an interesting choice, Galvantula's niche is to put on Sticky Web to the opposing team which you didn't capitalize on (which consequently wastes Galvantula's potential). As such, the Iron Chefs consolidated some suggestions and gave some serious considerations for the better of the team: Freeze-Dry on Mega Glalie (as a replacement to Entei's Liechi Berry Natural Gift), and probably Rotom-Mow or Whimsicott (with Memento) if you still wanted to maintain Speed control through Paralysis, Swords Dance Lucario with Bullet Punch (to deal with the Mega Aerodactyl problem), and Swords Dance over Protect on Ursaring if you push through with Whimsicott with Memento. Otherwise, this one of the best teams you have so far, and keep that kind of mindset when building teams!

Kreme: 15 - 1 = 14
CREATIVITY: 3.5 / 5
While there were some standard sets in the team, the unconventional move selections such as Hypnosis and Roost on Yanmega (though not as consistently successful as it is in theory), Facade on Mega Glalie, and Power-Up Punch Seismitoad warranted a considerably high score in this criterion.

USE OF INGREDIENT: 4.5 / 5
Choice Specs Magneton and Power-Up Punch Seismitoad being some of the immediate benefactors to the secret ingredient is one of the biggest draws for such a high score in this criterion, as these Pokemon exert pressure to bulky Steel- and Water-types. What holds it back from garnering a perfect score, however, is Yanmega's waste of potential with Hypnosis and/or Roost, as there is literally no opportunity for Yanmega to heal itself.

EFFECTIVENESS: 7 / 10
The team is very effective in a way that you considered the secret ingredient's biggest benefactor/supporting cast. However, while Choice Specs Magneton and Power-Up Punch Seismitoad are very capable of exerting pressure against the aforementioned bulky Steel- and Water-type Pokemon in the metagame, their abysmal Speed would fall short of fulfilling such duties; as such, offensive teams would exert pressure on this team. Also, Yanmega appreciates Giga Drain more than Roost such that it can promptly check Bulky Waters as well while healing itself in the process. Otherwise, this team is good that it shouldn't be underestimated by your opponents.

xVarsity: 13 + 2 - 2 = 13
CREATIVITY: 2.5 / 5
The only set being most notable for being uncommon is the Substitute + Calm Mind Chandelure set; yes, it really is an underrated threat to deal with. However, the rest of the team have very conventional sets (with others having the slightest of tweaks being slapped for the sake of being creative at the expense of effectiveness).

USE OF INGREDIENT: 2.5 / 5
It seemed too "overkill" to run coverage moves on Mega Glalie and Yanmega on your team, when in fact Krookodile and Chandelure already handle the Steel-types very easily, and the coverage moves of the secret ingredient wouldn't deal damage as massive as its STABs; as such, how you executed the use of the ingredient didn't fulfill what the Iron Chefs (especially the Chairman) have in mind.

EFFECTIVENESS: 8 / 10
The offensive presence of the team is, without a doubt, very high; there is no problem having five offensive Pokemon with a catch-all pivot. However, there are some problems that need addressing: first being the lack of select moves against Bulky Waters. It seems to lack a Grass attack whatsoever to deal with them, most especially Swampert, which would take a hit from any of the moves and would hit back with their STAB's, and second being the questionable selection of coverage moves from the secret ingredient, as emphasized in the Use of Ingredient criterion. As such, the Iron Chefs consolidated some suggestions for the better of the team: Freeze-Dry over Earthquake for Mega Glalie, Giga Drain (or Ancient Power) over Hidden Power Fire on Yanmega, and Energy Ball or Giga Drain over Leech Seed on Whimsicott. Otherwise, the high-octane offense of the team warranted a considerably high grade in this criterion, and deserved a special mention for the best-tasting dish ever created this round. Congratulations!

ChilliTacos: 12 + 2 - 1 = 13
CREATIVITY: 1.5 / 5
The team used way too many standard sets to find any traces of creativity, though the team in itself is unique in its own right (as in, nobody would build such a team like yours).

USE OF INGREDIENT: 3.5 / 5
The team is very intriguing as to how the supporting cast would help Mega Glalie and Yanmega to shine. This team takes a very different approach from all the teams ever seen this episode, thus warranting quite a considerable score in this criterion. However, what holds it back from garnering a perfect score in this criterion is the lack of a strong attack to deal with Steel-types (though Suicune's Scalds and Gligar's Earthquakes are enough to chip away damage, but they aren't enough to allow Mega Glalie and Yanmega to shine.

EFFECTIVENESS: 7 / 10
As it appeared to be a Balanced team, it is effective in a way that there is good synergy between every Pokemon in the team, barring Fire resistances, which only Suicune can take. However, it just seemed that all the momentum brought by the secret ingredient would lose as to how passive the defensive core containing Florges and Suicune could be. Therefore, it may struggle to hold on to attackers such as Salamence. Also, you lacked Ice Shard on Mega Glalie which is a turn-off when you need that Pokemon to at least scare Salamence and other fast Dragons. Otherwise, it's a good team that can surprisingly work wonders and it cannot be underestimated. Well done!

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

After former Iron Chef DaSpoofy's retirement, Chairman Euphonos and his team of Iron Chefs ultimately decided to appoint NV as our new Iron Chef starting next episode! While he isn't a participant of this team building competition, he made an amazing contribution in the Iron Chef as one of the loyal judges in the previous season of Iron Chef. His activity means that he'll be almost available to play, and his insightful contributions will be of greatest help to the Iron Chefs to save the hassles of judging. Don't feel too confident when you face NV in Iron Chef matches, as he will definitely "make a 'mon out of you".

. . . . . . .

By December 21, around 11 AM EST, the next secret ingredient will be revealed. Stay tuned for the most exciting, most anticipating season of Iron Chef!

CHANDELIER IN A SNOWSTORM!
(lol, I'm so bad at this)

abomasnow-mega.gif
chandelure.gif

Merry Christmas to everyone! As this is the week of sharing glad tidings this Christmas season, Mega Abomasnow is selected because of how the Frost Tree is attributed to Christmas celebrations. Chandelure is then selected as its partner as it really reminisces the prevalence of Hail teams since the past generation, although Snow Warning has already been nerfed this generation.

In this round of Iron Chef, participants should run two Pokemon (as said, this round is core-heavy): Mega Abomasnow and Chandelure. This core can be used in many different ways in various play styles. As such, how would the Chefs use these Pokemon to their assets?

Note that participants should use Abomasite as its item for Abomasnow. Otherwise, their sets are blank; therefore you may devise some EV spreads and choose your moves at your discretion.

Also, note, however, that Crawdaunt is still not allowed in this episode as it is in the process of voting whether it could stay in the tier or not.

MECHANICS || IRON CHEFS

Nearly immediately after this round has been up, two chefs have already challenged Iron Chef Euphonos with their teams: Chef vexyyyy and former Iron Chef YABO. During the vexyyyy vs. Euphonos Iron Chef match, while Iron Chef Euphonos didn't manage to bring its trump card while its trigger-man went down early, it happened that the speedy Tentacruel somehow proved too much for the challenger's team (not to mention some key Critical hits that sealed the game). On the other hand, former Iron Chef YABO tried to out-predict Iron Chef Euphonos's plays, but the Iron Chef's switch initiatives from Mega Beedrill, Whimsicott, and Probopass proved too much for the former Iron Chef. GG's!
