Done Iron Crown (QC 2/2) (GP 1/1)

[SET]
Fast Calm Mind Sweeper (Iron Crown) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Psychic / Dragon
EVs: 52 HP / 32 Def / 172 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tachyon Cutter
- Expanding Force
- Calm Mind
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Iron Crown is one of the best sweepers of the tier that, thanks to Expanding Force, hits really hard even without boosts! With Booster Energy, Iron Crown outspeeds almost everything in the metagame, and while in Psychic Terrain, it can gain a significant advantage early-game or close games easily after Dark- and Steel-types in its path have been removed.
  • Tachyon Cutter hits harder than Expanding Force when Psychic Terrain isn't up and helps against snow teams, OHKOing Alolan Ninetales before it can set up Aurora Veil. Notably, its two-hit nature allows Iron Crown to remove Focus Sash Pokemon like Chien-Pao and Glimmora with one move.
  • Calm Mind makes Iron Crown hard to remove with special attackers, especially if it Terastallized, and also helps to KO bulkier Pokemon like Terastallized Assault Vest Iron Hands, Assault Vest Rillaboom, and Gholdengo.
  • The EV spread is made to get the boost in Speed with Quark Drive while getting the maximum Special Attack possible, and the bulk investment is used to take a Flare Blitz from Incineroar.
  • Iron Crown pairs perfectly with Indeedee-F by setting up Psychic Terrain, helping it set up Calm Mind with Follow Me, and enabling it with Helping Hand to pick up KOs on foes like Terastallized Ogerpon-W after a boost. Iron Crown appreciates Follow Me for setup, and for this reason, it's usually paired with Ogerpon-W or Ogerpon-H. Ogerpon-W helps in dealing with Landorus and Fire-types like Incineroar and Chi-Yu, which can threaten Iron Crown, while Ogerpon-H can remove Steel-types like Gholdengo and Kingambit, which would otherwise prevent a sweep. Both Ogerpon formes can also threaten Ting-Lu, a foe that's otherwise hard to remove.
  • Landorus is another Pokemon that helps to remove Steel- and Fire-types. Tornadus is great too, since it threatens Rillaboom with Bleakwind Storm and makes sure that Iron Crown is always the fastest Pokemon by matching the Tailwind from opposing Tornadus and Roaring Moon.
  • Tera Psychic increases Expanding Force's damage output further, helping to get KOs and putting a lot of pressure on the opponent, especially after a Calm Mind. It also allows Iron Crown to take neutral damage from Landorus's Earth Power, Incineroar's Flare Blitz, and Ogerpon-H's Ivy Cudgel. Tera Dragon allows Iron Crown to wall both Ogerpon-W and Ogerpon-H's STAB moves and take neutral damage from Gholdengo's Shadow Ball and Dark-type moves from Kingambit and Chien-Pao. The added resistances are especially useful in the Rillaboom matchup, since the STAB boost from Tera Psychic isn't as relevant without Psychic Terrain.

With Booster Energy , Iron Crown outspeeds almost everything in the metagame and while in Psychic Terrain it can gain significant advantage in early game or close games easily after removing Dark and Steel types in his path.
  • Tachyon Cutter hits harder than Expanding Force when Psychic Terrain isn't up, and helps against Snow teams, oneshotting OHKOing Ninetales-A before it can set (add space) up Aurora Veil. Notably by hitting two times, it can remove with one move Focus Sash Pokemon like Chien-Pao and Glimmora with one move.
  • Calm Mind makes Iron Crown hard to remove with Special Attackers, especially if terastilized and also helps to KO bulkier Pokémon like terastilized Terastallized Assault Vest Iron Hands, Assault Vest Rillaboom, and Gholdengo.
  • Iron Crown pairs perfectly with Indeedee-F by setting up Psychic Terrain, helping to setup Calm Mind with Follow Me and to pick up KOs with Helping Hand after a boost, like Tera'd Ogerpon-W. Iron Crown really likes Follow Me to setup, for this reason it's usually paired with Ogerpon-W or Ogerpon-H. Ogerpon-W helps dealing with Landorus, Incineroar and other Fire-tTypes that can threaten Iron Crown, while Ogerpon-H can remove Steel-tTypes that would otherwise prevent a sweep. Landorus is another Pokemon that helps to remove Steel-types (Like?) and Dark Types like Incineroar and Chi-Yu that wall Expanding Force. Tornadus is also great, since it makes sure that Iron Crown is always the fastest Pokemon even against opposing tailwinds (I would reword this to mention Roaring Moon & address how Tornadus can specifically match Tailwind into Moon/itself) and threatens Rillaboom with Bleakwind Storm.
  • Tera Psychic increases Expanding Force output further, helping to get OHKOs (OHKOs on what?) and putting a lot of pressure on the opponent, especially after a Calm Mind. It also removes the Ground and Fire weakness, allowing to take neutral damage from Landorus's Earth Power and Flare Blitz from Incineroar (It already hits Crown S/E with Knock Off so I'm not sure how relevant this is. I would address Hearthflame Ivy Cudgel here also). Tera Dragon allows Iron Crown to wall both Ogerpon-W and Ogerpon-H's stabs STAB moves and to take neutral damage from Gholdengo's Shadow Ball's and Dark Type moves from Kingambit or Chien-Pao. The added resiliance is resistances are especially useful in the Rillaboom Matchup since the boost from the Psychic Tera (add space) type isn't as relevant without Psychic terrain.
  • The spread is made to get the boost in Speed with Quark Drive while getting the maximum Special Attack possible and the rest of the evs are used to take a Flare Blitz from Incineroar.

Ogerpon-W helps dealing with Landorus, Incineroar and other Fire Types that can threaten Iron Crown, while Ogerpon-H can remove Steel-Types that would otherwise prevent a sweep. Ting-Lu might be worth a mention here, since vessel of ruin hinders crown's attacking capabilities (and threatens it offensively) and Ogerpon formes help to check it.
  • Landorus is another Pokemon that helps to remove Steel types like Gholdengo and Kingambit, and Fire-types like Incineroar and Chi-Yu that wall Expanding Force. Tornadus is great too, since it makes sure that Iron Crown is always the fastest Pokemon by matching the opposing Tailwind from Tornadus and Roaring Moon, it also threatens Rillaboom with Bleakwind Storm. Don't have to implement this, but I think Tornadus would be better as a separate bullet point since these two sentences aren't really tied together.
  • Tera Psychic increases Expanding Force output further, helping to get OHKOs Add examples of what OHKOes tera psychic guarentees or reword and putting a lot of pressure on the opponent, especially after a Calm Mind. Good to mark 2/2 once implemented

  • (Based on the analysis skeleton, shouldn't these last two bullet points come before the teammate bullet points?) yeah the EV spread should definitely be put first but tera last makes sense to me here because it shows what the pokemon can do without the teammates that counter things already mentioned
