I know it sounds like a stupid question, but does everyone here use it a lot?
I would download it, but I have a bad feeling it will have a virus or something.

There is no excuse not to, if you want to get good. Assuming that you download it from Shoddy's site, then you will get no virus, and it won't harm your computer.
 
Worth getting? It's free. So the only "cost" of getting it is the transaction costs (ie, installing java and installing shoddy), so if the transaction costs are too high (ie, you are lazy), then it may not be worth getting (since if you're that lazy, I don't think you would enjoy building teams either).

Now of course, you have to calculate the benefits. By the fact that you asked this question, I would say that you can't put two and two together, so it is quite unlikely you will win any battles (presumably because it's quite likely you're terrible at Pokemon), so you will not get any benefit from it, unless you enjoy losing.

So no, for you, it is not worth getting. Go back to wifi battling. Thanks.

Lol, let's not forget opportunity costs. You could be studying or playing a sport instead of laddering.
