Is there such thing as a Shiny Mystry Mew?

Also, for the pokeRus, it shouldn't be hard to get it with the GTS now and stuff. So I wouldn't immediately call that suspicious. I for example have my Shinies with the PokeRus. It could be that the person got the Shiny Mew and gave it the PokeRus and stuff by trading with a another pokemon in the GTS. I believe all TMs and HMs can be taught to Mew as well... so I wouldn't call Surf suspicious either. And finally, like you said, it's at level 37, which could mean that the trainer simply trained it to that level. Though, I can't really be sure. How'd you find out that the other mew was hacked?

Pretty sure that happens only on the pokemon number you see (151 for Mew, 386 for Deoxys, 491 for Darkrai, etc)

ok.....

so does that mean that mystry mews with both red and blue OT lettering are legit? all my mystry mews have red OT lettering in the Mystry name.

That's probably the attendant's gender, as in, the person ywho download Mew into your game.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you plan on using it in a tourney, explain to the attendants that you got it in a trade and you're wondering if it's hacked and if it's allowed in the tourney.

Here are the IVS for it assuming it has no EVS, using Metal Kid's calculator.

HP: 9,10
Attack: 30,31
Defense: 25,26,27
Special Attack: 9,10
Special Defense: 25,26,27
Speed: Invalid

Something is weird about the Speed IV. Use EV-sucking berries to see if it has any EVS or not.

Umm, as long as your pokemon comes with legal IV/Moves/EVs, they can be placed in PBR. I've seen a video where someone used a Shiny Aerodactyl caught in a Master Ball
Hm...interesting, I alway thought it would not allow hacked/sharked and/or action replayed pokemon to go onto PBR but I'm wrong.

In my honest opinion I would that it's really hard to tell if it's hack or not but if it doesn't screw up your game then I say there's no big problem with it. If it does screw your chance of entering in the tourny then you can alway play againest your friends who don't mind battling again "hacked" pokemon.

hmm yeah i checked the ivs earlier for my shiny mew and it seems to be a perfect 31 (I used the IV calculator at Serebii.net)
I'll try using tomato berries and other ev sucking berries to see if it has any evs. hmm....

Oh and to answer Hypnotist's question I didn't really know. I just assumed that since it had blue OT writing for mystry that it was a fake. But it seems that other people on the web are saying otherwise and it seems like both blue and red OT lettering in Mystry mew is legit?

Come again? Can't anybody here give me a straight answer? How about those people that attended the TRU mew giveaway event? what colour was the OT writing in Mystry? Red or pink?

As for the OT colour thing for mystry which do you guys see more often?
Red or Blue lettering?

However, Serebii's calculator will put 31 for an IV if it goes too high, which is why metalkid put 'invalid' instead. So there is either EVS in the Speed or a hack on the Speed.

My boyfriend went to the event, and he got a blue one, so it's possible to get either of them. I also have a shiny MYSTRY Mew, and that one has blue lettering as well, so I thought they could only be blue, but they can be either, as people in this thread have said.

i see. so i guess its confirmed then. both versions with blue and red OT lettering in "mystry" is legit. alright. Just wanted that answered. Hmm if I may ask how did you get your shiny mystry mew? A trade? or did you get it from the event?

Ok after obtaining a tomato berry I tried it on my shiny mew. It accepted it and lost some evs. So i guess then the speed state was just maxed out with evs.

Well at least its some additional proof and assurance that suggests my mew is not a hack.

Trade, so I have no idea if mine's legit either. :S

Try all the EV-reducting berries because it has to have more than Speed EVs, its at LV.37 and the owner got it at Lv.10 so it has to have many EVs gotten by Leveling-Up

Anyway you are lucky person because of havin' your Shiny Mew

well yeah i would normally do so but i guess since speed was the only worrisome element that looked "weird" I don't really have to worry about the rest. although i guess I could try and see if there are any evs for the other stats.

oh and thanks for the comment. Yeah even if it is a hack you don't see that many shiny mews that have mystry in its name. Of course I still have hope that its not a hack.

There is a reasonable chance its legit with the advent of easy-cloning (however immoral) and the relative widespread of Pokerus.

Anything super rare is likely to be cloned over and over and thus given away for supposedly lesser Pokemon, kinda like the people on GTS trading Mewtwos and such for Lv40 Toxicroak, as cloning a Pokemon you already have is easier than catching and raising a Croagunk. Its just how many people are.

As for hack detection, its a very clear cut thing, Pokemon are just data, if you hack a Pokemon that has data that is identical to a legitimate Pokemon there is no way to tell its hacked. In fact at some Nintendo events the Pokemon they give out are produced in much the same way that an AR hacker would hack a Pokemon. As such replicating hacked Pokemon is a cinch.

I have a MYSTRY mew that I obtained myself by going to the event, the name is in Blue (as I was using May) and pretty much is similar to yours, except that I transfered mine over at lvl 59, and it says from Hoenn as well. No shiney, though.

Shiny Mystry Mews don't exist, sorry. I'm pretty sure there was only ever one event that gave out shiny Mews (and with a greater frequency than usual), and that was in Japan.

Surgo, where exactly did that information come from? I'm fairly certain that they do indeed exist. That, or the event co-coordinator I talked to was lying. Not trying to be rude here, I just want to get my story straight. =)

(I admit, the two carts I've examined did NOT have a shiny mew on them though... and two carts is just about enough mews that one would have seen one, yeah?)

The real take home message here is that breeding is a waste of time and I feel like a moron for ever doing it. Just hack as it has become apparent that Nintendo cannot and is not ever going to figure out a way to stop it. Hurray wasted hours.

I think that's not a solid take home message. Read the Gamefaqs PBR forum, that message isn't in vogue right now. ;D PBR apparently tosses out a lot of the hacks.

Plus, ethical behavior is paramount. That kind of reasoning is exactly the kind of thing that ruins a reputation and creates tarnish on achievement.

Comes from someone who has examined 3 carts, and verified that all carts as far as we know are copies of those three. None of those three contained a shiny Mew.
