After recent discussion in the On The Radar thread, 1v1 council has voted to ban Ogerpon-Cornerstone and Snorlax.

Ogerpon-Cornerstone has the amazing combination of Sturdy and base 110 Speed, which allowed it to be a blanket check to most pokemon already slower than it by default, automatically limiting possible counterplay. Especially present in Leech Seed sets, often being able to use Leech Seed and instantly win once the attack landed. Utility options like Counter, Encore, Taunt and Spiky Shield could be switched around in order to put a variety of mons that should usually win consistently into 50/50 or entirely losing matchups. Its mask isn't just for show either. Boasting a 1.2x boost to all attacking moves made it quite a threat, boosting the damage of already great STAB options like Ivy Cudgel and Power Whip, making teching with items like resist berries much harder. The mask also provides a Trick immunity, nullifying Choiced Trick users like Cresselia by existing.

Snorlax has made yet another 1v1 banlist, for a lot of reasons similar to the previous generation. The preferred food choice of Snorlax, Custap Berry luckily came back with the release of DLC, which in combination with Belly Drum is able to shred a lot of viable pokemon almost instantly. This was made especially potent with Encore, as Snorlax could lock opponents into setup or recovery which almost always secured a win for Snorlax. Counter was also very common, allowing Snorlax to beat physical attackers scared of being Encored into setup moves. As much as Snorlax loves its berries, Choice Band and Stall sets also proved to be just as good, flipping matchups and taking advantage of the pressure the more popular Custap sets made on preview. Accounting for every set proved very limiting, with most counters being limited to Ghost types or Protect users, which still were not consistent answers into Snorlax anyways.

Moving onwards, most players have discussed wanting some form of tiering action on Iron Valiant and Regidrago. With two of the most centralizing forces in the current metagame gone, we will hopefully be able to gauge the impact Iron Valiant and Regidrago have more accurately. Both of these pokemon had good matchups into most variants of the two slated pokemon, so they should remain close to where they are in terms of viability. I would like to direct anyone with opinions on the new state of the metagame to post in 1v1 Metagame Discussion Thread, as we keep our eyes on new changes.
