Its Raining and Pouring!

I've been experimenting teams ever since Drizzle+Swift Swim was gone. I've decided that this is my end-product. I also request help on how to improve the team. Thanks!

30459 (Genosekuto) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- U-turn
- Bug Buzz
- Ice Beam
- Thunder

Here comes Genesect. I honestly like him a lead. U-turn is there for scouting, and deal a good amount to Tyranitar. I personally do not like sand interfering in my way, so I threw in Ice Beam to 2KO Hippowdon, and Bug Buzz for others. Usually after I U-turn I usually go to Politoed to get the rain pouring. To explain the nature, I couldn't get an attack decrease if I threw Timid or Modest, I was forced to use Hasty so U-turn's power may not be dropped.

01839 (Politoed) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Boil Over
- Perish Song
- Hypnosis
- Protect

Politoed the one who brings rain. I just love the perish song set. Those who think they can set up in my face, is going to be halted immediately after perish song is set. I'll usually use protect to stall out some turns, and then switch to Genesect to deal with whatever hurt they're packing. To explain the nature and EV Spread, I generally made Politoed a special wall. This little guy is BULKY against Special attacks.

? (Kerudio) @ Leftovers
Trait: Justice Heart
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Surf
- Mystery Sword
- Substitute

I originally had Cloyster for this little fella, but honestly I do not know. The classic calm mind set coupled in with Substitute. In my eyes, Hidden ELEC really didn't do crap. So I instead threw Substitute. I guess the EVS are self explanatory as well as the EV Spread. I threw in leftovers because I am subbing up.

4 (Breloom) (M) @ Meadow Plate
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Spore
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch

Breloom. A mushroom with steroids. Your classic Techniloom. Spore up, SD Up, and Mach punch your way through. I threw in Meadow Plate to boost its bullet seed. Although I might be swapping him out... your suggestions?

Prototype0 (Toxicroak) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Substitute

I had another pokemon to abuse the rain in.. and that was Toxicroak. I usually substitute when Breloom did the job and spore, and so I SD. This guy is my late game sweeper of the sort, and does one heck of a job.

Radium (Zapdos) @ Leftovers
Trait: Lightningrod
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Thunder
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Agility

I originally had Borotoursu for this, but I wanted an complete electric immunity. So I opted for this guy, and I am liking this guy in the team. I usually switch into the electric attack and get a free boost. Agility is filler, when I am on the substitute and I know I will kill the next pokemon, but I go for the agility for future attacks.

Conclusion - I really do need help in this team, and I see a glaring flying and psychic type weakness. Once again I request your help from Smogon :D

CURRENTLY TESTING

Jolteon
Azumarill
Ludicolo
Zapdos

Hey how's it going i have been using rain a lot also. I think i can make a couple suggestions. First i just have a suggestion for your Politoad. I don't really like Hypnosis since the accuracy is very bad and unreliable. You may want to try and swap it out for toxic or encore. Toxic works well in tandem with protect while encore can help if they get stuck in a non attacking move. I also think perish song is a waste since most people will just switch out anyway when they are almost dead. In this slot you can add Hidden Power Grass/Electric, or you can add in Focus Blast. Both Hidden Powers work well and gives you the ability to hit opposing water types. Now Focus Blast gives you a shot to harm Ferrathorns and Tyranitars just a little bit harder. It all just depends on what you want to cover.

Now for the Flying weakness i suggest either Jolteon or Zapdos.

Jolteon @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Ability: Volt Absorb
Ev's: 252 Sp. Atk/ 252 Spe / 4 Spd
Ms:
~ Thunder
~ Shadow Ball
~ HP Ice
~ Charge Beam

Or

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Nature: Timid
Ability: Lightningrod
Ev's: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Spd
Ms:
~ Substitute
~ Thunder
~ HP Ice
~ Roost

I have tested both of these out and they both have been working well. It just depends on if you want more speed with jolteon, or more bulk and more power with Zapdos. I would suggest either taking out either Breloom or Toxicroak for either one of these. If you don't like that you can play around with what team members you want.

Now for the Psychic type weakness i have found a Latias really useful. Adds nice synergy with the team and resists Electric and Grass for the team.

Latias @ Leftovers
Nature: Timid
Ability: Levitate
Ev's: 112 HP / 204 Sp. Atk / 192 Spe
Ms:
~ Wish
~ Protect
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Thunder

Adds great wish support for the team to help the sweepers survivability. Thunder is chosen for the ability to hit both water types and hit steel types for at least neutral coverage, (bar Ferrathorn.)

If you want a really nice priority mover i suggest trying out a CB Azumarill. It helps a lot against a lot of common threats including: Blaziken, Exadrill, Volcarona, and amoung others.

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Huge Power
Ev's: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Ms:
~ Aqua Jet
~ Waterfall
~ Return
~ Superpower

And one last suggestion you can always try out. I used to run Breloom as well until i discovered SD Ludicolo. You May be laughing but it is pretty deadly in the rain. Nice surprise factor and benefits in the rain more than Breloom would.

Ludicolo @ Life Orb / Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Rain Dish
Ev's: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Ms:
~ Swords Dance
~ Seed Bomb
~ Waterfall
~ Ice Punch

It's up to you for the item. Leftovers combined with rain dish allows him to survive longer. I feel like the doesn't need the speed since he is slow as hell anyway and the Ev's would be better put in HP to make him bulkier. 8 Speed Ev's allows you to outspeed 0 speed Ev'd Skarmorys. If you find that you would rather him be speedier you can change the Ev's to your liking.

Well those are a couple suggestions that i see and i hope that they can help.

Ha anytime! If there's some stuff you tested and have found that works let me know! I'm still experimenting with my own rain team as well.

Alright I've tested Azumarill in place of Breloom, and its doing pretty good :P

I have also tested the SD Ludicolo and I am surprised to say its doing well. I still feel the team is off though.

I'll be testing Zapdos and jolteon.

Id turf Toxicroak in favor of Scrafty to counter your psychic weakness while keeping up with your apparent love for fighting types.

Scrafty @ Leftovers
Shed Skin Ability
Impish Nature
-Toxic
-Crunch
-Drain Punch
-Bulk Up
EVs: 252 HP, 200 DEF, 52 SPEC. DEF, 4 SPD

Pretty self explanatory for how this will help counter your psychic problems. Pretty standard physical tank set.

well honestly imo i prefer breloom over ludicolo because honestly spore is just too much of a requirement. I would love to have a 100 percent chance of putting my opponent to sleep and preventing them from doing anything. Then i could swords dance up and mach punch everything. Also i have a question for mrirrelevant. since you run a rain dance team as well you know the style well and was wondering with all those suggestions you made which do you recommend because there are so many to chose from. Also for the scrafty thing. There is a pokemon actually called scrafty. it is a dark and fighting type here is a link for scrafty information.

I'll be testing Zapdos and jolteon.

I recently dropped ludicolo and added in Virizion. I've got to say the think is a monster... I have swept so much with it. I am liking it more than Ludicolo personally.

Virizion @ Life Orb
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Heart Of Justice
Ev's: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Spd
Ms:
~ Swords Dance
~ Leaf Blade
~ Holy Sword
~ X-Scissor

X-Scissor is mainly for the psychic types that got annoying. I'm surprised that this is doing so well. Or a calm mind one may work but i haven't tested it yet.

scrafty is a good pokemon to counter a lot of things and he is pretty dang tough to kill. He has decent defences and is a really tough opponent if you don't have super effective moves against him

Yeah i agree i may give him a shot. I really only have 5 Pokemon that are irreplaceable on my team. The 6th slot i shuffle around a lot and haven't found anything really solid. Scarfty could be that person i will try.

Alright.. I have so many things to choose from.... I need recommendations :D

Alright I am swapping Toxicroak and currently testing Scrafty.

I also swapped out Borotorusu for Zapdos, and I'll see how it works out

Azumarill
Virzion
Zapdos
Latias

I had really good success with all of those when i was testing. Jolteon wasn't really cutting it. Like i said Ludicolo was nice it was just way to slow.

i tested all of thos e except of verizion i think il test that tomorrow.

Latias didnt work too well for me i think it might have been the moveset of somethin but it didnt work for me

Azumarill worked out really well with his butt kickin aqua jet

Zapdos worked really well and is good to switch in on any electric attacks. Especially useful agains thunderwave blisseys and stuff like that.

If you need more options here are some of the options from my rain dance team:

642.png

Borutorosu
Ability:Competetive Spirit
Nature:Timid
EVs: 252 Spa, 252 Spe, 4 hp
Item:Leftovers
MOVESET:
Focus Blast
Thunder
Hidden Power (ice)
Grass Knot

Really good switch in. A lot like zapdos only i think this guy is a better sweeper. Provides good type coverage. I took him over the guy you had because of bein an electric flying type and not just a plain flying type. they have same base stats though.

Garchomp
Ability:Sand veil
Nature:Jolly
EVs:252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 hp
Item:Haban Berry
MOVESET:
Earthquake
Stoneedge
Aqua Tail
Dragon Claw

This guy helps out a lot against sand storm teams. He is who i switch in if i see a hippowdon or somthing i run haban berries for those annoying outrages and draco meteors.

Nattorei
Abiltiy:Iron Barbs
Nature:Sassy
EVs:248 hp, 128 Def, 132 Sdef
Item:Occa Berry
MOVESET:
Power whip
Gyro Ball
Curse
Level Field

This guy is insane if you can get curse in. Once you use curse a few times you can just Gyro Ball away. (P.S. for best results make sure he has 0 Speed I.V.s)

My final option for a good sweeper is

Vaporeon@Leftovers 252 Spa, 212Def, 40 Spe
Ability:Hydration
Nature:Modest

MOVESET:
Rest
Surf
Ice Beam
Hidden Power(electric)

With hydration as his ability he now can rest without going to sleep so he just heals. really good moveset and can cover most things.

Yeah the wish Latias didn't do so well. I switched over to a CM latias and am loving it. But i have a question. For garchomp wouldn't it be better to have it be a choice scarfer or a sub set? The dragon type moves can be taken by steel types on the team. Nattorei with curse huh? That is new. Has it been working out well? And the Vap you have suggested is great. I have used it and liked it.

Garchomp:
yeah garchomp i am still experimenting with on my team so different posssibilities are open.

Ferrothorn:
Yes curse has been working wonders on him. The only thing you need to look out for is roar. Other then that he is awesome. I have always been able to set up at least 2 or 3 curses. one game i actually got 5 curses out and i had a 0 speed 1156 attack 1438 defence ferrothorn using gyro ball on everyone.

I am really appreciating all the helpful comments you have been all given.

I have tested Scrafty and I am liking him a bit.

For Dragonite why Choice Specs? You could throw a scarf and run Thunder, Draco Meteor, Hurricane, and Surf.

Curse Ferrothorn... I feel its a bit gimmicky. And if you want him not to be whirlwinded, then you can always run Ingrain on it.

Alright here is what I am giving up so far.

I am appreciating Zapdos and Azumarill on the team. They are being great assets to the team. I might replace Genesect any opinions?

As for Birijon AKA Virizon I am liking him on the team a bit, as he is THE answer to Nattorei, Chansey, and other bulky tards.. but I need to test him further
