Other Metagames It's Simple: Simple Spam HO

Peaked r45, 1514 elo
With the advent of the power trip suspect I decided to make a team featuring a funny set nihilslave posted. This is an HO team that revolves around using simple to set up ludicrous stat boosts and demolish everything in your path. Improofing is naturally going to be very difficult on this style of team, so many otherwise suboptimal choices. Speaking about losing to :chansey: , my first team member is

Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Cotton Guard
- Take Heart
- Body Press
- Stored Power

I was looking at the power trip suspect and I saw Nihilslave post this very interesting set and make a very interesting arguement: I.e. power trip isn't broken, simple is. I thought this was interesting and decided to build a team where simple was the centerpiece. The :Zamazenta: set in particular is running double dance, with max evs in every stat except for attack, which is minimized for strength sap and other more niche mechanics. It has cotton guard, which maximizes defense, to take on all physical attacks except for crits and :Rayquaza:'s Aerialate Explosion. Take Heart boosts special defense and more importantly removes crippling status conditions that would stop :Zamazenta: from sweeping such as paralysis. It also boosts the power of the wonderful Stored Power, which can OHKO nearly every ghost who wants to stop a body press set. Zamazenta's low special attack is compensated for with the ease of aquiring buffs to the stat to make it a ludicrously strong attacker. Finally, :Zamazenta: holds the leftovers to provide chip healing which can allow it to check attackers such as :garchomp-mega: , :arceus-steel: , :arceus-fire: , :arceus-ghost: , :blaziken-mega: , :eternatus: , opposing :zamazenta: , non-tcage :miraidon: , :koraidon: , :arceus-ground: and more! Improofed by :sableye-mega:

Zamazenta calcs
252+ Atk Choice Band Sword of Ruin Garchomp-Mega Glaive Rush vs. +6 252 HP / 252 Def Zamazenta: 94-112 (24.2 - 28.8%) -- possible 5HKO
252 SpA Spooky Plate Arceus-Ghost Judgment vs. +2 252 HP / 252 SpD Zamazenta: 67-79 (17.2 - 20.3%) -- possible 7HKO
252+ Atk Blaziken-Mega V-create vs. +6 252 HP / 252 Def Zamazenta in Harsh Sunshine: 102-121 (26.2 - 31.1%) -- 12.1% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Arceus-Steel Tachyon Cutter (2 hits) vs. +2 252 HP / 252 SpD Zamazenta: 56-68 (14.4 - 17.5%) -- possible 9HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Eternatus Dragon Energy (150 BP) vs. +2 252 HP / 252 SpD Zamazenta: 125-148 (32.2 - 38.1%) -- 0.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Sableye-Mega @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk, 0 Spe
- Haze
- Destiny Bond
- U-turn
- Nuzzle

This is very close to a set by QT , using prankster destiny bond to emergency improof the team. The difference here is that it's :sableye-mega: , and that I put haze over stone axe. I was finding the team had more difficulty with multiple opposing setup sweepers more than it did with focus sashes, so I replaced stone axe with haze. The reason why I chose :sableye-mega: is because it is immune to both of :zamazenta:'s attacks, meaning it can swap in for free and press uturn for momentum. The EVs make it as bulky as possible to not die on the switch, and it is as slow as possible for maximum momentum with uturn. It has haze to prevent setup from pokemon that it can effectively wall without such as :shuckle: or :deoxys-defense: from low ladder players while also providing a way for :zamazenta: to potentially switch into a setup :tyranitar-mega: after removing it's boosts. Destiny bond allows it to remove threatening fairy types such as :arceus-fairy: and :fluttermane:, which it can do due to the fairy weakness as opposed to resistance from :registeel:. Nuzzle removes passivity slightly and also cripples imposter :chansey: and :blissey: without a covert cloak. Finally, leftovers allows for recovery to dodge kos after taking hits repeatedly. Improofed by imposter getting paralyzed and being dead to the rest of the team.

Iron Valiant @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Victory Dance
- Take Heart
- Stored Power
- Magical Torque

The third member of the team is Iron Gender itself, arriving from a guy I fought on ladder with another double dance set to meme on pokemon trying to press mortal spin to mess with setup. The Weakness Policy turns pokemon like :ting-lu:, :melmetal:, :audino-mega:, :scizor-mega:, :dialga-origin:, and other pokemon that typically use moves it is weak to into insane buffs, allowing for potential sweeps at the drop of a hat. Victory Dance and Take Heart make this a double dance set which can boost up it's defenses and speed, eat a hit, and go crazy with Stored Power for sheer damage and Magical Torque for dark types. Improofed by speed tie if you're cool, :sableye-mega: if you're a fraud.

Arceus-Steel @ Earth Plate
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Judgment
- Tachyon Cutter
- Nasty Plot
- Shore Up

The main problem with simple is that it doubles the amount that your stats are decreased as well, making sticky web a nightmare to fight. In addition, all of my abusers are weak to fairy, requiring a sturdy check to :arceus-fairy: that isn't trading with sableye. :arceus-steel: provides these checks with healing, bulk, and magic bounce to stop ladder cheese. It's also immune to topsy from pokemon like :audino-mega: and :celesteela:, making it an ideal setup sweeper. Tachyon cutter allows for masisve damage to fairies, Judgement is because of that damn blob, Nasty plot is setup, Shore Up is sort of improofed because you kill :chansey: faster than it heals.
Selfproof, :zamazenta: can sort of use as fodder.

Giratina-Origin
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Tidy Up
- Poltergeist
- Triple Arrows
- Shore Up

Another mon, another shoutout. This time I'm giving credit to Onyx Onix 7 for the set from their RMT, (https://www.smogon.com/forums/threa...ons-gen-9-bh-rank-1-ghost-types-only.3762697/) except with Giratina and simple. Essentially, I needed proofed removal and also another simple pokemon, so I put tidy up and poltergeist on an itemless ghost to beat :chansey:. Triple Arrows over Gunk shot is because I hate missing and not being fully proofed and also poltergiest typically does enough unless the pokemon is literally a free switch to :arceus-steel: anyways. Text is getting shorter because the pokemon are getting less interesting and more self explanatory.
Fully selfproofed, :zamazenta: can use as setup again if you're poisoned or salt cured.

Tyranitar-Mega @ Clear Amulet
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Power Trip
- Strength Sap
- Victory Dance
- Spirit Shackle

Speaking of less interesting and more self explanatory, it's big :Tyranitar:! This pokemon is the exact same set as every other team. Clear Amulet means you can spam victory dance safely and still imposter proof with strength sap, power trip does infinite damage to everything except fur coat :zamazenta: :audino-mega: :arceus-fairy: :arceus-fighting: :arceus-dark: :yveltal:, spirit shackle lets you trap :chansey: for free setup and kill. :tyranitar: has been done to death, EVs are max because it's free and harmless, let's move on.
Selfproof, :sableye-mega: can proof with destiny bond, :zamazenta: can set up on it if you catch imposter without setup.

How to Beat Imposter With Tyranitar For New Players
Press spirit shackle turn one and spam strength sap until they run out of power trips and victory dances. Then set up to max and press spirit shackle until they run out of strength saps. Then press power trip until they die. If you don't get crit, this should work every time.

Peak Game (not very interesting)

I didn't save any replays due to this being mainly a joke team to use simple on a test alt, so that's the only replay I actually have. Anyways, I hope you enjoy pressing funny buttons for infinite damage into less funny teams.
