IYO, how common is Dragonite on Wi-fi?

It seems like there are a lot more Dragonites lately than before, but maybe it's just me. I figured with Draggy getting outclassed by 2 Dragons this gen, you really wouldn't see it around too much.

I use Dragonite, though most competitive teams will run either Garchomp or Salamence because they're superior. All three have their uses:

Dragonite can do whatever the other two can, but not as effectively. I hear it makes a good Subpuncher though.
Salamence will either be a CSmence, a DDmence, or a mixmence.
Garchomp... I have no idea off the top of my head if its Sp. Attack is useful, so it'll probably just stick to DDOutrage/ CBoutrage. Also makes a great Tyranitar partner.

A lot of people on GameFAQs use Dragonite out of favouritism (or so I've seen thus far), and personally that's the main reason I use it rather than Garchomp, since my team badly needs a ground-type. On most truly competitive teams though, you're more likely to run into Salamence and Garchomp.

Hmm, that may be it...a LOT of GameFAQs teams runs Dragonite and that's probably why I've seen so many.

I was really wondering why this 'inferior Pokemon' was seeing so much play.

I've played 28 matches on Smogon and Serebii. So far, the only Dragonite I've seen has been my own. Personally, I use it just because its cooler than Salamence or Garchomp.

I use it out of favouritism. Garchomp and Salamence are 5x more common at LEAST.

And the confusion ended 2 turns in so it wasn't AS unlikely >__>

Its not inferior by much, something else I've been pointing out as of late is Dragonite's Outrage + Dragon Dance set hits as hard if not harder than any super effective move does and only needs a fire move as coverage always leaving you a free 4th moveslot.

Far more efficient.

His Outrage is a bit stronger than Garchomp's. Dragonite actually has better Attack and Special Attack than Garchomp, as well as more Defense and Special Defense (balanced out by Garchomp's HP, though)

That Speed on Garchomp kills it though. I wonder how a Choice Scarf Outrage Dragonite would fare.

very true i've played a good set of matches as well and the only nite ive seen has been my own but i didnt use it for favoritism...........DDance outrage with maggy as a partner is a huge nuisance to any team and it has helped me to win a few matches

im thinking most people use Dragonite because it doesnt have to breed to get outrage, or its just their favorite. people use Salamence and Garchomp because...
- Specsmence is supposedly the best Special sweeper right now
- Garchomp has STAB EQ and Outrage AND Sand Veil with the common TTar.
Dragonite gets Bolt-Beam over both of them, however. thats atleast a decent reason to use it, but for special sweeping id rather use Specsmence.

Hmm, this is a really tough choice...I swear I'm seeing Dragonite really often, but I'm trying not to make a team of super-OU Pokemon....I was considering adding Lucario 'til I found out that everyone else uses him too. I can't think of a good physical sweeper that could replace him and also isn't already used by everyone else.

Hmmm, y'know, you're right...all of the Pokes on my team are pretty much ones that I like using (Spiritomb is a necessary wall, of course, but he's interesting, so he'll be cool to use), so I guess if I have one super-OU Pokemon, the world won't end.....Dragonite stays!

I personally don't like the way Salamence looks, lol. And that is the reason I use either Draggy or Gar. Though usually I use draggy simply because he was my first favorite dragon.
