Hiya everyone, just wanted to tell you that the January shoddybattle stats are up on the site, and here's the link:

My thoughts:

- Wow, so Deoxys-S was used so much at the beginning of its allowance, but its use has dwindled severely since then...I'm not impressed. -.-

- Garchomp is now in the #1 spot, while Blissey is #2...wow so I guess the queen has been dethroned!

- Kingdra and Ninjask are most likely in OU now

- Gallade and Aerodactyl may very well be back in OU...just barely

- Deoxys-E is only #44, very low for something that people thought was too powerful

- Froslass usage seems to have gone back down, so much for it being super-close to OU

- I'm loving the extreme Shuckle rise (#65)

- Rain teams are definitely having a rise, so Ludicolo is getting much higher as well (#66)

- If OUs cut-off point is 49 again (I think it was), then Abomasnow is hanging on by a thread

- BIBAREL HAS FINALLY TAKEN OVER BIDOOF

Keep in mind that was all for weighted usage, I'm not looking at unweighted usage much

- How the hell is more Regigigas leads than Wailords? -.-

- Heh, I hate Salamence leads, I swear, this thing never used to be such a common lead!

Heh, share your thoughts on these stats!

As predicted by many on the boards, Lucario's usage has risen a lot, he's now #6 on the Weighted and Unweighted usage. He finally got the credit he deserved.

I would just like to add that Deoxys-E is that low in the list because, if I'm not mistaken, it was unbanned on the ladder on January 15.

Multiplying its weighted usage by 2, giving an approximate of its usage for a one month time period, it would be #21 on the list. Still not game-breaking imo.

And Celebi rises from 37 to 22, while Infernape and Cresselia usage are noticeably down.

Yeah, I know that he was banned on the 15th. If you look at the graph that they have of Deoxys-S usage since the 15th, you'll see how little it's actually used now.

Why is Ninjask so high up in the lead chart? #7... <_<

I'm surprised Cressy is only 17# in the weighted list.. not surprised that Garchomp took the #1 spot, because it is the most dangerous pokemon in the metagame.

Yay Garchomp beats Blissey! Shoddy players are getting better! ...or they just really like garchomp =)

Lucario made a huge jump; not suprising as the SD life orb set is extremely powerful and easy to use.

I love the graph of Deoxys usage. Starts really high, then people realize it's not that great, and it moves steadily down...except for that random spike in usage around row 25...i wonder what that's about. Anyway it's looking like Deoxys-S is here to stay.

Also notable is that TTar and Obama leads are way up from last month, (obviously) suggesting that weather teams are becoming very popular again.

Good Luck, Deoxys! --TAY

Oh, I didn't notice from the graph that Deoxys-E usage was already decreasing this early on until now (I was battling when I saw the graph at first). Looks like Deoxys-E would be overcentralizing the metagame any time soon.

40~50 % when adding usages of Tyranitar and Hippo...

So that's not a surprise if Garchomp is #1... Everyone seems to love haxx with chomp + TSS -_-'

If a thing should be Banned, that's really tss + chomp, it's too broken -_-'

I can can see that Deoxys has not had enough time to be astablished just as high as Blissey, etc. However, since many people doubt its chances of staying within the OU metagame, they might not use it because of a likely banning in the near future. So the majority are playing without him as they see a likely banning soon enough.

Garchomp is No.1? I can tell you I haven't seen as many Chomps or Blisseys that much on the ladder compared to a few months back. ScarfChomp has taken a back-seat to various other movesets he can benifit from, ie: LifeOrb Chomp.

Lucario will have a even better month this time around, as its set will forever grow due its overwhelming ability to tear teams apart. Life Orb, Swords Dance and CC (180) coming off a 350 Attack stat, pretty scary?

Looking into this more, later.

nape got dropped quite a bit as lucario jumped up (i guess everyone is learning about the SD set, altohugh i kind of prefer specs)
cress and blissey falling is kinda nice though

Bah, the thing was I tried without Blissey yesterday and almost got slaughtered by SpecsMence (my team is somewhat slow). Shit, I almost wish that I HAD a tutor temporarily just to help my team builder's block.

On a more serious note, Garchomp is still threatening, but the vast majority still use Scarf as I've seen. Wierd how Deoxys-S is unbanned yet rarely used (I just don't plain use him since I plan for Wi-Fi teams anyways). I'm thinking I'm sort of inspired to do that lead guide again, since I know a little bit more after some experimentation. Lead-wise, we have this:
Code:
[LIST=1]
[*]Gyarados (13090 leads)
[*]Gengar (12669 leads)
[*]Bronzong (11696 leads)
[*]Tyranitar (10024 leads)
[*]Salamence (9885 leads)
[*]Hippowdon (8437 leads)
[*]Ninjask (6880 leads)
[*]Yanmega (6196 leads)
[*]Abomasnow (6103 leads)

[*]Ambipom (4619 leads)
[*]Swampert (4509 leads)
[*]Azelf (4370 leads)
[*]Forretress (4112 leads)
[/LIST]So looking at this, it's pretty nuts. Gyarados still has his throne, but GENGAR has jumped dramatically from fifth to second. The uprising on Roserade is a wierd impact too (and now that I think about it, the vast majority use an illegal set: Spikes + Sleep Powder). Starmie finally went down (37) so at least some people think now. I'm actually suprised what went in slot 21 and 22: Zapdos and Togekiss. I'm guessing Zapdos was Rain Dance and Togekiss for Plotpassing.

I'll list the top 100 for the Weighted usage too, so you get a clear thought of it:

[/LIST]Anyways, taking a look at this from December, it is true: Garchomp usage is more than Blissey usage. Cresselia usage has gone down A lot. It went from number 9 (December) to 17 (January). I guess that's not a huge gap, but still a decent one since it was extremely popular. Even though the statistics don't show it, I know for a fact that Rain Dance popularity has come up dramatically (Kingdra is #48 however and Ludicolo is #66) but the number of RMTs that have Rain Dance in them is enough to consider it. Stall's still kind of popular, but it has gone down slightly (a lot of Obi copy teams with just a member replacement is always hard to face if the player uses it correctly).

Ah well, my two and a half cents right there.

Bah, the thing was I tried without Blissey yesterday and almost got slaughtered by SpecsMence (my team is somewhat slow). Shit, I almost wish that I HAD a tutor temporarily just to help my team builder's block.
The uprising on Roserade is a wierd impact too (and now that I think about it, the vast majority use an illegal set: Spikes + Sleep Powder).

I thought illegal sets were allowed only in Unrated matches?

As predicted by many on the boards, Lucario's usage has risen a lot, he's now #6 on the Weighted and Unweighted usage. He finally got the credit he deserved.

Fuck yea, Lucario is IMO one of the most dangerous threats on teams I end up building, which is why I began using it. It can run LO SD, SubSD, BulkySD, Specs (which really fucking hurts), and even the rare CM. It is way too versatile to not have had such great usage in the past.

The one main thing that surprised and bugged me was that Slowbro was used less than both Milotic and Empoleon. I've found in the past that Slowbro is much better both defensively and offensively (with CM) than both Milo and el penguino.

Garchomp makes me want to hack Heatproof onto Skarmory. :toast:

The uprising on Roserade is a wierd impact too (and now that I think about it, the vast majority use an illegal set: Spikes + Sleep Powder).

Well, that's not entirely true in my experience. Most people realize that Spikes/Sleep Powder is an illegal set, so they use Toxic Spikes instead of Spikes to compensate.

Nov -> Dec -> Jan (Raikou usage)

81 -> 73 -> 63 (unweighted)
79 -> 72 -> 62 (weighted)

It's working! Now if only there was some way to maintain this momentum...it's on pace to crack OU by March lol.

Well, that's not entirely true in my experience. Most people realize that Spikes/Sleep Powder is an illegal set, so they use Toxic Spikes instead of Spikes to compensate.
True, but then you get the random idiots that think Nasty Plot + Hypnosis is legal on a Crobat. It's true that most people usually realize what they're doing and do minor slip-ups, but when it's obvious (like Belly Drum + Aqua Jet Azumarril) then it just annoys me.

Hitmontop is #72,the higher position of the Hitmons.Cool!!!!
My first team created in D/P has Top with priority abuser(Pursuit and Bulk Up over CC and Fake Out of Aldaron's one.Yes,that was WAY before he created the priority abuser)
Mesprit is only the #83,Claydol is more used than him.WTF?
