UU Jellicent [QC 2/2] [GP 1/1]

:jellicent:

[SET]
name: Defensive Utility
move 1: Hex
move 2: Will-O-Wisp
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Recover
item: Leftovers / Colbur Berry
ability: Water Absorb
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Jellicent's excellent defensive typing along with access to utility moves such as Taunt and Will-O-Wisp makes it a good defensive Pokemon, checking threats such as Swords Dance Lucario, Cobalion, and Golisopod. Water Absorb further assists Jellicent with checking Water-types such as Inteleon. Scald is an option over Hex to threaten Incineroar, but Jellicent will have a harder time beating bulkier Pokemon such as Milotic. Will-O-Wisp prevents Jellicent from being vulnerable to physical attackers such as Escavalier. Taunt prevents slower Pokemon such as Vaporeon from recovering freely, allowing Jellicent to break them with Hex. The Speed EVs provided allow Jellicent to outspeed uninvested Mantine. Colbur Berry is an alternate option for an item to reduce Knock Off damage while also assisting against Pokemon such as Drapion and Machamp, allowing Jellicent to get off a Will-O-Wisp against the former and a Hex on the latter.

Incineroar is a great partner, as it can check Pokemon such as Celebi and Chandelure that threaten Jellicent while bringing it in via Parting Shot against Water-types and Galarian Weezing. In exchange, Jellicent can wear down bulky Water-types. If Jellicent is not running Colbur Berry, Dark-type checks such as Cobalion and Galarian Weezing are helpful for their ability to switch into Knock Off. Jellicent is vulnerable to Doublade and Chandelure, as, unlike other bulky Water-types, it cannot reliably switch into them. Due to this, teammates such as Umbreon, Gigalith, and Incineroar are vital. Gigalith can also check Taunt Noivern. Heliolisk is extremely annoying for Jellicent, as it is immune to Hex and doesn't mind being burned by Will-O-Wisp. Due to this, partners that can deal with Heliolisk are essential. Flygon can check Heliolisk and Haxorus while bringing Jellicent in against Water-types, while Noivern can threaten Heliolisk out, checks Grass-types, and appreciates Jellicent wearing down bulky Water-types, Gigalith, and Rhyperior. Escavalier checks Celebi and Roserade and appreciates Water-types being worn down.

Jellicent's excellent defensive typing along with access to utility moves such as Taunt and Will-O-Wisp make it a good defensive Pokemon, checking threats such as Cobalion and Araquanid also SD lucario!. Water Absorb further assists Jellicent with checking Water-types such as Inteleon and Golisopod. I'd mention any downsides it has over other Bulky waters in this section too, ie. that it isn't capable of checking Chandelure, and very poor versus Doublade. Will-O-Wisp prevents Jellicent from being vulnerable to physical attackers such as Escavalier and Swords Dance Lucario. Taunt prevents slower Pokemon such as Mantine and Vaporeon from recovering freely. The speed provided allows Jellicent to outspeed uninvested Mantine. Should bring up also why you'd run Colbur, letting you for instance take a Knock from Machamp to Hex it.

Personally, i would give a brief mention to running 216 speed so that you can outspeed Machamp, which really improves your matchup versus it especially if not running Colbur, while letting u outspeed milotic too, and briefly mention its downsides in obviously having less bulk to work with.

I would also include a mention of Scald, which lets you be much less fodder towards Incineroar and prevents you giving flash fire to Chandelure, while still spreading Burns to use with Hex semi reliably, and Toxic which lets you punish switch ins like Incineroar / Taunt Noivern.

Incineroar is a great partner for Jellicent, as it can check Grass- and Ghost-types that threaten Jellicent I'd like to see a more specific nod to Chandelure here personally, probably be more specific with the Grass types you talk about too as Incin can't check Roserade well and Mowtom just Volts on u, while bringing it in via Parting Shot give a few examples potentially, ie. Milotic and Gigalith. In exchange, Jellicent can wear down bulky Water-types for Incineroar. If Jellicent is not running Colbur Berry, Dark-type checks such as Cobalion and Galarian Weezing are helpful bit more detail here would probably help, ie. that they can switch into Knock Off from Incineroar, Coba can help to check Mamo / cripple Noivern with twave for Jelli, Weezy can spread Toxic around to help Jelli pressure teams with Taunt etc. Jellicent is vulnerable to Pokemon who can overwhelm it, such as Sirfetch'd and Necrozma. Pokemon such as Gardevoir and Celebi who can check physical attackers capable of overwhelming Jellicent are excellent choices Neither of these check DD or specs Necrozma amazingly due to X-scissor on DD and sheer power / coverage of Specs. You could tie Sirfetch'd into your Weezing Galar mention, and Necrozma into your Incineroar mention however if you wanted to specifically talk about these Pokemon. . Heliolisk is extremely annoying to Jellicent, as it is immune to Hex and doesn't mind being burned by Will-O-Wisp. Due to this, partners who can deal with Heliolisk are essential. Flygon can check Heliolisk while bringing Jellicent in against Water-types, provides a check to DD Hax too, which can set up freely on Jellicent if its holding a Lum berry while Noivern can threaten Heliolisk out and appreciates Jellicent wearing down bulky Water-types. can also pivot, and help to offensively check some Jellicent checks such as Roserade/Celebi/Machamp

Would give a mention to Escavalier in teammates. Roserade and Celebi is a big problem for Jellicent due to Jelli being unable to touch it. Escavalier can switch into both perfectly, appreciates Jellicent's support against bulky waters and can Knock Off items to further support Jelli. Great type synergy too.

Gigalith is also an excellent teammate to mention for Jellicent, as it can provide a fantastic answer to two of this Jelli's sets biggest problems in Chandelure and Taunt Noivern and SR support.

Jellicent's excellent defensive typing along with access to utility moves such as Taunt and Will-O-Wisp make it a good defensive Pokemon, checking threats such as Swords Dance Lucario and Araquanid and Cobalion, big reason you'd choose Jelli. Water Absorb further assists Jellicent with checking Water-types such as Inteleon and Golisopod. Scald is an option to threaten Incineroar, but has less use compared to Hex Personally would be running Scald + Hex instead of Willo + Hex when doing this, otherwise you really don't touch waters, so the issue is relying on Scald Burns if doing this. Will-O-Wisp prevents Jellicent from being vulnerable to physical attackers such as Escavalier. Taunt prevents slower Pokemon such as Mantine and Vaporeon from recovering freely. The speed provided allows Jellicent to outspeed uninvested Mantine. Colbur Berry is an alternate option for an item to reduce Knock Off damage, while also assisting against Pokemon such as Drapion and Machamp.

Jellicent is vulnerable to Doublade and Chandelure, as unlike other bulky Water-types, it cannot switch into them reliably. Due to this, teammates such as Umbreon and the aforemnetioned Incineroar are vital. Heliolisk is extremely annoying to Jellicent, as it is immune to Hex and doesn't mind being burned by Will-O-Wisp. Due to this, partners who can deal with Heliolisk are essential. Flygon can check Heliolisk and Haxorus while bringing Jellicent in against Water-types, while Noivern can threaten Heliolisk out and appreciates Jellicent wearing down bulky Water-types and threatens Celebi/Roserade for Jelli.

I would still like the Escavalier mention to be added, as Celebi/Roserade are huge issues for Jellicent, Knock also supports Jelli in dealing with water's for Esca.

Would also like Gigalith mentioned, due to handling Taunt Noivern, you could fit it into the Chandy point probably.

Jellicent's excellent defensive typing along with access to utility moves such as Taunt and Will-O-Wisp make it a good defensive Pokemon, checking threats such as Swords Dance Lucario, Cobalion, and Araquanid. You don't really beat Araquanid that reliably especially if you are trying to switch into a Sub variant. I would just use Goli instead. Water Absorb further assists Jellicent with checking Water-types such as Inteleon and Golisopod. To avoid repetition remove this or just swap it for another Water Scald is an option to threaten Incineroar, but has less use compared to Hex and is reliant on burns. I would say it makes its matchup at beating bulkier Mons like the water-types significantly worse than it having less use compared to hex. Will-O-Wisp prevents Jellicent from being vulnerable to physical attackers such as Escavalier. Taunt prevents slower Pokemon such as Mantine and Vaporeon from recovering freely allowing it to break them with Hex. The speed provided allows Jellicent to outspeed uninvested Mantine. Colbur Berry is an alternate option for an item to reduce Knock Off damage, while also assisting against Pokemon such as Drapion and Machamp. I'd mention how it helps get a Wisp off against the former and Hex the latter.
