Can't believe people are recommending MKWii! It's so terrible compared to Double Dash!
Also; Definitely get a GC remote if you can, it makes some games much better. Mario Strikers Charged Football is pretty good too (if you can get over how much the AI cheats). It also works with most of the N64 VC games as opposed to getting a Classic Controller.
Trauma Center games are also pretty good... I was genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed Second Opinion. Brawl (And Melee) , Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime are all staples...
