Kangaskhan

I don't know which support set you are talking about, but RestTalk with S-Toss and Crunch can beat any Ghost-type.

One could forgo protect for crunch I suppose to nail said ghosts giving it just enough ivs to guarantee a ko on gengar but eh, protect gives it much needed survivability.

Seismic Toss is still a perfectly valid option on an attacking set over the PuP/Fake Out slot. I don't see any reason to restrict it to mere support sets. I've tried a Jolly Return/Seismic Toss/Crunch/Sucker Punch offensive set, and I didn't really miss having PuP all that much.

The big roadblock with it is that Scrappy Seismic Toss Kangaskhan is a real pain to get on wifi due to needing an Ability Capsule, a game from every gen from 3rd til 6th, and Pokebank on top of it. Still, the biggest reason to run Scrappy on Kangaskhan was to PuP for a boost against ghosts, so if you're replacing PuP with Seismic Toss, the loss of Scrappy honestly isn't that big a deal.

Just made an account here. First post after lots of lurking. I wanted to tell you guys that I have found a pretty sweet set for this guy that not a lot of people talk about.

Kangaskhan
@Kangaskanite 252Att 252spe, Jolly
Power-Up Punch
Drain Punch
Sucker Punch
Return

Drain Punch makes him an absolute beast.

Running Power-Up and Drain Punch? That seems a little redundant coverage-wise. If you're going to run Drain Punch I would recommend replacing Power-Up Punch with Earthquake or Fake Out. Your current moveset seems like it's trying to do too much IMO.
(on a more positive note, however, I like the concept; I'll try Drain Punch out!)

Such a set is unfortunately hard countered by any defensively orientated Ghost-type. Giratina/-O or Ghost Arceus could simply burn it and stall out the damage with non-attacking moves and Aegislash could accomplish the same with Toxic.

Just a thought, but has anyone experimented with running Crunch? Despite its coverage redundancy with Sucker Punch, it would allow Kanga to potentially muscle through Arceus-ghost's Recovers (252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Crunch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Arceus-Ghost: 240-285 (54 - 64.1%)) and it stops Mega Gengar from setting up a sub against you. Also, if you happen to go up against it, Bronzong would no longer be able to set hazards/Toxic with impunity. A hypothetical set of Return/Sucker Punch/Crunch/Earthquake could be decent. Just a thought.

[EDIT]: Disregard the comment about Mega Gengar, I forgot it didn't have Levitate and consequently could be damaged by Earthquake.

Crunch is still nice if you need a Ghost lure, MKhan draws them in so easily. Klefki isn't really a good Kanga switch anyway since Return 2HKOes after a teeny bit of prior damage (1 layer of Spikes will do it).

If Mega Kangaskhan gets Knock Off, would it be superior? I'm not sure if Knock Off still gets a power increase against pokemon with an item that can't be removed. If it does, the only pokemon it loses out against are other Mega Evolutions. If not, it misses power against Arceus forms and Giratina-O.

Megakhan doesn't get Knock Off.

Mega Kangakhan might be nerfed, what nerf do you think she could have and would it make her no longer uber?

Masuda said that Mega Kangakhan may be nerfed.

Even then we don't know how much it will be nerfed. Will it be like first hit 75% of the normal damage and second hit 50%. First hit 100% damage and second hit 25%. It does bring up an interesting point whether Mega Kangaskhan will still be Uber viable or not but we don't really know enough to discuss it.

Power-up Punch really only works on Sticky Web, which is believed to be a massive gimmick itself. The extra coverage alongside Fake Out and Return / Frustration is usually better.

To be fair, PuP kanga would be deadly with goth support since the only real answer to kanga are support arceus forms (and stalltwo to some extent). And goth does a pretty nice job of removing kangas specific answers since kanga is relatively hard to revenge due to sucker punch being a bitch, and it has a pretty solid speed tier. I suppose the biggest draw back to running pup would be forgoing fake out which is pretty huge since fake out let's it pseudo check faster threats such as blaze and xerneas after a geomancy and also to provide an additional turn of residual damage. Overall I can see pup kanga working with goth support and not outright unviable as some claim. Shrug

One of the problems is that even without Fake Out you can't fit all the moves you want. Power-up-Punch and Return are obvious, and without webs you'll probably want Sucker Punch to avoid being revenged by everything (eg Scarf Kyogre). Now you'll have to choose between running Crunch (and not being able to hit Steel types hard) and Earthquake (leaving you helpless against any Ghost, including Arceus-Ghost who you can't trap with Gothitelle).

Also, while +2 Sucker Punch is very strong, it doesn't exactly sweep teams either.
+2 252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Zekrom: 217-256 (63.6 - 75%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Isn't PuP pretty hard to pull off as well? I mean, the only time that would be wise to use it is when the opposing 'mon is at extremely low health due to how weak PuP is. I would still go Fake Out/Return or Frustration/EQ/Sucker. Lack of crunch sometimes hurts though.
