Overview
########

  • Still one of the most initially threatening special attackers in the tier.
  • 129 Special Attack is taken to great advantage thanks to Keldeo´s high powered and utility STABs.
  • One of these STABs, Secret Sword, lets it bypass Chansey and Blissey, the supposed bane of all special attackers.
  • All around great offensive and defensive typing, giving him a resistance to Stealth Rock and good neutral coverage.
  • Coupled with excelent 108 base Speed and good bulk for an offensive pokemon, Keldeo is a nightmare to face for almost all playstyles, specially offense.
  • Introduction of the Fairy type, and more importantly, the huge amount of Ghost types lurking in the tier, make Keldeo´s Fighting STAB harder to spam.
  • The 108 speed tier just isn´t as impressive as last generation with new pokemon such as Greninja or Mega Lucario.
  • Pretty predictable.
  • Still a great wallbreaker due to the sheer strength it posseses, and even a sweeper.

Moves
========

  • This set is designed specifically for wallbreaking.
  • Hydro Pump, while relatively unreliable, is the most spammable move, due to an astounding damage output. Just as an example, Specs Hydro Pump scores at a clean 2HKO on Aegislash in Shield Stance through King´s Shield and Leftovers without the need of Stealth Rocks.
  • Secret Sword, while admitedly less useful this gen than last one due to the abundance of Ghost-types, is a move that roaringly screws up a lot of defensive cores.
  • Scald is generally superior to Surf as a secondary Water STAB in case risking Hydro Pump isn´t necessary, since the damage difference isn´t that noticeable in comparison to the residual damage Scald often generates, and limits the amount of switch-ins Keldeo´s checks and counters can take before getting worn down quickly.
  • Icy Wind laughs at dragons attempting to switch in, specially the Lati twins.
  • Hidden Power Ghost can work in the last slot to hit more reliably some Ghost such as Jellicent or Trevenant, but is a horrible move to lock yourself into in almost all ocasions.

Set Details
========

  • Choice Specs grants Keldeo the power to almost the entire metagame with the correct move.
  • A Modest nature is not reccomended due to the importance of the 108 Speed tier, one of Keldeo´s bigges selling points.
  • 4 SpD EVs give Genesect the Attack boost, leaving no variants able to OHKO him, bar Choice Banded Explosion.

Usage Tips
========

  • Early and mid game is the best moment to abuse the raw power offered by this set, since Keldeo often ends up shattering the defensive backbone of most offensive teams, giving ease to possible sweeps of partners.
  • Keldeo's STABs are the moves you'll be using most of the time, due to sheer damage output, it's the best way to plow through teams. Scald should be also taken advantage of as much as possible to weaken opposing checks much more easily, for example, Rotom-W, a common switch-in, gets worn down fast burned, giving more leeway to spam Hydro Pump.
  • The coverage move of choice should be used in a heavily offensive way, since most teams dont have reliable counters, some switch ins can be played aggresively.
Team Options
========

  • Pokemon that take advantage of the holes opened by Keldeo to end up sweeping are reccomended as partners, such as Mega Pinsir and Dragonite, Mega Lucario deserves a special mention since both variants greatly appreciate Keldeo's help since Secret Sword allows the latter to be a pseudo mixed attacker.
  • As with any wallbreaker, hazards are greatly appreciated to wear down incoming pokes.
  • Anything that can handle the counters to this set, such as Amoonguss, Celebi or Jellicent, helps Keldeo in turn, Pusuit-trappers such as Choice Band Tyranitar or even Bisharp help a lot against most of the counters to this set.

Ill finish this l8er, which means tomorrow.

Note: on the only set i finshed til now, i wanted QC to tell me if HP Ghost is worth the slash for Icy Wind, or if i should mention Sleep Talk.

I think taunt is an interesting option on Keldeo, now relevant to stop defoggers. LAtias is very good against keldeo, and icy wind doesnt have the power to beat it, making you defog bait. With icy wind on the switch, followed by taunt you can stop it from defogging, it only real niche. MAndibuzz is also incredibly bulky and would probably seek to defog against keldeo. This is for hte all out attacker set.

Also, imo HP electric is the best HP for keldeo, it hits azumarill for decent damage, who walls you otherwise, and it also beats the hell out of gyarados. It's just as good as hp ghost against jellicent, and icy wind is basically better against latias/latios now. You miss celebi, but again icy wind is nearly as good as hp ghost. HP bug is really only there as a niche attack against celebi and latis, but it's now really not going to be better against the latis, and hitting celebi while being walled by azumarill, jellicent, and gyarados sucks.

When I picked Keldeo in the simulator, I saw substitute as a suggested move. It makes sense though, as it forces switches rather easily, has decent speed, and is frail enough to greatly benefit from the shield. It also can abuse subs when calm mind boosting, allowing it to muscle past Pokemon like Tentacruel, Slowbro, and Gastrodon which would have otherwise walled it, or simply set itself up for a sweep.
