so hey guys! I tried to play on UU now, and honestly, I think this is more competitive than OU and Ubers, and I really liking it now, so I built a team, my playstyle still pretty much loosely based on how I play on OU. I've tried more specialized team before, like offense team, but I got screwed quickly, somehow it keeps placing me on a bad foot. With balanced team, at least I have options left, so I like placing few precautions here and there.
The Powerhouses:
Blastoise-Mega @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Mega Launcher
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Dark Pulse
- Aura Sphere
- Rapid Spin
apparently, hazards are a thing, So I decide to pick a remover as a first.
I choose M.blastoise is because while it can do the job done, it also can do other thing, like attacking.
Scald, dark pulse and aura sphere is chosen because it gives me pretty much neutral coverage over everything, I may replace ice beam or dragon pulse, but with so many threats that exists I pretty much can't decide.
Other options using defog users usually put me into building a defensive team that will just break sooner or later.
Dangerous Threats so far : Toxicroak
Druddigon @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 236 HP / 96 Atk / 156 Def / 20 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Glare
- Dragon Claw
- Gunk Shot
I need something to set rocks on my own, of course, I also like my pokemon multi-talents. So I tossed Gligar for this.
Glare is such a good moves so far, usually thunder wave get blocked by ground pokemons, and stun spore from whimsicott can miss (can even blocked by grasses too). Toxic from Gligar also useless against steels.
Druddigon is not so tanky, that's his weakness. Especially with no recoveries whatsoever.
So I use it usually only for lead, otherwise just to use it to abuse contact moves to chip sweepers.
Dragon claw is for STAB, gunk shot is just a filler, I guess, not really using it often, maybe to punish expected fairies switch-in.
The supports:
Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 52 Def / 208 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunder Wave
I play it like I play Rotom-W on OU, overheat is like hydro pump, volt switch to pivot around, will-o-wisp and thunder wave is to cripple things. I really don't like pain split, because I found that I will not live too long to use it often, and I feel like it doesn't really much impact, compared to well placed paralyze/burns. Not to mention if my opponent guess I only have one status moves.
Other options would be adding reflect/light screen over the stats, but then again I found little opportunity to use it, especially without light clay it would be not so effective.
Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect
I put this pokemon in protect category, but seriously, sylveon hits so hard it sometimes sweep. I somehow use heal bell more often than healing, again, because it's hard to find the opportunity, but sometimes it's there, and because my team are so prone to chip damage, wish healing is very important to me.
I build my EVs offensively instead of defensively, because sometimes I found my sylveon to be in boxing matches against other sylveons or because I just need those dragons to die so bad.
The carries, oopes, I mean the Sweepers:
Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Vacuum Wave
- Aura Sphere
- Flash Cannon
I need something to deal with sylveons, so it's about cobalion/lucario. While Cobalion is faster, bulkier, Skywalker has no fear with burns because it's specially based. It also gives my opponent's brain something to guess. But unfortunately there's a lot of special tank in UU right now, like tentacruel. The set is standard, I just can't find anything to replace, well maybe it's just that everything is essential, nasty plot for actual damage, vacuum wave to mitigate lucarios' pitiful speed, aura sphere and flash cannon for pure damage. Oh, I hate inaccuracies. But then without focus blast, something might die instead of will not die....
Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
last slot was previously filled with salamence, with with salamence ban, I have to be creative,
I need something equally bulky, something equally powerful, something that can dance. Too bad hydreigon can't dance.
Lack of STAB can be underwhelming, but I have no need to worry about recoil. DD/waterfall set is standard I guess, now I have the option of adding aqua jet somewhere, but then I will lose important coverages by doing so.
so that's it guys, feel free to rate!
