[SET COMMENTS]
Kingler works both as a fierce wallbreaker and a threatening late-game cleaner. Swords Dance boosts Kingler's power to ridiculous levels, enabling it to 2HKO or OHKO the entire tier. Knock Off is used to hit Water-immune Pokemon such as Jellicent, Vaporeon, and Gastrodon. It also cripples other switch-ins such as Vileplume and Ferroseed by removing their held items. Agility is used for late-game cleaning when the opposing team is weakened to a point where everything drops to the combination of Liquidation and Knock Off. Kingler is faster than every common Choice Scarf user after an Agility, with the only exception being the rarer Choice Scarf Salazzle. Life Orb is used to power up Kingler and takes advantage of Sheer Force negating the recoil when Liquidation is used. A Jolly nature is used so unboosted Kingler can outspeed Pokemon such as Decidueye, Frosmoth, and Drednaw.
Kingler struggles with Grass-types when unboosted, and thus Salazzle, Braviary, and Drampa makes for great teammates. Grass- and Ground-types such as Rotom-C, Steelix, and Vileplume are able to take on Electric-type attacks thrown at Kingler. Stealth Rock setters such as Steelix, Duraludon, and Rhydon are appreciated to secure important targets such as the 2HKO on Virizion. Similarly, Spikers such as Garbodor, Ferroseed, and Coalossal are appreciated for whittling down bulky Grass- and Water-types such as Vileplume and Vaporeon. Pokemon such as Salazzle, Charizard, and Rhydon appreciates Kingler breaking bulky Water-types such as Vaporeon, Jellicent, and Gastrodon. However, a potential Scald burn would be catastrophic for Kingler, so more reliable Water-type answers such as Virizion, Rotom-C, and Toxicroak are greatly appreciated. Pokemon that can check Toxicroak such as Sableye, Indeedee-M, and Passimian are needed, as it is immune to Liquidation and resists Knock Off. Aurora Veil support from Vanilluxe can patch up Kingler's pitiful Special Defense to give it more setup opportunities while also making it harder to revenge kill Kingler. Despite being a Water-type, Kingler is not a reliable answer to Fire-types such as Salazzle and Charizard due to its poor special bulk and lower Speed. Drampa, Rhydon, and Snorlax are able to take on the Fire-types Kingler struggle to check. Kingler's poor special bulk also makes it difficult to safely switch it in. Thus, VoltTurn partners such as Alolan Raichu, Passimian, and Braviary are able to safely switch in Kingler against favorable matchups. Sticky Web support from Vikavolt and Galvantula can be used to ease the need for Agility to sweep, as under Sticky Web Kingler outspeed a lot of the tier.
