[OVERVIEW]
- Mono Poison typing with the complementing Levitate ability leaves Koffing with only one real weakness and useful resistances.
- Great physical defense stat that allows Koffing to be a nuisance to most Fighting and Poison types.
- Wide movepool leaving it with plenty of coverage and support options.
- Shabby attacking stats leaving it not much of an offensive presence.
- Mediocre HP and bad Special Defense means it often can't hold it's own against special attackers.
- Low speed and is fairly reliant on it's Eviolite being present.

Moves
========
-Will-O-Wisp helps cripple physical threats and the damage over time is almost always helpful
-Pain Split is Koffing's only way to regain HP back. It's not the most reliable method but it's capabilities of healing Koffing and damaging the opponent in the right situations can prove quite useful.
-Sludge Bomb is your STAB move of choice due to it's damaging capabilities and it's nice 30% chance to poison.
-Clear Smog is a weaker move than Sludge Bomb but can be used if you fear getting set up on, but keep in mind that it doesn't remove boosts through Substitute.
-Fire Blast is your offensive coverage move of choice to dent the Steel types like Magnemite and Ferroseed that don't fear your Poison moves.
-Toxic Spikes isn't a common move in LC and Koffing is one of the most reliable setters of it. This move spreads poison through the enemy team upon entry and can work very well on more defensive or balanced teams. Just think about what Koffing wants to particularly burn instead of poison.
Set Details
========
-EV's are focused on defenses to get the maximum bulk possible from Eviolite while maintaining low HP to make Pain Split more impactful.
-A Bold nature is preferred to further bolster Koffing's strong physical defense and hit an Eviolite number.
-Levitate is Koffing's only ability. It makes it so that Koffing is immune to Ground type moves, leaving it effectively only one real weakness. Of course Mold Breaker negates this effect so be careful.
Usage Tips
========
-Due to Koffing's strong physical defense and useful resistances he can come in on most Bug, Fighting, Poison and Fairy types without fear. Examples of this include Snubbull and Mienfoo.
-Due to Koffing's slow speed you have to anticipate when you will hit low HP so you can get the maximum out of Pain Split in a single use.
-Be careful with Will-O-Wisp around Guts and Flash Fire users.
-Avoid getting your Eviolite knocked off unless absolutely necessary since it takes away lots of Koffing's bulk.
-Be careful around special attacks since they can prey on Koffing's weaker SpD.
-Try to lure in Steel types like Ferroseed to then deliver a nasty blow with Fire Blast.
-Toxic Spikes can be super useful for gradually wearing down the enemy. Just make sure you have burns on the Pokemon you want to have burned before you try to spread your poison.
-Opposing Rapid Spinners, Defoggers or grounded Poison types can easily remove your Toxic Spikes so try to remove them from the game as soon as possible.
Team Options
========
-Dark types like Pawniard and Alolan-Grimer can deal with the Psychic-moves directed at Koffing and Pursuit trap them.
-Fighting-weak Pokemon like Ferroseed appreciate Koffing's ability to deal with Fighting types.
-Spritzee can provide valuable Wish support and it appreciates Koffing being able to handle opposing Poison types.
-Ghost types to also deal with Psychic types and they help preventing the opponent from spinning.
-Diglett can trap opposing Fire types that give Koffing trouble. Also removing Poison types allows Toxic Spikes to stay on the field.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
-Toxic has a 100% accuaracy on Koffing but spreading burn or poisoning with Toxic Spikes often proves more effective
-Thunderbolt can be used to deal with Flying and Water types better but it isn't too strong and often won't fight a spot in Koffing's moveset due to it having access to Fire Blast which covers more.
-Destiny Bond is useful to force a sweeper out or potentially take it with you. Sadly Koffing is very slow so it requires a lot of prediction.
-Berry Juice could be used instead of Eviolite but it makes Pain Split less reliable and takes away a huge portion of Koffing's bulk.
-Taunt would be a solid option if Koffing wasn't one of the slowest Pokemon in the tier. Still it can be a solid option to stop opposing Pokemon to stop recovering their health or set hazards.
-Flamethrower has more PP and is more accurate but weaker compared to Fire Blast. The power boost is very notable on Fire Blast so often that move will be used over Flamethrower.
-Memento can be super useful to give a set up sweeper that you have in the back a solid opportunity to boost themselves with little risk. But Alolan Grimer does a better job at this.
Checks and Counters
===================
Psychic-types: Psychic-types can OHKO Koffing with a super effective STAB Psychic. Abra outspeeds Koffing, while Slowpoke takes little from any of Koffing's attacks.
Drilbur: Drilbur resist's Koffing's STAB Poison-type attacks, can use Rapid Spin to remove Toxic Spikes, and can OHKO Koffing through Levitate with STAB super effective Mold Breaker Earthquake.
Rock-types: Rock-types resist both Poison- and Fire-type attacks. Onix can Taunt Koffing, effectively rendering it useless, but must be wary of switching in on Will-o-Wisp. Omanyte can set up Shell Smash on any set not carrying Thunderbolt.
Water/Poison types: Both Mareanie and Tentacool resist Koffing's common attacks and aren't 2HKOd by Thunderbolt. Furthermore, both can absorb Toxic Spikes.
Flash Fire users: Flash Fire users such as Ponyta can switch in on Will-o-Wisp or Fire Blast and get a boost to their Fire-type attacks.
RestTalk users: Common RestTalk users such as Chinchou and Mudbray take little from any of Koffing's attacks and don't care about being burned.
