Kommo-o @ Kommonium Z
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Clanging Scales
- Flamethrower
- Poison Jab / Close Combat / Stealth Rock
- Protect

A rising star that made respectable showings in the previous Doubles Winter Seasonal and Doubles Ladder Tournament I, the Clanger is known for its ability to be a boosted threat with little loss of momentum. With its signature move Clangorous Soulblaze, Kommo-o can raise all of its stats while dealing major damage to both foes, making it unique among setup sweepers in being able to boost without having to stop attacking. Kommo-o can quickly become an imposing threat, as teams often have difficulty taking boosted Clanging Scales, also a spread move, while at the same time taking it out through its raised defenses. It is recommended to pair Kommo-o with teammates that can trap and pivot like Mega Gengar and Incineroar, respectively, as it is a devastating recipient of great positioning. Kommo-o is quite one-dimensional, however, as it is reliant on getting the boosts from its Z-move to actually be much of a threat and only has one chance to sweep. Even worse, it is preyed on by the many Fairy-types in the tier, including the omnipresent Tapu Fini, whose Misty Terrain also makes Kommo-o significantly weaker, making another Island Guardian practically required as a teammate to override it.

Somewhat nitpicky, but the last sentence reads like Misty Terrain is the only reason Fini checks Kommo-o, maybe instead of saying "as Misty Terrain makes Kommo-o..." use "its Misty Terrain also makes Kommo-o..."

Kommo-o's rise was so closely related to the rise of trapping + pivoting archetypes (Incin + Gene / Gengar + Goth), so it feels remiss to have them go unmentioned, but I know these have to be kept short. I could see throwing it in the second half of that last sentence (Using pivoting and trapping teammates like Incineroar and Mega Gengar, respectively, Kommo-o teams can remove these threats to facilitate a sweep), but that's up to you.

Well done on this, QC 1/1

With its signature move Clangorous Clangblaze Soulblaze, (lol) Kommo-o can raise all of its stats while dealing major damage to both foes, making it unique among setup sweepers in being able to boost without having to pause stop attacking unlike other traditional set-up sweepers. Kommo-o can quickly become an imposing threat, (AC) as teams often have difficulty taking boosted Clanging Scales, also a spread move, while at the same time taking it out through its raised defenses. It is recommended to pair Kommo-o with teammates that can trap and pivot like Mega Gengar and Incineroar, respectively, as it is a devastating recipient of great positioning. Even worse, it is preyed on by the many Fairy-types in the tier, including the omnipresent Tapu Fini, whose Misty Terrain also makes Kommo-o significantly weaker, making having one of Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, and Tapu Bulu as a teammate another island guardian practically required as a teammate to override it.
