OU Krookodile

With the utmost respect for offensive Krookodile, as it was my favourite set for it last gen in RU, is it really deserving of a set? It's called a sweeper in the analysis, but its simply impossible to sweep anything with 92 base Speed and mediocre bulk. Not even Charizard-Y is considered a sweeper, and its faster than croc. So much just outspeeds and OHKOs it that I honestly have trouble coming to think of a situation where I'd use it over something like Bisharp, Terrakion, or Landorus as an all-out attacker. All of these can also set up, are faster/have priority and hit harder.Admittedly Moxie is a nice niche but if you're to slow to abuse the Attack boost, you just won't be able to sweep =/

The bulky set is amazing though

totally agree with cherub the bulky set has a valuable niche, the offensive set is simply a completly mediocre sweeper that is as easly stopped by defensive teams as it is revengekilled by offensive ones moxie + pursuit seems nice, but what exactly does it pursuit trap and even at +1 it is not nearly as dangerous as it would like to be. Honestly it just doesn't got the stats to be dangerous in OU it got mediocre bulk, attacking power and speed and nothing in its movepool that can really make up for this.

Its like the awkward lovechild of Bisharp and Excadrill, that got everything that hinder these Pokemon from sweeping but none of the qualities that make up for this. I would kind of understand a Choice Scarf set with Moxie as it got two very good stabs for late game sweeping with great power and coverage that can potentially used to pursuit trap the latis and even revengekill a variety of threats but i can't really think of a reason to use LO outside of, i absolutly want to abuse Pursuit + Moxie.

It's a complete gimmick. I can't see how that set is competitively effective in the slightest. Against a competent player, that set is doing nothing for you but giving your opponent a laugh.

>gimmick
It can auto win you the game, I'm no verlisify kind of guy. I just aim to improve would be mediocre pokes. It pretty eay to set it up too. Pretty much all of my battle with it I find the opportunity to do so.
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/frost-oumonotype-286722 this replay showcases what happens by trapping a gliscor.
The substitute prevents their scarf/ faster special attacker from killing krookodile and their physical attackers either fail to break the sub or out sped and ohko'd. I don't think you are criticizing how good it is at sweeping but I think you're saying getting it setup is gimmicky and extremely situational. This set appreciates lando support, its not laughable either. Block on their switch can be gg and thats final :S
I really want the community to break out of these mediocre niches for pokes which is why I've been posting so much in these Analysis threads but I guess I'll just give up on this one. Krookodile will just never catch the spotlight

Why no Choice Scarf set? Surely the extra speed, ground STAB and Moxie are enough to differentiate it from Tyranitar in this role. Also, Knock Off > Crunch. Thoughts?

I know i was against offensive krookodile because the analysis kind of sold it as a sweeper, but after a bit of testing one thing i noticed it is very good at is dismantling the standard hyper offense core of deoxys-d, bisharp and aegislash. Its unaffected by Thunder Wave from Deoxys, resists bisharp and aegislashes primary stab moves, and doesnt have to play mindgames with kings shield due to stab earthquake (ohkos 252 hp aegi with no trouble), and obviously also crushes bisharp. Mabye if the analysis could emphasize more that it's a good corebreaker rather than allout sweeper?
