Kyogre @ Salac Berry
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Block
With plenty of viable sets as one of the metagame's top threats, Kyogre can use the surprise factor of Block to sweep through teams the instant it gets in against an unprepared opponent. In contrast to its very powerful Choice item sets or slower bulky Calm Mind sets, Block Kyogre aims to trap Eternatus and win the game on the spot. If Eternatus is lacking Dragon Tail, the game is all but over, as Kyogre can set up to +6 and get a Speed boost to outrun Zekrom and Marshadow, 2 of the biggest threats to a boosted Kyogre. This set struggles heavily against Ferrothorn and Blissey, however, as they simply stall it out. Ho-Oh or Marshadow make great partners to deal with those Pokemon. If the opponent scouts Kyogre's Block with a Zekrom or U-turn Yveltal or simply has Dragon Tail Eternatus, it becomes much harder to use the surprise factor, so other wallbreaking teammates like Galarian Darmanitan or Choice Specs Calyrex-S need to be able to make up for how passive it becomes when its set is revealed too early.
