La Bamba!

Hi, I'm Farfan, and welcome to my RMT!
I really had no idea how to name this thread, but I named it "La Bamba!" because: 1. I'm Mexican. 2. I was listening to this song when I created the thread. 3. When I battle, my pokemons DANCE!!!! kinda dumb title ....
so...

Introduction
I was bored to play with the same team. My old OU team was a rain team, and it was so standard that it got so predictable and boring, so I decided to make a team about Sandstorm weather.
I've already made some Sandstorm test teams, but I'm trying to make this team as good as possible.
This team is somehow similar on a team I built some time ago, since it has 2 same pokemons lol
I'm not a "pro" in competitive battling, but this team has done a wonderful job, I have a win streak of 30+, and lost like 5 times, still I'm posting this team here because I want rates on the team and how could it be better.
Oh, and thanks to Blue_Star for helping me to learn more about teambuilding! You're awesome dude.

Teambuilding

I chose Tyranitar as my Sandstreamer, he's going to set up stealth rocks too, and he's a MixTtar!

Now one of my favorite pokemons, and the phazer: RestTalk Gyarados, he's very bulky!

Something to set up Spikes now, and Skarmory is my Physicall wall. He does great stopping Excadrill and most physicall sweepers.

Now I need a special wall, and Latias seems to do pretty well the job.

Substitute, something to annoy and absorb status, Breloom!

Now a revenge killer, I need something to stop that nasty Volcarona! CS Landorus is a great revenger and he's great in sandstorm

The Team

tyranitars.png

Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers / Chople Berry
Trait: Sandstream
EVs: 252 HP / 180 SAtk / 76 SDef
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam

I have tried a lot of sets for Tyranitar, and this is one of the best I've used. It's a MixTtar! 252 HP / 76 SDef makes him bulky. He sets up the rocks, and Crunch can OHKO or 2OHKO ghost and psychic types. Fire Blast is so useful against steels like Scizor and Ferrothorn, when there's rain, I send Tyranitar in to get Sandstorm, and Fire Blast 'em, it's a OHKO! I think of using Chople Berry instead of Leftovers so he can take non-STAB fighting moves. Ice Beam surprises x4 Ice weakness pokemon, specially Gliscor and Dragonite, when Dragonite's Multiscale is broken it can OHKO. Quiet nature gives Tyranitar's special attacks more power, and he's slow so his weather always go first when both leads are weather leads.

skarmory.png

Skarmory (M) @ Shed Shell
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpA)
- Brave Bird
- Whirlwind
- Roost
- Spikes

Standard Skarmory, what should I say about it? He's the physicall wall of my team, and my Dragons' outrages stopper. He's my first response when I see Excadrill, Haxorus, or any pokemon that I can set up Spikes on it, and then spam roosts and whirlwinds. Brave Bird is there so I can attack! May change Shed Shell for Lefties tough.

latiasu.png

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Refresh / Roar

My special wall, CM Latias is somehow a sweeper too. I usually send her out when I see CM Reuniclus or any special attacker, set up some Calm Minds, and procceed to Dragon Pulse. Recover is for... recover. Refresh is just a gimmick, most people will get annoyed when she sets up, so they will send a Blissey or something, then toxic/paralyze/burn me. I use Refresh, and trololol problem? May use Roar so she can phaze too, and SubCM Jirachi is annoying ugh..

gyaradosw.png

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 208 Def / 52 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Waterfall
- Dragon Tail

He's Gyarados, and he's bulky!!! Intimidate trolls pokemons that have no way to increase their Attack, and he can take special hits too. Waterfall for STAB, and Dragon Tail can hurt and phaze. RestTalk is awesome, when he gets poisoned or something, I recover health and heal my status, then Sleep Talk some waterfalls or dragon tails.

breloomx.png

Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Def / 244 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Spore
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Seed Bomb / Stone Edge

Standard SubSpore Breloom. He is a pain in the ***, and he's my annoyer. Breloom doesn't need some Atk EVs, when his STABed Focus Punches hit very hard. Toxic Orb also gives him inmunity to status, so he is my status absorber too. Seed Bomb receives STAB, but it doens't get as much coverage as Rock/Fighting.

landorus.png

Landorus (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sand Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earthquake
- Stone Miss
- U-Turn

My revenge killer, Landorus w/ Sand Force is amazing in Sand Force, and with a Choice Scarf he can outspeed most things. Earthquake gets STAB, and it's very strong. Stone Edge makes StoneEdge coverage, and HP Ice for revenge killing Gliscor and other things. U-Turn scouts, and can be very useful sometimes.

Threat list
coming soon!

Possible Changes
- CM Reuniclus > Latias
- Dragon Dancer Gyarados, or just another bulky water

Conclusion

I was not trying to ladder with this team, but I checked my ranking in Standard OU with this team and I managed to peak 109. It isn't THAT good, but it's something, and I'm kinda starting with this team, but it has been working pretty good for me
So I'm looking for suggestions, rates, criticism, etc. Thanks!

Hey there.

One major threat to this team is the Rotom-W + Scizor combination. They can continually Volt Switch / U-Turn respectively on your team, and since the only thing that is immune to Volt Switch on your team (Landorus) gets decimated by Hydro Pump it becomes quite hard to win. The only thing that can reliably switch in to Rotom-W consistently is Latias, which can easily be killed by one simple misplay on your part on whether or not Scizor will use U-Turn or Pursuit. To alleviate this weakness, I suggest that you use Hidden Power Fire over Refresh / Roar on Latias. Hidden Power Fire does a minimum of 76% to standard CB Scizor, allowing you to OHKO it after 2 SR switch-ins / 1 SR + Spikes Switch-in. Hidden Power Fire still lets it beat the likes of CM Jirachi and CM Virizion regardless.

I also suggest that you switch your Tyranitar to a specially defensive variant. This will take some pressure off of Latias, and allow you to defeat Latios more easily due to Pursuit. Specs Latios can continually fire off Draco Meteors and damage your team severely, and since Tyranitar does not have Pursuit, Latios can annihilate your team. The new EV Spread for this Tyranitar is 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef with a Careful Nature. The moveset is Rock Slide / Crunch / Pursuit / Stealth Rock. Chople Berry can still be used as an item in order to defeat Reuniclus much more easily. This will also give you another way to defeat Volcarona, as Tyranitar can take a Bug Buzz pretty well.

Overall, solid team. Hope I helped, and good luck!

Hey there,

I think that powerful special attackers who get super effective moves on Latias will be quite difficult for your team to deal with. The best examples I can think of are Trick Room Reuniclus with Shadow Ball and Choice Specs/Life Orb Latios. A good way to help with those weaknesses would be following ShakeItUp's suggestion or swapping Tyranitar's set for a Specially Defensive version, but without Chople Berry it can't handle TR Reun because of Focus Blast (and even then, if it gets lucky and hits twice, it kills you while you can't OHKO back), and without Leftovers it can't really take a lot of Draco Meteors while also taking hazards damage (you have no spinners, so you have to assume that you'll probably face SR every game.) I think that a Specially Defensive version of Swords Dance Scizor could really help your team, preferably over Breloom. Scizor can take Latios' Draco Meteor, Roost off the damage, set up and start beating the opponent's team up, while the best Reuniclus can do is Focus Blast.

Another thing I'd be worried of is Rivalry Haxorus. If it's male, Outrage will kill everything on your team, assuming a Choice Band version. To fix that weakness I'd change Skarmory's gender to Female, as Gyarados can handle Female Rivalry to an extent with its large bulk and Intimidate.

Anyway, here's the Scizor moveset :
Scizor @ Leftovers
Technician
Careful
EVs : 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SpD
-Bullet Punch
-Bug Bite
-Roost
-Swords Dance

Good luck!

Ok this team is doom if your opponent has rotom-w and scizor cause they can volt switch and U-turn you to death. So try a Gliscor over Skarmory and Cm Reniculus over Latias. Now you will be able to check them quite well

By request:

Hi, nice team in general, and good on you for trying something different by using Breloom on a sand team. However, under the sand, Breloom is seriously neutered. Basically the only thing it has going for it now is status immunity, because sand stream means your Toxic Orb is only a Leftovers. I suggest going for a different set: Subseeder Breloom. Focus Punch hits most bulky waters hard enough, and you'll be losing to Gliscor and Celebi regardless. SubSeed also gives Breloom more survivability, and believe it or not, its a better stallbreaker than offensive Breloom, since the only common staller that's immune to leech seed is Ferrothorn, who will never come in.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
Bold
236 Hp/ 252 Def/ 20 Spe
Focus Punch
Spore
Substitute
Leech Seed

As well, I second ShakeItUp's suggestion of using a Specially Defensive Tyranitar. Yeah, you wont like taking two hits from Trick Room Reuniclus, you can still smack Reuniclus hard with Crunch, and since TR Reuniclus has no form of recovery, it'll set someone else up to take it out. Also gives you a better shot at taking out the Latii twins, Starmie and Celebi.

Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Sand Stream
Careful
252 Hp/ 252 SpD/ 4 Atk
Stealth Rock
Crunch
Pursuit
Rock Slide

SubCM Jirachi is a poke that can absolutely wreck your team. Thundurus too can be problematic since you only have one reliable revenge killer for it. A way you can deal with this is to swap out Latias for a Gastrodon. Gastrodon is immune to both electric and water moves, and Psychic wont be doing much either. Gastrodon can respond with Earthquake. Latias' most important role for your team is checking Rotom-W, and Gastrodon does the job better. Gastrodon can also act as a more reliable check to Starmie, since you don't want Tyranitar getting hit by Hydro Pumps in a weather war.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Storm Drain
Sassy
252 Hp/ 252 SpD/ 4 SpA
Scald
Toxic
Earthquake
Recover

This may mean you struggle a bit more against sun teams. So I suggest trying a Specially Defensive Heatran in Gyarados' place. It still functions as a phazer, and gives you a backup check to the Latii twins. Heatran ensures that any Chlorophyll sweeper without a ground move and Volcorona are stopped cold. It also ensures that you don't open up a Scizor weakness. Distributing status helps set up a late game Landorus cleanup, add that to Sand, Stealth Rocks, Spikes, and Leech Seed damage, and your opponent will be worn down pretty quickly. Heatran also completes the Skarmory+Gastrodon+Heatran core.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Flash Fire
Calm
252 Hp/ 252 SpD/ 4 Def
Lava Plume
Toxic
Protect
Roar
