Welcome everyone to the debut of a new project in this community: the Random Battles Ladder Achievements Project!
As we all know, grinding for hours and hours on ladders is one of the favorite activities of the people in this community and it's finally time to have a dedicated project that hopes to create something cool and fun for everyone involved.

Introduction to cycle 2

Last month saw the debut of the LAP and there were a lot of things to reflect on for the long term success of the project. For the upcoming cycle, there aren't going to be real changes in the structure but from now on, the goal is to create challenges that are more "tailor-made" for the current Spotlight format. Since this is the first ever Gen 5 Spotlight, you can expect that we'll find a way to involve something like gems, items, abilities, mechanics and pokemon first introduced in this gen for our challenges. Pokebilities is obviously the distinctive trait of this format, so you already know that abilities will play a big role in each of the three weeks of the LAP.

The important dates for this cycle will be:

- Week 1 of the LAP > October 6-12
- Week 2 of the LAP > October 13-19
- Week 3 of the LAP > October 20-26

As always, if you have any suggestions and feedback to improve the LAP and make it a more fun project, let us know in this thread! Down below, a reminder of how the LAP is articulated and the prizes you can win for completing the challenges.

THE STRUCTURE

Below, you can see a graph that reports the structure of the LAP and the explanation of what is going to happen every week:

Week 1-4
The first month is entirely dedicated to monitor the stabilization of the ladder in order to define the parameters for the Standard Challenges better and to think about possible changes for the Fun Challenges and Side Quests we want to offer.

Week 5
It's the first week of the LAP. From now on, people can submit their results to prove they have cleared the Standard Challenges. This week will also have tailor made Fun Challenges and Side Quests that will change in the next two weeks.

Week 6
It's the second week of the LAP. Standard Challenges are ongoing and there are new Fun Challenges and Side Quests to complete.

Week 7
It's the third week of the LAP. Standard Challenges are ongoing and there are new Fun Challenges and Side Quests to complete.

Week 8
The LAP is over and we announce the winners and the prizes they receive.

THE CHALLENGES

The three main categories of achievements/challenges are:

1) Standard Challenges > they are centered around a classic player activity like climbing the ladder, trying to break some records in the process.

Example of Standard Challenges: reaching a certain rank/elo/gxe/win streak on the ladder

2) Fun Challenges > clearing the Fun Challenges is less about being a ladder fiend and more about playing multiple matches and get lucky enough to find certain pokemon, items, moves or to witness certain rare events in the battles.

Example of Fun Challenges: getting a certain number of kills with a specific pokemon, spotting unique groups of pokemon on the ladder, witnessing an event with very low odds of happening etc.

3) Side Quests > they are bonus challenges so unique that some of them could involve multimedial projects while others might not even occur on the ladder!

Example of Side Quests: Get the most kills of a certain Pokemon on the ladder, win a mini-marathon in the room, be the quickest to win a match with every eevolution

THE PRIZES

As of now, we have thought of the following prizes to give for clearing the challenges:

- The person with the most Standard Challenges won is going to get room prize winner in the Random Battles room for one month. In case of tie, that reward will go to the person who has registered the highest peak elo.

- The people who clear all the Fun Challenges of a specific week will gain a certain amount of tokens to spend to request a room tournament. If no one clears all the challenges, the tokens will go to the person(s) who has gotten the most achievements.

- For the Side Quests, the idea is to have a predetermined set of unique prizes that will be randomly assigned to the winners of the challenges. People won't know these prizes in advance but they will have to wait a bit.

Wooooo lets gooo!!! I'm pumped & can't wait for the first week. I need to start thinking about those challenges to pitch after last months Chien-Pao slaughter.

The second ever Ladder Achievements Project is officially over! I know it wasn't always smooth sailing and there were some problems with a few challenges, but I still want to thank all the people who participated and who hopefully had fun with this cycle :)

Now it's time to reward our winners for each category of the achievements, starting with the Standard Challenges!

:serperior: Standard Challenges :serperior:
After three grueling weeks of laddering, drowsy69 was the only person who completed all the Standard Challenges! His peak of 1544 is also the highest peak we have recorded for this cycle of the LAP, so he wins room prize winner in the randbats room for one month! (But since he is already voice he really doesn't win much...)

:arbok: Fun Challenges :arbok:

Week 1
The Zoroark challenge proved to be too difficult for everyone but drowsy69 was still able to clear 5/6 challenges, so he obtains 2 tour tokens!

Week 2
Even if there is an asterisk on one of his replays - and that's because the host could have explained the conditions better... - Shynii21 gets 3 tour tokens for completing all the challenges!

Week 3
drowsy69 will be quivering with joy after seeing he is once again the winner of a weekly set of Fun Challenges. 2 more tokens for you!

:sandaconda: Side Quests :sandaconda:
Differently from the first cycle, those who follow the LAP and/or are active in the room probably know that the idea for the reward of the Side Quests of this cycle was the possibility to receive badges for your trainer profile in the random battles room. The system is not fully implemented yet but when the time comes, we'll definitely "free" this reward. Here is a summary of the results for the Side Quests of the second LAP cycle:

Week 1
The legendary and mythical hunt sees drowsy69 absolutely decimating the opposition of unaware clodsire, Shynii21 and Inazuma-Fulgur with an absurd total of points! It's so absurd that I stopped counting them because it was clear the first batch of replays he sent me was already enough to win...

Week 2
It was pretty cool to see which pokemon became targets in Hot Tag and once again, drowsy69 was able to get the most target, this time winning by a narrow margin

Week 3
The battle between drowsy69 and Inazuma-Fulgur saw the former triumph once again for the clean sweep of the Side Quests! 1427 is the maximum elo he managed to reach in one week, as you can see in the screenshot down below

Summary of the prizes:

drowsy69 > 4 tour tokens + a lot of badges for your profile
Shynii21 > 3 tour tokens

See you all to the next cycle!
