Courtesy of its Spikes-setting signature move, Ceaseless Edge, Hisuian Samurott is a good lead for hyper offense teams. With Sharpness, Razor Shell is Hisuian Samurott's strongest move, dealing high damage to many opposing leads such as Great Tusk and Glimmora. Surf is an alternative over Razor Shell that trades overall power for the ability to hit Great Tusk's lower Special Defense and avoid activating Glimmora's Toxic Debris. Knock Off allows Hisuian Samurott to make progress against the enemy team by removing items, especially Heavy-Duty Boots, but Taunt is another option that denies opposing entry hazards and prevents Defog. For the last slot, Aqua Jet is useful for finishing off faster leads such as Great Tusk, while Sucker Punch is a stronger but less reliable Aqua Jet alternative. Finally, Encore is useful for locking opposing Pokemon into undesirable moves such as forcing an opposing lead to use Stealth Rock repeatedly, allowing Hisuian Samurott to stack more Spikes with Ceaseless Edge. Focus Sash ensures Hisuian Samurott can take any one hit and set up at least one layer of Spikes. Tera Ghost is the preferred option to block Rapid Spin. However, Tera Water can also be considered to power up Hisuian Samurott's Water-type STAB moves. Sharpness is generally the preferred ability to boost the power of both Ceaseless Edge and Razor Shell. However, if Hisuian Samurott is using Surf instead, Torrent can also be considered for greater power against bulky variants of Great Tusk when at low health.

Hisuian Samurott fits best on hyper offense teams looking for a suicide lead to start the game off with entry hazards. This set is useful, as it virtually guarantees that a layer of Spikes will go up, since Ceaseless Edge is not affected by Taunt. Gholdengo is highly recommended to deny opposing Rapid Spin and Defog. A Stealth Rock setter such as Great Tusk or Sandy Shocks can further supplement the team's hazard pressure. In particular, Sandy Shocks has a strong matchup against Zapdos and Glimmora, while Hisuian Samurott can cover Ting-Lu for Sandy Shocks. A Knock Off user such as Meowscarada, Great Tusk, or Iron Valiant can remove Heavy-Duty Boots from enemy Pokemon to make them vulnerable to Spikes. Powerful sweepers that can take advantage of the hazard pressure Hisuian Samurott creates are good teammates. Such Pokemon include Kingambit, Dragonite, Sneasler, Roaring Moon, and Iron Valiant. These Pokemon all appreciate Spikes support to wear down bulky targets such as Dondozo, Garganacl, and Ting-Lu. Strong wallbreakers such as Ursaluna and Baxcalibur also enjoy Hisuian Samurott's Spikes to make them even harder to wall.

Explain why.

I think it should be mentioned somewhere that what makes this set so useful is that it bascially gurantees a layer of Spikes WILL go up, a massively unprecedented trait in competitive Pokemon, since its immune to Taunt.

Mention how Focus Sash usually allows you to live any one hit and set up a Spike with Ceaseless Edge. Tera Ghost is the preferred option to block Rapid Spin. You can mention Stealth Rock setters, particularly Sandy Shocks, as its often paired with Samurott and complements its Spikes. Sandy Shocks also has a naturally better matchup against Zapdos and Glimmora, while Samurott covers Ting-Lu which can otherwise put full Spikes against Sandy Shocks.

As someone who doesn't play much OU, I can't really tell against which mons Encore is worth a cost. Some examples here would really help me
