SPOILERS! Legends ZA Data Dumps - Adding Info to OP

You forgot the part where Zygarde completes yells THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM
I think its funny how all of Zygarde's forms are just norse mythology and then Mega is just "fuck all that shit I have a big ass gun"

I have my expectations pretty low, but I really want Mega Meganium to be the next big glowup since Charizard got op megas. She's needed this for almost 20 years guys...

I imagine scolopede is gonna change ability after it megas, so you'd wanna protect first in champions.
Depends on how self-sufficient its damage is. If it really needs a free turn to Swords Dance anyway, I could see delaying the Mega during that turn over spending the extra moveslot on Protect.

Assuming that Scolipede-Mega is even offensively oriented. Considering its picked up the colour scheme of its higher-defense pre-evolution, that's not a guarantee.

Complete and utter Yung Dramps victory. Mission accomplished, game of the year. Never doubted since day 1.
When one of the first actual trailers for ZA was posted you posted something like "this looks amazing and I couldn't ask for anything more" and I almost, almost, posted "you don't dare dream of a mega drampa??" and then the megas leaked and I kicked myself for not making the joke when it would have been a wild prediction. :p

From the descriptions mega drampa was one of the megas I was interested in and hoped would stick the landing. If this image is legit it's looking good so far. The other mega currently slated for a team slot is Falinks, so looking forward to seeing that.

full hd footage of drampa mega evolving is now out there btw. Not gonna post it because it has a cringe "watermark" but I don't even really care because he is just so mesmerizing and beautiful. Life is good and just and true.

Eh, not necessarly. Mega Blaziken keeps Speed Boost when mega evolving, I don't see why scolipede can't also keep it.

Considering it gets a lot more armored, it may simply gain massive bulk on evolving, which would encourage a setup oriented gameplan (idk, click sword dance, unga bunga with increased bulk)

IIRC krookodile, galvantula and turtonator were thrown around as DLC megas but I don’t think this was ever from a reliable source.

I don’t think gamefreak care as much about “even” starter trios as the fans do tbh so I doubt we’ll see the others get megas. For all intents and purposes the ZA starters are their own trio now, I don’t think they really view Serperior and co as left out or anything.
No, they typically do care, its just sometimes one of the three gets a thing earlier than the others. Blaziken was an xy bonus and then the others got theres in ORAS, zard got a gigantimax before the dlc gave us blastoise and venusaur, etc. I doubt we'll see anything from hisui anytime soon, so no regional forms for those starters, but megas is a seperate matter.
Eh, I don't think we can reliably extrapolate from these examples. The Hisuian starters already show that GF doesn't feel compelled to give all starters from a gen equal treatment, which is the most recent instance of splitting up starter trios. So even if that was their philosophy for megas back in 2016, it may not hold now.

If for some reason we get to pick from a new starter set in the DLC, then I think we would have a higher likelihood of getting more megas. And if we did, I don't see any reason why it would be serp, typhlosion, and samurott as opposed to serperior, incin, primarina. Otherwise, GF could just as well take a longer term view and balance out trios over the course of the next few Legends games.

They do care about "starter trios" getting largely equal treatment, that said, with Legends games specifically you have to view the mixed-and-matched starter trios not as a mixed trio of starters from other regions, but rather as their own separate proper trios of starters. This applies with both Arceus and Z-A.

Which means that Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott are a formal trio of starters in and of themselves, and their Hisuian final forms, Hisuian Decidueye, Hisuian Typhlosion, and Hisuian Samurott are a trio with each other specifically, as the starter trio of the Hisui region. The same will apply here with Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile, especially with Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar, and Mega Feraligatr, which while a different design type from regional forms, these Megas together are a trio with each other specifically, as the starter trio of Z-A Lumiose City. Hisuian Decidueye/Typhlosion/Samurott and Mega Meganium/Emboar/Feraligatr are individual trios in and of themselves, separate from their regions' original trios of Torterra/Infernape/Empoleon and Chesnaught/Delphox/Greninja which are still trios with one another but serve different roles in the Legends games compared to their original games.

Legends games muddle the waters a little, but you are supposed to take the "mixed" starter trios who function as Arceus and Z-A's formal first partners for the games as their own trios of starters in their own right, unrelated to their original regions and original trios.

So, I can see how the spikes on its arms act as the “teeth” of the lower jaw, but I think I’m really just struggling to get traction on this concept as a whole. What could this idea possibly have been based in? Megas don’t usually go for this wide of a leap.
It feels like a repurposed concept for a Druddigon mega. Red head and red arm spikes? That's a Druddigon thing.
Maybe they felt a more normal mega would look too much like some random fan design? There's a lot of those out there for Feraligatr, and we know they care about that for some reason.

"Crocos & alligators have really big jaws" -> "what if ferligatr had a really big jaw" -> "but that would require a pretty big design shift" -> "a goofy hoody that pretends to be a really big jaw"
