[Overview]
- 106 Base Speed makes it one of fastest pokemon in this metagame.
- 88 Attack/Sp.Attack is decent when it comes to lead sets.
- Unburden is a great ability on Liepard with Fake Out.
- Sucker Punch is good prioity STAB but is predictable.
- 64/50/50 defences are horrible even in NU.
- Dark typing doesn't help it defencively either.
Name: Fake Out Lead
Move 1: Fake Out
Move 2: Sucker Punch/Night Slash
Move 3: Taunt/Encore
Move 4: Thunder Wave/Toxic
Item: Normal Gem/Life Orb
Ability: Unburden
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
EV's: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
- Fake Out + Unburden + Normal Gem works wonders. First Fake Out, using your normakl Gem, then you get your speed doubled!
- Your STAB move depends on preferance. Sucker Punch is for priority, whie Night Slash is for damage and you don't need the opposing pokemon to attack which is an added bonus.
- Taunt is to stop leads setting up hazards but if you want to annoy your opponent you can go with encore, however, it's more gimmick then anything else.
- Your last slot is a filler above anything else but Thunder Wave and Toxic are always good status' to give other pokemon.
- EV's are obvious while the nature comes down to whether you want (more) speed or power.
Name: Nasty Plotter
Move 1: Nasty Plot
Move 2: Shadow Ball/Encore
Move 3: Hidden Power [Fire]/Hidden Power [Fighting]/ Hidden Power [Dark]
Move 4: Grass Knot
Item: Focus Sash/Life Orb
Ability: Limber
Nature: Modest/Timid
EV's: 4 HP/252 Sp.Atk/252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
- 88 Sp.Attack is mediorce before a Nasty Plot.
- No Special STAB at all (outside of Hidden Power Dark).
- Shadow Ball is powerful though.
- Grass Knot can hit the likes of Slowking and Gigalith for decent damage even without a Nasty Plot.
- Both of the Hidden Power's are to hit Steel Types. Fire hits Roselia and Scolipede before they can get hazards up and Fighting hit's a varity of potenial sweepers like Klinklang, Ursaring and Cinccino. It's your choice as to which one you hold in higher prioity. Hidden Power Dark is for all important STAB but it doesn't give you great coverage.
- Focus Sash allows you to get a Nasty Plot without a problem while Life Orb does more damage.
- Swagger + Foul Play is an option if you feel in a trollish mood. It is surprisly good however may not be viable to use often.
- Encore can be annyoing as $h1+ and Grass/Dark coverage isn't bad if yuo want to go along that route.
- Fake Out + Normal Gem + Unburden is a great option to run on the take out set. Using fake uses up the normal gem and unburden doubles Liepards speed for the rest of the game, allowing it to outspeed all non-scarfed pokemon in the metagame (as long as it runs jolly, and even with adament, the power is probably worth it).
- Choice sets could be used to boost Liepards attack and Sp.Attack.
- Return is always an option for a powerful attack, however without STAB it isn't really worth it on Liepard.
- A Prankster set can be used, when prankster is realeased on Liepard...
- Pursuit and Foul Play give Liepard a variety of Dark moves, but it could really do with some more coverage.
[Check and Counters]
- On the lead set Klingklang can switch in and set up sub easily. No Fake Out, usless sucker punch two status moves won't be doing much anything soon.
- Steel types in general when it comes to the lead set.
- Dugtrio is able to switch into the nasty plot set and kill with an earthquake a it outspeeds Liepard easily.
- Cradily can wall both sets easily unless the special set runs HP fighting.
- If a faster pokemon can taunt either set then Liepard is crippled due to it's movepool being limited and being unable to get Stat Boost's respectively.
