Live Charity Event Streaming (May 15th-16th)

I know some of you guys might be aware, but there is an event going on this weekend, where some youtube battlers will stream battles for a day for charity, kind of like the speedgamers.

An announcement of it here:

I think someone should clarify the nature of these battles. It's a slightly different affair on Youtube. You'll see a lot of crossover between tiers, in following the "unwritten rules". A lot of this is the result of pandering for subscribers. The average Youtube viewer is looking for entertainment. I know I'd be entertained seeing a bunch of NUs taking down classic OUs. While I think a lot of the "NO BLISSEY!" stuff is a bit silly, the battles as they are are generally entertaining, and can be quite strategic. If you are even remotely interested in something like this, it will be worth it to check out the event.

I think this event is largely catered towards the Youtube audience. It's a chance to challenge the people they subscribe to, which doesn't normally happen. But I think it might also be fun for people from Smogon. Maybe it's a chance to break out the old DS again; see how you do with a really old team? I know I'm going to try to have a decent team ready (though I haven't played OU in over a year, so I don't know how I'll do).

I you shouldn't expect Smogon Tour levels of strategy, but it's certainly worth checking out.

I don't think this is something we partake in, but watch. Personally, I don't know many details about this, I'm just trying to get people to help out and donate to charity :P

While it's true that it might be different than what you would normally expect from Smogon, I'm sure this will be really freaking fun. Smogon members could even discover new sets to add to their lists or new gimmicks worth to be tested.

Plus, it's for a great cause. Personally, even if I'm playing more on shoddy, I never threw away my DS.

I have seen people (like myself) go and use Gimmick teams and destroy standard OU teams before.

And I would pay 5 dollars to people who do things like this:

I myself would love to participate, but I doubt I will even be close to having my next team ready by then.....
I really don't find videos like that amusing, which is most of the PBR videos I've seen on Youtube. I always wanted PBR but never wanted to pay the 45 bucks for it since I heard it's not really worth it. But either way, I don't see what's so amusing about somebody who actually knows what they're doing beating some scrub that doesn't know a single thing about competitive play, that's like putting a schoolyard bully in the octagon with Royce Gracie, except without being really funny.

People like me find it funny b/c if you ever play the game on wi-fi, those 6 ubers are all you see. People go on there thinking they can rampage everyone else with an all uber team....And it usually works. I have seen 6-7 year olds using nothing but Palkia and Dialga, and the one w/ 2 Mewtwo's is considered "# 1". And it really pipes me up....

It's also nice to see NU Pokemon like Cherrim and Castform aren't forgotten w/ some of these teams, and how creative people get w/ these teams.

PBR is an OK game b/c the very last stadium has some AIs w/ genius teams...And some of the other stadium's have fun rules, as well as the graphics being really good (if you spend a week or 2 watching videos about PBR on Youtube, then actually play the game, there is a large difference). It was heavily critisized for no mini-games, and some of the stadiums are more of a chore to complete.....

So where's is this stream going to happen? I don't see any link anywhere.
Anyway, I'm definitely going to watch this. I find these YouTube battles pretty fun, so why not?

You could consider this post a bump to remind people of this event, I guess.
