name: life orb attacker
move 1: Hydro Pump
move 2: Giga Drain
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Protect
item: Life Orb
ability: Swift Swim
nature: Modest
evs: 252 spa / 252 spe / 4 def
ivs: 29 hp

[Set Comments]
Moves
========
- hpump is a powerful primary stab, and when backed by both rain and life orb can ohko a lot of opposing pokemon
- giga drain is secondary stab coverage allowing ludicolo to beat opposing water types who can otherwise wall it. it is also useful is recuperating the chip damage from life orb
- ice beam is coverage which allows ludicolo to do good damage to opposing dragon and grass types who resist its stab moves
- protect is protect, fuck glen i wont elaborate on this til the end

Set Details
========
- a life orb is used to increase ludicolos damage output, making it a very powerful and very fast special attacker in the rain
- speed is maximized in order to outrun as many threats as possible both in and out of rain
- special attack is maximized in order to hit as hard as possible
- swift swim is used to double ludicolos speed in rain, which is the only archetype you should use ludicolo in
- modest is used to increase ludicolos power, as timid is unneeded thanks to swfit swim + rain
- the hp ivs are used to achieve a life orb number, minimizing life orb recoil and extending ludicolos longevity

Usage Tips
========
- keep in the back until rain is up
- use coverage moves when needed, otherwise just spam hydro pump and watch things die
- protect when needed -> can be useful since most people assume av when they see ludicolo and dont expect protect

Team Options
========
- politoed is a must since it provides rain
- talonflame is a good partner as it can get past opposing grass-types with ease and forms a hard hitting duo with ludicolo
- diancie, landorus, terrakion are good partners as they easily beat opposing flying types (ie, bird) who beats ludicolo. they also beat charizard who can ruin ludis fun by removing the rain. diancie also beats opposing dragons who ludi would otherwise have to rely on ice beam to get past
- things which beat ferro / kyub -> fighting types for both, dragons / fairys for kyub ie terrak, gardevoir and shit, talonfag for ferro

ALSO REMIND SHAIAN / MEMORIC TO MENTION KYUB AND FERRO ON THE ON-SITE DEX

I actually strongly debated adding Fake Out slashed behind Protect, but I decided to scrap it since it's not as beneficial to the set as it is on the AV set. Taking 10% chip damage on Fake Out really sucks, and in particular hurts Ludicolo because it reveals the Life Orb on a Pokemon that isn't normally seen running it, freeing up the opponent to readjust how they plan on playing Ludicolo. I mean, I'm still completely okay with adding it back on, when LO Ludicolo was first being discussed I actually wanted Fake Out slashed behind Protect, provided QC can provide a good enough reason to do so.

energy ball?

shaydit: would be under oo which is on the /primary/ ludicolo analysis. set write-ups don't have ooooos

I expect this to look complete in the write-up anyway but imo we should be more serious with skeletons u_u. It sets a bad standard when we QC checkers ourselves have these kind of skellys #tbhfam

Moves
  • Explain what moves do / what they hit / etc
  • Protect to last slot on the set for uniformity with other analysis, I didn't do those edits for nothing tbh,,,
  • Obviously, Ice Beam and Protect swap places when you're explaining the moves.
Usage Tips
  • we shouldn't really do this section with comparisons to the AV set, and instead fill this with points about using the LO set itself. As it stands, attacking in rain is the only point that's valid. Beef this one up imo, like "only use on rain teams" and stuff like that
Team Options
  • be sure to say what "same as av more or less" is
  • what is "etc"
1/3 once these are addressed fam :)!

Set
  • Dammit Shay. Set conventions. Protect should be last and Ice Beam 3rd. Also flip the move descriptions to match with that.
Team Options
  • I know some people have messed around with manual rain with Thundurus setting Rain dance so it may be worth a mention along with Politoed as a provider of rain.
  • Mention things that beat Ferrothorn and Kyurem-Black as good team options. Terrak is one you mentioned that happens to do both

Checks and Counters
  • I checked the onsite analysis and im not sure why but CTRL + F Kyurem-B and Ferrothorn not found. We definitely need to put those on there.

I wouldnt be entirely against potentially adding Focus Blast to the other options section on site to not be completely walled vs the above, but havent seen anyone actually use it besides checkmater.

I would probably use it myself since im not afraid to miss, but I dont use Ludicolo since I am all about that Kingdra life.
