Look At What I Chained

modest 29/14/6/8/22/13
and it has sturdy for an ability instead of magnet pull :(

i was resetting for more after i caught it and it just said "the gassy patch remained quiet" and the chain broke. wtf?

MegaMewtwo - AHH that sucks, keep at it though, if you can get to 38 you can get to 40. Make sure you have something with Static in your first slot, then switch to a synch when the shiny appears. What's with that stupid squirrel and breaking late chains?
Problem is that there's Mareeps there too, Static would probably make them come up MORE often.

I've also noticed that the area I've been doing this in (Valley Windworks) seems too small, since if I use the Pokeradar in the middle, the 4s are at edges, and if I use it near one side, I only see one or two patches.

Stupid jerk squirrel.

idk if this is the right thread to post such things, but I just got a shiny Gyarados off the GTS.

Gyarados - #130 (Lax)
HP: 22 - 24
Att: 2 - 4
Def: 25 - 27
SpA: 3 - 5
SpD: 27
Speed: 21 - 23

for the lawlz.

Metabou - You should be posting that in the Look At what I Bred Thread. This is only for chaining. Ironic in many ways, lol.

MegaMewtwo - The Fuego Ironworks might be a better place, no other electric pokemon there. Make sure you have plenty of PP though, because Pachy knows Endure up there.

If PP becomes an issue, I just give my Pokemon a Leppa berry. They bump the PP right back up if it goes down to 0, and berries are simple to grow.

I started chaining today, I'm going for Abra. It seems like a Pokemon that doesn't need any egg moves, only needs good IVs in a few stats, and is easy to find. I'm not really worried about the Teleport thing, as I'm using a Hypnosis Gardevoir to find good Timid ones. But before that, I was going to go for a shiny Steelix (they look cool...), and then I realized that you couldn't PokeRadar in caves. :( Was that in the "how to chain" thread?

Oh, yeah, and I'm wondering if the information in your guide was done through experience, or through looking at the game's coding... because I've been doing decently without even caring about formations much, I just avoid clumps and isolation.

Aren't there Luxios there? Stupid squirrels always hanging out with other electric types.

Just wondering, where's a nice open space that's good for chaining and has something interesting there, like not the first couple of routes with Starly, Bidoof and that's about it. I'm thinking I should try somewhere easier.

Route 203 has a great square patch to the East, it's where I'm chaining Abras, and there are some annoying Starlies there. :( I don't know in what concentration, however, and that area's pretty diverse...

MegaMewtwo - Oh, yea, but their encounter rates are fairly low I think. Forgot about that. A LARGE space would be route 222 (I think) outside the resort on the way to SunyWhatever Town. That field is huge. Chatots and Mimes reside there, but I can't remember the Radar-only poke.

Kamikaen - As for the caves part, I guess I failed to mention it technically, but the whole thing revolves around grass, so I figured people would catch on, which you did. Also this is all from experience, non is from the game's coding. In general, if you just avoid the bad ones you'll be okay. However, over the long run you'll find that being more conservative later in chains pays huge dividends, because you're entering the surest of patches. Also I would strongly advise that you spore, trap, or Quick Ball Abras. If you miss with Hypnosis, which is pretty likely, it's all over.

I've tried Chatots a few times, guess I'll give it another shot some time. Chatot's one of my favourite Sinnoh Pokemon, I even bred one using the in-game trade one as a parent so I could have a Chatot in my in-game team.

Ironically, the Radar-only Pokemon is Flaaffy. Ironic because it was Mareep that killed my last chain. I won't have to worry about Mr Mimes though, since I have Pearl. I'll have to watch out for Glameow/Purugly instead.

Yay, I finally chained my first shinies! Got 3 shiny Shinx's! Unfortunately I ran out of max repels (after exhausting 100 of them) so I couldn't get any more. Still, that totally made my day.

also, there are swarms of skitty there. i was chaining for them and then date changed but i didnt know, and broke my chain. i was looking fo rlike, 20 minutes and then i checked the in game clock.

Keep going MegaMewtwo and Frozen!!

Houndeath - I like your name, I've thought of that also! Congrats!!! I would say it made my week when I got my first shiny, I still remember that day, and the day after.

I caught 9 Shiny Starlies last night, 6 of them Jolly thanks to my synchroniser.

I can't believe just how much your guide has helped with chaining, Diesel.

Chaining Chatots right now, going pretty well. Nickname ideas for shiny Chatot? I've already thought of the obvious "Polly" for a female one, any other ideas?

EDIT: I HAD to jinx it, didn't I? Stupid Floatzel. Trying again.

I'll go for a shiny Caterpie soon. Maybe tonight, but I'll probably dedicate a few hours to it on the weekend. As I said, It's a great target as it needs to egg moves, has a few desirable natures and a single trait. Plus shiny Caterpie are unmissable. It also only really needs a 31 in Speed to be all but perfect xD

Well, I'm pretty unlucky, but I do have over 600 Super Repels.

Also, name ideas for shiny Chatot?

EDIT: FOUND ONE!!! Male, name ideas?

EDIT: Caught it and called it PRETTY BOY.

EDIT: FOUND ANOTHER!! Also male, going to call it Crackers.

Crikey! Well done! Umm..... Chatty? Lucky is always good. Crackers is lol. I like crackers :)

Starting on my Caterpie chain now, wish me luck and GL getting more shinys mm2.

CRAP! I got distracted and broke the chain. Checking IVs of the ones I got:

Serious #441 Chatot: 30 / 12 - 13 / 6 - 7 / 12 - 13 / 26 - 28 / 11 - 13 "PRETTY BOY" Was using a Modest Syncher, has Tangled Feet

Jolly #441 Chatot: 19 - 21 / 7 - 9 / 3 - 5 / 21 - 23 / 24 / 14 - 15 "Crackers" Switched to Timid Syncher, has Keen Eye

Both male, really wanted a female to call Polly.

Between reaching 40 and breaking the chain, I used around 70 Super Repels. Did I do good for my first successful chain?
