This is a team that I've been using since the day the platinum changes were installed in shoddy. This team started off pretty good but lately I've been losing more than I'm winning. I've concluded that the team could use adjusting so I've come here for help.
Team At A Glance:
Magmortar-Choice Scarf
Modest
EV spread: 252 special attack/252 speed/6 hp
Fire Blast
Hidden Power Ice
Focus Blast
Thunderbolt
This is a lead I've been using with success since well before the Platinum metagame developed so it has stood the test of time. It outspeeds and OHKOs a lot of common threats such as Salamence, Gengar, Metagross, Jirachi and Shaymin-S. It is designed to give me a quick advantage and start off the battle with a bang. I would rather not get rid of him but if it will benefit the team, I'm open to it.
Shaymin-S-Wise Glasses
Timid
EV spread: 252 special attack/252 hp/6 hp
Seed Flare
Air Slash
Earth Power
Substitute
I've liked the idea of Shaymin-S ever since I learned what its base stats would be. It is stopped by a lot of common threats true, but it helps me take out bulky waters who otherwise would be a pain to deal with. The basic plan is to come in on something I know would switch, substitute, and then do as much damage as possible. I chose wise glasses over life orb because I would already be losing damage per turn because of Tyranitar's sandstream so the additional damage lost by life orb would be troublesome.
Swampert-Leftovers
Relaxed
EV spread: 240 hp/212 defense/58 special attack
Ice Beam
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Hydro Pump
Two of Shaymin-S and Scizor's most common switch ins are Zapdos and Heatran. Swampert deals with both and sets up Stealth Rock while he is at it. He is really my only defensive oriented pokemon on my team with the rest of them focusing on offense.
Tyranitar-Lum Berry
Adamant
EV spread: 252 attack/252 hp/6 special defense
Dragon Dance
Crunch
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Tyranitar deals with the Rotom Appliance formes that would always swtich in on Medicham and Scizor with dragon dance while lum berry absorbs the Will-O-Wisp. He also deals with other threats such as Choice Scarf Gengar and Starmie. I've been having an internal struggle about whether Fire Punch or Earthquake would be better. Earthquake hits harder in general while Fire Punch helps with Scizor and Bronzong. Another change I considered making was making Tyranitar more defensive oriented. I know that there is a Careful set that is effective and I've been contemplating using that.
Scizor-Life Orb
Adamant
EV spread: 252 attack/212 hp/46 defense
Swords Dance
Bullet Punch
X-Scissor
Brick Break
One of my favorite pokemon. I was thrilled when he got Bullet Punch because that meant that I could do a lot more damage with him. First Things first, I could use some help on an EV spread for him. I had no idea what to use so I came up with this random one. Brick Break is for hitting Heatran switch ins and getting rid of the ever popular "dual screens".
Medicham-Choice Scarf
Jolly
EV spread: 252 attack/252 speed/6 hp
Hi Jump Kick
Thunderpunch
Ice Punch
Psycho Cut
My favorite pokemon. I've always tried to work him into my teams and this is the best way. He serves as my cleaner late-game when all of his counters are gone. He also draws a lot of Rotom formes out for Tyranitar to kill.
I've tried to have the team support each other as much as possible. Tyranitar helps out Medicham by getting rid of ghosts. Swampert helps with Heatran and Zapdos so Scizor can sweep uninterupted, Tyranitar can kill or cripple the Blisseys that come in on Shaymin-S and Shaymin-S can handle all of the bulky waters.
One thing that I have noticed is my reliance on Choice item pokemon so think that may be a problem there if I have to switch often.
I would prefer to change as little pokemon as possible, but I am open to just about anything.
