item: Life Orb
ability: Justified
nature: Adamant
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
  • The most common way of defeating Lucario is by either having a Pokemon that can take its priority moves and OHKO back or by having a defensive pokemon that resists its coverage moves
  • This set allows Lucario to defeat these Pokemon, as it can now outspeed and OHKO many of its checks while also having maximum coverage, allowing it do defeat Pokemon such as Landorus-T
  • Has similar damage output to Jolly Terrakion
  • Does better against offensive teams then the SD set because of the aforementioned facts

[SET COMMENTS]
  • This set allows Lucario many of its common checks, including Landorus-T, Terrakion, and Gengar, by boosting its Speed instead of its attack
  • Because of this, this Lucario functions better against offensive teams
  • Close Combat is Lucario's main STAB move, eliminating threats such as Terrakion
  • Ice Punch is an essential coverage move in Lucario's arsenal, hitting Dragon- and Ground-types for super effective damage
  • Crunch is the recommended option in the final slot, as it OHKOes Gengar an dealls a large amount of damage to Jellicent
  • ThunderPunch is an option, however, to defeat Gyarados while still dealing a large amount of damage to Jellicent
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Life Orb is mandatory on this set due to Lucario limited damage output
  • Swords Dance can be used over Crunch or ThunderPunch to allow Lucario to function as a double booster, allowing it to defeat either stall or offensive teams depending on what move is used
  • Earthquake is an option to deal with Toxicroak, but it has redundant coverage with Close Combat
  • This set struggles with stall teams due to its limited damage output
  • This set also struggles with Breloom, as its Life Orb-boosted mach Punch will bring Lucario down to its knees
  • Hazard setters such as Skarmory, Forretress, and Ferrothorn are amazing partners, as they allow Lucario to acheive a greater amount of KOs
  • Baton Pass Celebi makes an excellent partner for these reasons, as it can check breloom, pass a Swords Dance boost to Lucario and lure Pokemon such as Tyranitar, giving Lucario a greater amount of setup opportunities
  • Kyurem-B is also an excellent partner for this set, as it can break down walls such as Hippowdown, making it easier for Lucario to sweep

Okay, I just wanted to say that I don't like this set at all, and I don't think it's good enough for it to get its own set on the analysis. For one thing, Agility Lucario does NOT beat Landorus-T after Intimidate, while SD Lucario can still outspeed standard Offensive Pivot Landorus-T and KO it with Ice Punch at +1. Physically defensive Jellicent can easily survive a Crunch and burn it with Will-O-Wisp. Really the only things that this set beats that the SD set doesn't are Garchomp and Terrakion, as pretty much everything else that is faster bar Keldeo is destroyed by a +2 E-Speed. Here are some calcs showcasing Agility Lucario's shitty power:

-1 252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 172 Def Landorus-T: 255-302 (66.92 - 79.26%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Ice Punch vs. 244 HP / 248+ Def Gliscor: 260-307 (73.86 - 87.21%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Crunch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Jellicent: 200-237 (49.62 - 58.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Crunch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Celebi: 221-263 (54.7 - 65.09%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Crunch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Latias: 242-286 (80.13 - 94.7%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

It can't even beat its common checks. What checks does it beat exactly other than Garchomp, Gengar, and Terrakion? (the latter two fearing a +2 Bullet Punch from SD Luc anyway) Why does this set need to be onsite if it can't actually do what you say it's meant to do? Remember that a +2 Extremespeed KOs Thundurus-T, Starmie, Tornadus, Latios, and Offensive Latias after Stealth Rock. This set seems like a solid OO set to me. It's not good enough to warrant it a set on its own.

This set looks great on paper, but is trash in battle. Just use the standard SD set.

EDIT: Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that this set loses to Breloom. SD Lucario doesn't. That's pretty significant if you ask me.

I agree with you in the fact that this Lucario does not have the raw power to break through defensive Pokemon like Skarmory, but you have to remember that this set is meant to thrive against offensive teams. Lucario's Life Orb +2 Extremespeed is often not enough to break through Gengar and various Choice Scarf users such as Jirachi, Landorus-T. and Terrakion. With Agility, Lucario can bypass many of these Pokemon, as Lucario's coverage moves is powerful enough to defeat these Pokemon.

252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 273-321 (84.52 - 99.38%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
-1 252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Ice Punch vs. 32 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 302-359 (92.35 - 109.78%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Crunch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Gengar: 335-395 (127.86 - 150.76%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Terrakion: 546-642 (168.51 - 198.14%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jirachi: 250-294 (73.31 - 86.21%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

The overall goal of this set is to defeat the faster Choice Scarf users that give standard Lucario trouble. Because of this, this Lucario functions better against offensive teams, as Lucario's STAB Close Combat hits harder than its +2 Extremespeed and that its super effective coverage moves hit just as hard as its +2 Extremespeed, but Lucario is now able to outpace most of its standard checks. Lucario does indeed do worse against defensive teams, but it still isn't useless due to its ability to 2HKO defensive Pokemon such as Jellicent, as well as eliminate offensive pivots such as Stoutland and Garchomp after an Agility boost.

I don't disagree with you in the fact that Swords Dance Lucario is superior to Agility Lucario, but I still believe that Agility Lucario deserves a set.

This has been QC rejected in the past, as it lacks power to break through defensive targets and the Agility boost proves more useless in more common situations than Swords Dance.

QC REJECTED 2/3

This set was better during DPP (I wrote the original analysis for it iirc), but it fails in comparison to the present metagame.

QC Rejected 3/3
