[SET COMMENTS]
Lumineon's combination of an excellent defensive typing, handy utility options with U-turn and Encore, good Speed tier for a pivot, and nifty ability to check special attackers such as Pyroar and Spiritomb allows it to become a decent pivot. Ice Beam is valuable coverage, hitting foes such as Gabite and Dartrix for super effective damage. U-turn allows Lumineon to tank a hit for teammates to get them in safely. This pairs well with Encore impairing Pokemon such as Whiscash or Masquerain attempting to set up entry hazards or boost their stats. Storm Drain allows Lumineon to blanket check some Water-type attackers such as Choice-locked Basculin and Golduck. Tera Grass is normally preferred, giving Lumineon a resistance to Grass- and Electric-type attacks that it would otherwise fear from Pokemon such as Gogoat and Raichu. Alternatively, Tera Dragon can give the same resistances as well as an added resistance to Fire-type attacks in exchange for a resistance to Ground-type attacks. Tera Ghost is an option to wall Quaxwell and check offensive Normal-types such as Zangoose and Pyroar better. Lumineon normally uses a specially defensive EV spread with a Calm nature to take on threats such as Pyroar, Houndoom, and Alolan Persian well, but a more physically defensive EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD with a Bold nature allows Lumineon to take on physically offensive foes such as Dragon Dance Charizard, Basculin, and Perrserker better.
Lumineon's best partners are ones that appreciate having a pivot to tank hits for them and allow them in safely as well as ones that enjoy Lumineon's ability to tank Water-type attacks. Setup sweepers such as Nasty Plot Haunter, Gogoat, and Quiver Dance Masquerain enjoy Lumineon's ability to help them come in safely to set up and sweep. Fire-types like Charizard and Pyroar form a strong core with Lumineon, with Lumineon absorbing the Water-type attacks from Pokemon such as Basculin they fear, and in return they break Grass-type threats like Gogoat and Sawsbuck that Lumineon would struggle against. Other Pokemon with pivoting moves such as Alolan Persian, Perrserker, and Electrode can form a VoltTurn core with Lumineon, with Alolan Persian in particular completing a powerful defensive core with by tanking physical hits Lumineon can normally struggle with. Ground-types like Alolan Dugtrio and Gabite can be useful switch-ins to Electric-types like Raichu, allowing Lumineon to be a more powerful pivot.
